I don't understand why wouldn't you? If you already own it, why not download it?

You miss out on Shale, one of the best characters in the game, if you don't get the DLC.

I only mean that if it's included down the road then it sorta feels like buying it twice. And I could potentially sell the DLC codes to help cover my DA:O experience cost.

But... I'll most likely redeem it.

I am around 15 hours into the game and I am having alot of fun. Wow it is hard to believe I have like 45 hours to go. I just don't see how they are gonna stretch the story out to take that long.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I just got the game on Friday and I'm close to 10 hours into it. My question is do I just input the code for the Blood Dragon armor into the "redeem code" section and would it just show up automatically in my inventory or do I have to do a quest similar to what you do to get Shale?

nickdawgy 02-07-10 02:40 PM

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

If I remember, the armor just shows up. But you have to have like 33 strength or something to equip it.

I didn't wear mine until the final battle

You have to purchase it from different vendors. I believe you need a 36 strength to use it.

Ok, I need some assistance.

Spoiler:
I am at the part where you are trying to get cooperation from the dwarves to fight the Blight. They sent me out to the Deep Roads and I am lost. I went to the crossroads and looked around everywhere in that maze of tunnels and I can't seem to find what I am supposed to find. When I look on the map, there doesn't look to be any dark spots to show a unexplored area -- I have looked everywhere, at least I think I have. I also have killed all of the dark spawn I can find.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

You likely need to go deeper into the Deep Roads. Check the Map. I am almost certain you need to go deeper in. If you have cleared everything, you need to go get to Branka.

If you happen to have Bodahn the Dwarf in your Camp I'm pretty sure he should have all the remaining Dragon Blood pieces. (That's where I got them anyway.)

I finally found my way in the Deep Roads. There was a place on the map i was just missing. I am around 20 hours into the game and now the game is really becoming "epic".

Spoiler:
I defeated the brood mother and then went after the urn of sacred ashes. I defeated the dragon guarding the gauntlet that leads to the urn. I had to go to bed before I could start the gauntlet. the game is really becoming rather awesome now.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Shale's great. The interplay between the characters while you're traveling is great too. Shale was just mocking Leliana when I was playing last night. Oh, and his rage for birds. Although I'm about to cap out on Shale's skills so I might switch to another fighter.

You can also give gifts just in the inventory menu, can't you? I have had a few things kick off while doing it in camp, so I'm not sure if theres a difference.

My minor quibbles so far are that like someone said, the quest arrow doesn't work all the time - you have to be in the same general area for it to kick off. Also, I've got a bunch of quests which are "Find X in Y and give/take/kill", but I have no idea where those people are other than the area name, and I really don't want to wander through the entire town *again* talking to everyone.

I've had one freezeup in ~30 hours when a combat froze up, and a couple potential sidequest glitches. The quests were "Find Person A, B, and C then come back to Y." I found them but I hit X when they were talking (which, by the way, could potentially lower the game length from 60 hours to about 30 or so) and the quest text didn't update.

yeah the arrow can be aggravating. i am not doing all of the side quests because of this. i guess i am just so used to borderlands where i knew exactly where to go to do a side quest.

Sequel coming Q1 2011.

If you're pacing out your Dragon Age playing to ensure that you have a steady drip of elfin lovemaking and epic dragon fighting, here's a bit of new info to consider for your tactics: EA is planning to launch a new Dragon Age title in Q4 of its fiscal 2011, which, in real-world time, falls between January 1 and March 31, 2011. The sequel is far from a surprise, given that EA has also announced that global sell-in (read: shipments) of Dragon Age: Origins has reached 3.2 million units.

Intriguingly, EA currently lists "Dragon Age Title TBA" (that's what it's called at the moment) for consoles, PC and handhelds -- which could mean either handheld game devices (think: DS and/or PSP), cell phones or both. Whatever platforms it appears on, expect the game to be super hot. Assuming, of course, this is the real sequel to Dragon Age: Origins and not a spin-off.

I will play all of them. :|

Since I havent beaten the game yet (still on first playthrough), I have a question that I cant go back through this thread and look for cause I am trying to avoid spoilers.

I keep collecting things like Topaz, or Oynx or something other stones... Do i need to keep these or can I sell them?
Also, I am using Liliana as an Archer, does strength effect damage her arrows do?

Sell the stones, they are worthless.

I assumed like most RPGs, while STR goes into the DMG calculation for ranged Attack, you get more bang for you buck with DEX. It is normally used to calculated dodge and crits.

Thank god, they are taking up like 20 of my spots, i didnt know if they were used for anything, but was never able to find anything online about their use.. So basically, they are there just to pick up and sell?

OMG I am hating this section of the game:

Spoiler:
I am trying to get the mages to help fight the blight. I was sent to "The Fade". I absolutely despise this -- wandering around in these freaking mazes and shapeshifting into a damn mouse and going through mouse holes. I am also lost as hell. Do you have to "complete" each section on the fade diagram? I haven't been able to figure out how to beat any of them. I am probably gonna put the game on the shelf for a while before I go back and try to go through this horrendous crap. I was actually enjoying the game quite a bit until this part.

I just went through this part, it was not fun at all. I ended up looking up the guide online to figure out which order to do things and how to get all the permenent stat increases but eventually made it through... It was annoying as hell.

I will probably have to end up looking at a guide too. i will probably shelf the game for a week or so. This part kind of screwed up the story momentum for me and I have no desire to suffer through that section right now. Anyhoo, I picked up Dante's Inferno -- I will go through that and pick up DA:O afterwards. That whole fade section gives me flashbacks of the God-awful dream sequences in the Max Payne series. It also reminds me of that castle at the beginning of the 2nd disc of Lost Odyssey -- it was like a castle of illusion -- you had to go a certain way or you spawn back at the beginning of the castle. I stopped playing the game when I go here...once again the story's momentum was shot to sh1t once I got here. I got so aggravated and never picked the game back up again. I am not a RPG enthusiast so if I get too aggravated I will stop playing them.

Once I left Lothering, i went there first thankfully, and now can do the rest and not have to worry about the stupid fade part again (I Hope)....

funny how different people see games....I absolutely loved the Fade part, and felt the game switched to another level during that part. I did not find anything about that section annoying at all.

Yeah, I just played that Fade section last night and found it to be a nice change of pace. Granted I'm playing on Casual, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm glad i'm not the only one that liked the fade. I thought that was the best part of the game. Especially when you get to transform into
Spoiler:
A stone golem

it could have been for me atleast that I went there first, and didnt get to experience any of the other parts of the game yet, and it went right to that for awhile and I was hoping for something else, but none the less, since I have left the Fade, I have been much happier.

I thought the Fade part picked up once you get the last couple transformations, but everything up to it was boring and a chore for me.

For Archers, is there any diffrences between Bows and Crossbows? Does one shoot faster or something?

Quicker damage (bows) or stronger damage (crossbows). Also, they use different ammo (arrows vs. bolts).

I just did the quest urn of sacred ashes where you have a option to kill someone....

Spoiler:
Brother Genitivi, I decided to kill him and it was the funniest thing I have seen. He starts to walk away and you pull out a dagger and throw it at him. He turns with a shocked look on his face and you see your dagger hilt sticking out the back of his head, and Leliana cries out are your crazy. I could stop laughing, that my character was so cold blooded.

More here:

Biggest detail is that crossbows don't get a Strength damage bonus like bows. So not recommended for fighters.

ok, so I finally romanced Morrigan (and Zevran)... Is there any thing bad that can happen with romancing people? Or should I say, i really just wanted the 10 point achievements, is there any reason I should reload my last save and not continue down the path after romancing them? I know if you start romancing Leliana that Wynne talks to you about it. But as a male human mage, I'm romanced all but Alistair and haven't had any fallout from any of it.

I think i ran into a glitch (360 version)

I'm up to the Landsmeet section and whenever i start a quest i lose all my health potions. It really pissed me off since i like to stockpile potions and had about 15  Anyone else experience this glitch?
