That one armed guy looks huge!

Speaking of guys with missing limbs, any word as to wether K.G.Beast might be in this one? That guy was always meant to be huge and agile. Would make for a fun rooftop chase/battle.

Based on the video, it seems that you can control the speed when you're gliding, newer fighting combos and revised detective mode.

No doubt, this is a first day purchase for me. Hoping to see what kind of exclusives or purchase deals we get closer to the release day. I remember that the original game, was released with a $40 introductory price during the first week of release only. I'm hoping that they do that again for the sequel.

 Bring it on!!! October 18th can't come soon enough...

Good God. I dont think Ive ever wanted a game more. That was amazing. I have yet to buy a game on release day in years, maybe 10. This will break that streak. Followed shortly buy that Team Ico game :)

G4TV is indicating that this game is only 8 hours long.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

How could they possibly know that more than six months from release?!

Anyway, quality over length for me.

Wasn't that pretty much the length of the first game?

A good, solid 8 hours sounds fine to me. The first one was such a great surprise, I can't wait for Arkham City.

Its took 8 hours for the developers, who knew everything about the game, to get through it.

Actually they recently stated 12-15 hours for the main campaign, and that is excluding the side-missions which there should be a lot of. Over 20 hours for everything.

Some of the villians leaked to the official website the last few weeks, via avatars, but were taken down. The game is huge, with at least a dozen or so villians, one of which was an awesome shock for me! This was a person that was not even mentioned in Arkham Asylum.

My anticipation level for this game is only exceeded by Uncharted 3. I can not wait for this one!

Any details on these villains?

Mr. Freeze?

His cell was in the game, but that was it.

Villians that I know about:
Spoiler:

Joker
Harley Quinn
Two Face
Catwoman
Riddler
Penguin
Mr. Freeze
Bane
Zsasz
Talia
Killer Croc
Solomon Grundy
Poison Ivy
Calendar Man
Black Mask
Prometheus
Hugo Strange

Also:

Spoiler:

Alfred ... takes Oracle's job.
Oracle: Gone missing ...
Quincy Sharpe: Took credit for the Arkham Aslyum mess being cleaned up and Arkham City being created.
Gordon: Running for something and probably looking for his daughter ....
Nightwing (Arkham Toy spotted for him, Riddler Toy was shown at same time as is pretty close to what he looks like.)
The Creeper via Jack Ryder who is a confirmed character.
Tyger Mercs
Tweedledee and Tweedledum were heavily rumored for cameos .. Mad Hatter?

About that one villian that wasn't in the first game and the local gangs:

Spoiler:

Grundy and Killer Croc are both shown in the sewers. Possible they go at each other.

Two Face, Penguin, and Joker are all at war with each other trying to take control of Arkham City.

What about:

Spoiler:

Scarecrow? Not sure but Rocksteady considers him to be one of the best part of Arkham Asylum and Monarch Theatre is confirmed to be in Arkham City. I'd guess that's where you'll probably find him.

One of the developers made a joke about Crazy Quilt, so you never know.

I hope that the gameplay is 12-15 hours and not the 8 hours that I reported but I'm anxiously awaiting the release of this game and even though is going to be released in my "busy" time, I'll definitely set some time for it.

I'm also reading the "No Man's Land" arc in the Batman books and loving it so far. Hopefully the game incorporates some of the comic book storyline into the game.

Just a heads up, Amazon has this down to $56.99 with a $10 preorder bonus.

Anybody play both the PS3 and 360 versions of Arkham Asylum? I bought the previous game for PS3 for the Joker levels (which turned out to be underwhelming), but due to the ongoing Sony fiasco I'm limiting my PS3 purchases to exclusives only. Just wondering what I'll lose/gain from the 360 version.

Michael Corvin 05-09-11 09:20 AM

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

You're wanting to pick up the 360 version to replace your PS3 version? Why not just keep what you have?

Groucho 05-09-11 09:22 AM

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum Sequel

Sorry, I'm speaking in terms of buying Arkham City. I'm still leaning towards the PS3 version so I don't have to re-learn the controls, but I'm not thrilled about buying another PS3 game if I don't have to.

I have both versions...I picked up the ps3 cheap to do the Joker stuff...besides that, no real difference. I think if I remember the xbox version was zoomed in more on Batman, but it was not an issue really. I would pick the version that has bonus stuff, and if there is no "joker" extras just pick the version you want...
