Best platforming game series of the decade

There's been a ton of great Platforming series to come out this decade. I picked The Ratchet and Clank series since I've had the most fun with that series this decade. It also revitalized the platforming genre. Mario comes in second. Sunshine and Galaxy were okay but I think New Super Mario Bros wii outshines both games. 3rd would be the Jak and Daxter trilogy. Great set of games.

A lot of these I haven't played, but I really did love the platforming in the stuff of Sands of Time I played. I still think it goes to Mario, if you're counting all of his games across the board. Sunshine had those great bonus levels that took your pack away. I wish the Wii had DLC so they could just release Mario challenge maps that were more of those.

Super Mario Galaxy + New Super Mario Bros. DS + New Super Mario Bros. Wii = Winner*

*The only blemish is Sunshine.

I voted for Mario, but loved Sly Cooper and Ratchet.

The Oddworld titles should have been included.

Going by series, Mario, but Mirror's Edge is my favorite platformer since Mario 64.

Mario without any contest. I think Uncharted is an action-adventure more than a platformer. Looking forward to a Wii HD and playing Mario Galaxy. Until now my favourite Mario game is the all-time classic Super Mario World. Yoshi ftw!

Another big one you forgot is Tomb Raider.

Mirror's Edge was fun. Different, but fun.

Does Assassin's Creed count as a platformer?

Mario by a mile...Ratchet at #2...Uncharted and Tomb Raider are NOT platformers...and Mario Sunshine is hugely underrated!

Taking nothing away from Mario, but I'm a huge R & C fan. I love their humor and the fun way that they change up the game play. I look forward to a new game every year and am never disappointed (well, except Ratchet Deadlocked, but most don't count that one as a true R & C game.

When this thread was first created earlier today I started a reply mentioning "Mirror's Edge" and the fact that it was missing from the choices but I deleted it.

I'm glad others have mentioned it.

I've never played Uncharted, but Tomb Raider is very much a platformer. 90% of the gameplay is jumping from ledge to ledge in order to get Lara from point A to point B.

There were some problems with Sunshine, no doubt, but even with them, at its core, was a great controlling game.

I vote Mario, and I LOVED Sunshine. I really don't know why it was criticized.

Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, or Sonic would be decent choices for the 90s, but not this decade (although Mario would win that one too).

Resident Evil a platformer?

Gotta go with Mario, still haven't tried the new Mario Bros. Wii, but think that one is coming for Christmas.
