Capcom told GameSpot the stand-alone game will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a handful of additions, including "about eight" returning or newly created characters, new Ultra Combos for the original Street Fighter IV cast, enhanced online play, balancing tweaks, and more. Capcom also revealed two of the additions to the roster, T. Hawk and Juri. T. Hawk debuted in the arcades with Super Street Fighter II, and is one of only two characters in that game (Dee Jay being the other) not already included in the console and PC versions of Street Fighter IV. Juri is about to give M. Bison (Vega in Japan) a good old fashioned boot to the head. The other confirmed character, Juri, will be the first Korean world warrior in the series, and uses an array of Tae Kwon Do kicks to batter opponents into unconsciousness. As a stand-alone game, Super Street Fighter IV won't be compatible online with its predecessor. However, Capcom has said that the game won't be a full-priced game, and the publisher plans to offer a special bonus to gamers who already own Street Fighter IV. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/image...500x_thawk.jpg Super Street Fighter IV was announced today, and it looks like it's coming as a standalone game and not an addon or DLC for the original so I thought this deserves it's own thread. Personally, I thought SF4 was the best fighting game i've played in years and had a lot of fun, so while it sucks to have a new game to buy next year, it looks like they're adding a lot of new stuff and i'm glad to see it's supposedly going to be priced lower then $60. |
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
WTF?! So the game I just got a month or 2 ago, will now be obsolete?
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
Saw that one coming.... C'mon, it's Street Fighter! I think I'll just hold out for the inevitable "The Definitive Super Street Fighter IV Turbo X"....
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
I'm glad I only spent $20 on SFIV.
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
Hells yeah!!! I am all about this as SFIV is one of my favorite fighting games of all time.
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
^^^Yep, i'm pretty excited about this. I practice Tang Soo Do (a Korean martial art), so I'm really excited to see the Korean styles represented in SF. Also, i like that there is a bonus for owners of SFIV and it is going to be a budget title. That makes me much more likely to pick it up on release.

I bet this will still be at least $40 on release. |
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
Not surprised. I would actually like some of the characters and play mechanics from third strike make it in the game.
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
I never really liked T-Hawk, so I hope he gets a fairly major redo before this release.
|
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
So how many years before SFV?

Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
I was going to pick up SFIV on the cheap after I get a PS3, but now I get to hold off until this comes out.
I hope they add Dee Jay as well, since he'd be the only character from the SFII era not in the game now. It would also be cool to see someone from SFIII make the cut, maybe Yun and Yang since they were in Chun-Li's video. At some point I'd love to see them pull a Mortal Kombat Armageddon and make a game that has every character from the series so far. |
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
Not this shit again
It's street fighter 2 all over.. What's next.. Super Street Fighter IV Super Hyper Turbo Championship edition? |
Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
With 8 new fighters and a price less than $60? Fuck it, I'm there. Even though I'm done with SF4 now, I thought the game was amazing. It's probably my favorite fighting game ever. For $40 this will be a day one purchase for me. If they go much higher than that, I'll wait a bit, since SF4 really dropped in price fast.

Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
The official announcement makes mention of a special bonus for owners of the current iteration of SFIV. Hopefully, it is something good (DLC for the new characters? Free DLC?).

Exactly. It's silly enough that SFIV takes place before SFIII. Now we're back to Capcom repackaging the same game over and over again. Although, in hindsight, this shouldn't be a surprise. They did the same thing with SFIII. Still, you'd think they'd just add this via DLC. If it's to be a $40 release, just charge $2 per character when you download them.

Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
About the re-balancing, I really hope Sakura gets bumped up a little She's so fun to play, but you have to be really good to be effective with her.

Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
I hope, beyond hope, that we don't have to unlock characters in Super.

Re: Super Street Fighter IV - Spring 2010
I'm guessing there will some kind of bonus if you have an SFIV save on your system.
