Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

New tables are up for Pinball Arcade on PS4, and they screwed up again!!!
Game hasn't been updated to support them yet, but they also priced Season 7 at $4.99, $7.99 for Season 7 Pro, and $3.99 for Pro Upgrade. They don't seem to be on webstore yet, but I see them on PS4.

And BOUGHT! Thanks so much. It's up on the website now. For $3 more, I splurged and got the Pro pack.

Now that I purchased it, unfortunately the website doesn't show that I own it or any of the tables -- just that the Pro upgrades to the tables are unavailable. I hope they fix it.

Don't forget to "download" the individual tables after they get marked as free from buying the Season pass, so you're ready to go when they eventually update the game. With them I would guess we'll get the update about November

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

The patch for Pinball Arcade is out, and if you have Season 7, it also unlocks Pistol Poker, which isn't available on the store yet. Is this the first time PS4 has been caught up with PC, iOS, and Android?

Just was looking around on the forums, and they actually have someone from the company active. Pistol Poker isn't supposed to active yet, so it has problems. Fireball and Elvira and the Party Monsters crash, but aside from those I'm really liking this update.

Also worth noting for those that haven't been paying attention to what's coming out, World Champion Soccer is Bally World Cup. I used to love that game.

Xbox One has a bunch of Pinball FX3 packs on sale right now.

I picked up Walking Dead, Iron & Steel and the Marvel Cinematic Pack (since I miraculously didn't have any of them).

Thanks Kedrix! I will have to check to see if there are some I am missing.

I typically play Pinball Arcade the majority of the time but having some Zen tables every now and then is still good.

Does anyone else prefer the digital remakes of real tables to the Zen stuff like I do?

I do, up to a point. I really like the complex late-80s and early 90s tables in Pinball Arcade. However the early 80s tables are really hard for me to see and figure out and I don't find them very much fun.
I like most of the Zen tables except the ones that are too busy and distracting. Also sometimes the scoring is wacky and you can rack up an enormous score really quickly during a special, which never felt entirely right to me.

Like I said before, the lack of the original music really hurts the Universal table pack, but you can fix that with Spotify if you subscribe to that service.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Pinball Arcade on PS4 got a new update this week, and the lighting on it is now insanely good, they even added a global setting you can use so you don't have to change the tables individually and a small dim spotlight on the ball so it doesn't get lost (sounds dumber than it is). I set the lights to Room 0/Table 100, and I love it like that. It also fixed the two tables that the last update broke.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Yeah, somehow I totally missed that Jurassic Park Pinball got released.
I'm usually the first to buy every table that Zen produces, but with Jurassic World 2 just four months away, I might wait to see if it goes on sale the week of the movie release the way Marvel titles tend to do.

And speaking of Marvel titles, where is Black Panther Pinball?

Anyways, here are the three tables. The last two (Jurassic Park Mayhem and Jurassic World) look like they'd be fun. Surprisingly the Jurassic Park table looks like the worse of the bunch. The lack of famous music hurts here like it did on the other Universal tables. Also the voice acting in that first table is awful. It's been a little while since I watched it, but who talked like Gomer Pyle in that movie? Is the narrator supposed to be Mr. DNA or something?

I wonder if their deals with Disney are done. Their last Marvel tables were the Women of Marvel tables a year and a half ago. We didn't get a Last Jedi table, and none of the Marvel or Star Wars tables are on the Switch.

On one hand, the Force Awakens two-pack didn't come out until the movies hit Blu Ray, but on the other, we didn't get a Rogue One table either.
I wonder if that is the case.

I guess there was one. I apparently own it. Guess it's about as memorable as the film it's based on.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Farsight had a live stream event last week where they stated what with the release of Banzai Run, that will end their monthly release cadence for TPA. No word on how often they'll release new tables.

Sounds like their release schedule was really getting to them, what with all the platforms they support. Hopefully with this switch they'll be able to release tables in a more polished state as well as tackle some of the existing issues. The PC version in particular has a lot of problems.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Glad to see they apparently still have these licenses, although I wonder how many more there will be. Since the trailer doesn't show a Switch log at the end, I'm guessing any future Star Wars and Marvel tables may not be on there.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Bally and Williams licences for The Pinball Arcade are expiring on June 30th. After that date, none of those tables will be available for purchase.

That's a huge portion of the collection. I wonder if this is the end for TPA and they're just going to focus on Stern Pinball.

Edit: Here's a link to a FAQ about it: http://pinballarcadefans.com/showthr...nouncement-FAQ

Well that is a HUGE bummer, but I liked their explanation. Nothing they could do without a willing partner. First time that I've been happy that I already bought every fucking table they put out. Hope the PS5 will have some backward compatibility so I can keep playing these tables for years to come

Pinball Arcade Losing Over 50 Bally and Williams Tables On June 30th

Farsight Studios have announced via Facebook that their licensing agreement for the Williams and Bally pinball trademarks will not be renewed. Tables manufactured by those two companies will no longer be purchasable within Pinball Arcade on all platforms. This includes everything from Medival Madness and Black Knight 2000 to licensed titles such as Doctor Who and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The latter pair is notable, as they are two of the five crowdfunded tables present in the current game. All these Kickstarter successes will no longer be available to purchase once the update rolls out.

Overall, Pinball Arcade will be reduced from the current 95 tables to just 33.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

That really sucks. Glad I have bought every pack so far. I play Pinball Arcade way more than Pinball FX.

It's my go-to pinball game. I just prefer the ones based on real tables. I didn't read the articles. Was there a specific reason for this decision?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

The company that owns the rights refused/declined to renew the deal.

It seems like a weird decision. This isn't like losing the rights to James Bond or Marvel Comics - - I can't imagine any way to monetize these licenses beyond the Far Sight deal. If somebody hasn't bought digital versions of these tables, they are pretty unlikely to in a future iteration. And even I am unlikely to rebuy them in the future.
