I'm like 100SS behind you and I only have 3 tables, one of which is that stingy-ass R&B table! You better pray Marvel never goes on sale!

Who cares about SS? That's all about who you know. ;)

I welcome the Spider-Man and Wolverine challenge.

I think a cool table leaderboard would be average score/game. Really put the lucky fucks like me in their place!

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Well shit, your games still take like an hour or so to hit those scores. Mofuckas like Fro n Me are 20 minutes, tops.

Shit, if I could get even a 15 minute game consistently on F4, I'd rock your precious little world. Forever.

This is the 3rd time you've tried to make a promise about rocking my world. I'm through waiting.

I am a little sad that you consider 15 minutes "rocking" someone's world. :(

((LxD)+W/G)/A^2. Not quite long enough to each Oregon.

What little time I have spent on the FF table, I really like. Very enjoyable with lots of ramps, easy to figure out goals and no super impossible shots. Other than being able to properly see where I am regarding the "force field" status, it is a really good table.

Fuck you Wolverine!

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Greetings!

Please help out an old guy and complete noob,by answering some simple ?'s

I just got a PS3 for 2 reasons only (I needed another BD player/Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection)

I have NO interest in online gaming,or posting high scores/competing w/others-leaderboards etc for the PHOF game)

I don't know anything about the PS Network or store, and my PS3 is not connected to the internet ( I can unhook it and bring to another room to update the firmware which I have done)

I would like to get the Zen and Marvel tables, but don't really know how to go about it.

Would my PS3 need to always be hooked up to the net to get these games and play them anytime?

Or can I hook up to the net and buy them, then unhook the net and they will be on the hard drive always? Would there be a new icon on the PS3 menu that I would just choose to play these?

What's the best way to pay for the downloads?

As I said,I'm a complete PS3 noob, who happens to love pinball, but no interest in gaming on it or anything that requires net connection
(except temporary connection, running a cable to that room would be a hassle)

To me it's a BD player w/the plus of playing some virtual Pinball.

As much info as you're willing to provide,or point me in the direction of a FAQ would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I don't know much about the downloadable side of the PS3, so I'll let someone else answer most of your questions. I do know that the best way to pay for the downloads would be picking up a PSN pre-paid card at a store and going that route. With the recent hacks and everything, I would say to NEVER put any credit card information on a console.

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Does your house not have a wifi network set up? The PS3 has wireless built in and even with a flaky/slow connection it should be enough to download the games.

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

My son does have a wireless router downstairs (that is where I bring my BD players to upgrade their firmware)

I tried several times to connect my PSP to a wifi n'work down there, but never got a connection? I was gonna try and update that firmware, but gave up,plus my pinball games on that work just fine-so I didn't see the need.

I could buy an extra long cat5 from monoprice and run it to the PS3-but It's a hassle and I only want to DL those games.(no online gaming for me)and have them on my PS3 to play whenever I wish-just like poppin'in the PHOF disc.

Do I always have to be connected to the net to play these?

Sorry for my ignorance,I'm old ;) and only got the PS3 for BD and PHOF-but now that I found out about these other tables-I'm interested in having them.

Total PS3 noob who just figured out how to enter a username on that stupid onscreen keyboard that it has.

Anyhows, all the info you could provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Understandable.

I would need to let someone more familiar with the PS3 weigh in about how the games are stored on your system. I will say, you may find you enjoy some of the internet connectivity in casual games like pinball. You don't directly play with someone else - so there is no need to deal with obnoxious kids online. Pinball FX2 in particular has some of the best friends list integration I have seen in a game. It shows you exactly what your friends (and you could find plenty of friends on this forum) scores are and I found it encouraged me to try again for a slightly higher score to climb one more step on the ladder. It really gave the game even more replay value.

I'm more interested in why the wireless connection doesn't work. Have you asked your son to help get it online? The wireless network can be locked down in any number of ways and you may need him for the various pieces of information (network name, encryption type, password, etc) required.

I agree. If your (Etrigan - not piņata) son has wireless set up in his room then he probably has the knowledge to troubleshoot your connection issue. So make him do it for you. He (or one of his friends) could probably set you up a username, login, and have you on PSN without too much trouble.

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Thanks everyone.

242-I really just got the PS3,and haven't fooled around w/it much yet.
Yes,my son would HAVE TO help me out/w that kind of stuff.
Not that internet savy at all-I'm a simple kinda guy-stuck on stupid kinda ;)

I guess my ?'s aren't so much about connectivity,as they are about how to access the games once I pay and DL them.

Are they on the HD? Would a new icon be on the PS3 menu, where I would just highlite and play?

Or,would I have to create some sort of PS network/store acct that I would have to sign on everytime I want to play a table and have to be connected to the net to access them?

All my BD players are Sony-and I have the PSP,so I'm familiar w/the menu that it uses, just never had anything to do w/DL from the net-except for firmware.

Thanks again!

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Yeah, many of us responding now don't know that since we primarily play the Zen games on the 360. Different games have different rules on the PS3 (usually, though, you don't need an active connection).

That being said, however, getting an active connection would solve all the problems and let you get the newest tables each month without exerting actual effort ;)

It's Father's Day! Guilt him into doing it ;)

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

I also can't even fully express how excited I am to hear that the awesome pinball game is what is hooking someone into gaming!

My scores definitely don't reflect it, but I have played a ton of the video pinball games. The Williams Collection is great but the stat tracking and leaderboard stuff leaves a good bit to be desired. FX2 is king as far as I am concerned and I will buy any table Zen puts out.

Etrigan 06-19-11 11:07 AM

Re: The Ultimate Pinball Thread

Thanks.

Do new tables really come out every month? I don't wish to exert any actual effort;)

I'm aware of the Zen and Marvel tables (Is there a list of the tables avail.for each?)

You mention this FX2? not familiar with that yet-care to school me a little on that? is that a PS3 or 360 thingie?
