Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Those new tables for Pinball FX2 look awesome.

So I read back through everyone's posts regarding the Stern Pinball Arcade. Could they have made this release more confusing?

So they duplicated many tables that are already on the Pinball Arcade. Are they actually updating/retooling these tables or are they the exact same tables? Then they put one table separate as the only way to get both versions. Then they charge a pretty substantial price for people who already have most of the tables and only need one or two. Then they include the "limited edition" tables as disc only? What the fuck?

I see the disc version has a release date of 12-15-16. So is this going to be a completely separate game in the store or built within the regular Pinball Arcade? Sucks that they are doing the limited editions only on disc. I am a disc buyer typically but for stuff like pinball, I prefer digital and not having to swap out discs.

Don't know what I am going to do about this release. I really like the AC/DC and Star Trek tables.

And Season 5 of Pinball Arcade still hasn't been completely released on the X1 and I think they started releasing tables on it a year ago. Now they only have 4 of the 10 up I believe. Maybe 5. Do they just not give a shit about this game or at least the version on the X1? Is this separate Stern release going to kill the original Pinball Arcade?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I have no idea what they are up against at Farsight but I am not buying anything else until the Season 5 I paid for is updated.

7 tables are still missing on X1 from S5 and S6 is already 7 tables in so 14 tables are not available and they want us to buy another version of Pinball Arcade that is not at all compatible with anything in the existing version? Nope.

The Stern release shouldn't kill the original TPA since only Stern titles will come to SPA from now on I guess? And since SPA is on a whole new code then they will never be backwards compatible with the current TPA.

No question, it's a fucking mess. The duplicate tables seem the same, but here there's a little tchotchke on a stand next to the table, so it's totally worth the re-buy. -rolleyes- Other than that the repeats look the same as their PTA counterparts to me.

AC/DC is a fucking amazing table. Worth every single penny of the $10 asking price.

I bought the Bundle #1 with AC/DC, Star Trek, Starship Trooper (repeat) and Ripley's Believe it or Not (repeat, but now with shrunken head tchotchke display). I got a code for Mustang but haven't tried it yet.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Here are the achievements for Stern Pinball Arcade (Xbox One version), looks like it will include 9 tables on disc if I'm reading the cheevos right:
https://www.trueachievements.com/gam...e/achievements

Ripley's Believe it or Not
Star Trek Premium
Starship Troopers
AC/DC Premium
Harley Davidson
High Roller Casino
Mustang Premium
Last Action Hero
Phantom of the Opera

Still seems a little pricey, but after an initial discount (sub $30) I might be more willing to make the plunge.

By the way, just a reminder Bethesda's 3-pack for Pinball FX2 comes out tomorrow.

Welp, Bethesda Pinball is up for download (at least on Xbox One), it's 10.99 though...a little steep if you ask me.

They absolutely are. They're amazing looking and very authentic in look, music, voiceovers. They're fun tables to boot - especially Skyrim with its persistent character and loot system which one-ups the one in Epic Quest.
Yes they're more expensive than the $10 they would have been previously but they're well worth the $12 asking price in my opinion.
Doom is a weird table with funky rules and gravity. Will take some time for me to figure out how to play it properly. Love that they included an Easy and Hard mode though.

And in other video pinball news, this looks really cool :

<iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sDv3Etzv7Ak" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
https://www.arcooda.com/

They just struck an agreement with Far Sight to bring their tables to the system.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Why does that look cool? That looks like a half-assed Virtual Pin, which was already a half-assed simulation of a real pin. This is like emulating an emulation of a pin... it just seems redundant and limiting.

Stern Pinball Arcade is adding Ghostbusters to Bundle #2. Of course I bought Bundle #1.

Spiderbite 12-18-16 03:12 PM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I still haven't bought it yet. I want to still pick up the other seasons on The Pinball Arcade before I get this release. Plus it appears they must still be tinkering with it. I still don't know which release I should pick up...digital or disc? And then you have all the tables in there that I already have under TPA.

Kedrix 12-21-16 07:56 AM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I did end up buying Bethesda pinball due to the Microsoft trade in Bing points for Xbox Live money thing. It's pretty nice (played each table a couple of times), hopefully I'll be able to spend sometime with it soon.

So, has anybody played Stern Pinball yet? I was curious to see how it played (though more than likely I'll wait for it to hit $20)...the only review on Amazon pretty much is what I thought with it plays great but long loading times and not enough tables for the price. But maybe some of you have a different viewpoint.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

This is good news. Totally logical, but given FarSight's business model, kind of unexpected:

January 6, 2017

We are proud to announce that Stern tables owned in Pinball Arcade are now cross-purchase with Stern Pinball Arcade on Steam.
This promotion will also be rolling out to mobile and consoles in the near future!

Zen is releasing a Star Wars: Rogue One table on the 31st.

Table will sell for $3.99

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Not digging the look of that table at all. But it's only $4 so I'll still get it.

Surprised this took so long. I'm a sucker for anything SW... so I'll bite.

Aliens Vs is also only $5 smackaroos. I picked up that one and WOP (already had Balls of Glory).

And besides Spider probably has all of them already...lord knows whenever I look at the X1 leaderboard, it's always him and Pinata way ahead of me no matter how good I think I am getting.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Thanks Decker. What sucks is that I just bought the Girls of Marvel a week or two ago. I was trying to catch up on my Pinball FX as I had neglected it for The Pinball Arcade over the past several months. I just wish they would finish Season 5 out on Pinball Arcade. It is like they just don't give a shit about the Xbox players at all.

Thanks for the compliment Kedrix. I usually try to find a board that someone is ahead of me on and I just play the shit out of it until I finally get the #1 spot. Then rinse and repeat. It may take hundreds of games though.

What confuses me is the Pinball Wizard score. Among my friends, I have most of the top scores but am way behind a certain someone here
Spoiler:
Liver&onions
and it is driving me nuts. No matter how many scores I get, he is still way above on the Wizard score.

If any one is near Atlanta it would be worth it for you to check this out: http://southernfriedgameroomexpo.com/

I took my son last year and we had a blast. Tons of pinball and arcade games all set on Free Play. You pay one price and just play your heart out. Pinball machines from now all the way back to the 50's. Not sure if I played anything older than that.

I already bought my tickets and have my room reserved for this year. The hotel it was at last year was very nice.

Decker, I plan to look you up next time I am at Vegas and decide to go to the Pinball Hall Of Fame again!

That makes sense though I'm pretty sure even if I was able to play that many times, I would still fall just a bit short ;).

Yeah, the Wizard score befuddles me too. I'm actually 3rd, nearly second on my friends list (out of about a dozen) and probably only there because a)I have most of the tables and b)have a few friends such as yourself that play the devil out of their tables as you mention above.

My guess on that certain someone is that he has some truly HEAVY hitters on his friend list...those ones that are just obscene and among the top in world at those tables.

Decker 02-14-17 04:41 PM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Wizard score factors in both your score over all the tables and your FRIENDS' score on all the tables. If L&O has lots more Friends that play ZP2, his score will be way higher. No matter how high you bump your score his will increase as well since he's your Friend. It's a stupid, arbitrary system whose only real function is to unlock and Avatar Item hoodie on the 360.

And sure, I'd like to go back to the Pinball HoF sometime when you're in town.

I still haven't been to the Pinball museum in Vegas even though I'm a huge fan and have been to Vegas plenty of times. My family had two really old 50s pinball machines when I was growing up, so I've spent hundreds of hours playing. I just picked up a few tables (Portal, Aliens, Bethesda) for the XB1 thanks to this thread. The physics are surprisingly solid. All the "tricks" that work on real tables work in that game. I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Isn't wizard score a mash up of all your friends lists scores? So when you get higher scores, the adds to my Wizard score.

And no, I don't have a lot of heavy hitters that you see on giant leaderboards. No one different than many of you would have. jerk faces.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I've somehow lost the announcement and can't find it on the internet, but The Pinball Arcade Season 6 should be coming out tomorrow for PS4 and Xbox One for $29.99. They claim that's 40% off, contains tables #51-61 and includes the Kickstarted Dr Who Master of Time table for "free".

I'm excited to play Indianapolis 500, table #51. It's one of my favorite tables to play at the Pinball Hall of Fame. I might buy the Season Pass right away so I can play a digital copy of that table tomorrow.

Spiderbite 03-06-17 01:52 PM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

^That would be great but last time I checked, they still hadn't released all of Season 5's tables for the Xbox. Are those going to be put up at the same time as Season 6?
