For anyone on the fence about a 3rd title that's a fan of survival/horror stuff, I broke down and bought Saw over the weekend with a gift card and love it. Great atmosphere, cool puzzles, really kept with the Saw franchise, especially the feel of the first two movies.

Uhmm.. that text about the Value Bundle is for the DS Lite Value Bundle....

Notice the * for the game deal... and the ** for the DS Bundle.

Wow, very good point. I didn't notice the bundle distinction.

There aren't three games I absolutely need right now (and worth dropping $120) so I think I'm skipping this year anyway. That line still makes me hesitate about using placeholders even though it is pretty obviously written specifically for the bundle.

God forbid they keep people from cheating the system. If they wanted the deal to be valid on all the hot Christmas titles they'd wait and have the sale closer to Thanksgiving.

I've never understood skirting this sale. Too shady. Then again I did take part in the $10 target coupon, so...

That other deal works out to be $101 with tax + S&H for two games. Somehow while the two coupons stack, it takes off the free shipping. Think I'm better with Amazon + ECA. What to do...

It just gives me all the more reason to wait until the titles I want are a bit cheaper or used through Amazon. So instead of TRUS getting my money for some video games they get nothing instead and my money goes elsewhere. I can't blame them for this new policy but it will keep me out of this sale as there are not three titles out there that I want at the moment.

which is why i went for that deal i posted earlier. the 20% of and $10 coupons at TRU. i got to preorder the 2 games i wanted, with my trade in credits from TRU so i'm happy.

How is 2 games for $50 each better than 3 games for $40 each? Am I missing something here?

first of all, it's not $40 each if you buy $60 games, since you need to include tax (if you live in state that charges tax). second, if there aren't 3 games you want (like the situation I'm in), you'd pay more for 3 games, one of which you may not want. so, personally, i think the deal i posted is better in my situation, but it may not be the case for everyone.

Weren't you the guy that was just stacking ECA coupons left and right, when you obviously knew that is cheating the system? Rich .

If you're buying games that are already out, there is a $5 off $25 TRU rewards coupon that expires on Monday.

there's a chance they may not take it since it's usually one promotion at a time. can't hurt to try, but i doubt in most situations they'll take it.

Do you need some sort of rewards card to use that coupon?

Unless you have unused ECA codes for Amazon, then you're out of luck since there are no new ones up.

I'm sure you can find someone you know that wants a game out.

Only see the splash page advertising it, not the actual working sale online.

Would I be able to get an adjustment if I bought 3 games earlier this week?

not usually. why not just go rebuy the games, and take back the ones you bought w/ your old receipt.

I'll probably do that, just curious if it would work the other way too. Hopefully nothing sells out before I get there.

Also, the sale works for me online when I add the items to the cart.

Yep! Active online now! I had put Halo: ODST in my cart before midnight and it wouldn't recognize it as free. I removed it and put it back in my cart and received the discount.

A lot of games are quickly going out of stock though, so if you choose this method, you may want to hurry.

Whats this whole "Placeholder" stuff you guys keep talking about? Do you actually get money back from the free game when you return it? Or do you get to trade it in for another game?

Basically you get a game now that you want to trade in as late as 45 days later for something else coming out in that timeframe. When that game comes out you exchange it for that one but make sure the one you want to trade in is not charged as the free one on the receipt.
