WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Rosters to be unveiled tomorrow:
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/66705437.png http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/32191180.png Features and previews here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_SmackDown_vs._Raw_2010 http://www.smackdownvsraw.com/#/home http://ps3.ign.com/objects/143/14347660.html It seems that the Legends of Wrestlemania didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel and they went back to including the Legends in the Smackdown series. THQ seems to have gone the EA way of just making small adjustments to the series and not improving that much the gameplay. |
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Just as well with Legends of Wrestlemania... while the setup was great, the gameplay was not. And I'm not sure where they could have gone with the series besides having more of the secondary matches, as there's only one new WM a year... unless they were going to go with a Summerslam or some other PPV title.

Any reviews? This is coming tomorrow and it appears to be just a roster update and not too much improvement.

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
IGN liked it a lot, giving it a 8.5, up from the 7.5 for 2009.

More than likely, push come to shove, I likely will, but I'm not 100% on it for the first time in 20 years. I think the SD vs. RAW formula is just so old and tired by this point, and I'm dying for a change. Again, I'll likely get this one, I always have, but I'm not nearly as excited as I have been for all these years before. |
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
The CAWs are the focus this year, and thats the selling point for me. Create your own storyline? Sold.
|
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Holy shit, you can download other people's created storylines? SOLD!

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
I haven't bought a WWE game in two years (skipped 8 and 9) but I got it this year. That should tell you something :) I'll be working on a review of the game for another website (that I probably can't speak of) and hopefully it is as good as the hype out there makes it to be. Heck, I've played almost every wrestling game out there (since the old Pro Wrestling for NES) but I'm still waiting for a game WWE wise to hold a candle to Smackdown 2 for PS1. *fingers crossed*

great game! bought around lunch time and been playing for couple hours. Awesome game! love the new Royal Rumble match and Championship Scramble.

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
I don't think that roster listed above is accurate. Jesse, Festus and Goldust are all in the game, and I don't see them above. And it's been widely reported that Zack Ryder and Gregory Helms did not make the game.
Here's the list I've seen: Raw Superstars * Santino Marella * Shawn Michaels * Randy Orton * Primo * Cody Rhodes * Jack Swagger * Triple H * JBL * Mr. Kennedy * Big Show * Evan Bourne * Carlito * John Cena * Ted DiBiase * Festus * Chavo Guerrero * Mark Henry * Kofi Kingston * The Miz * MVP SmackDown Superstars * Batista * Edge * Finlay * The Great Khali * Matt Hardy * Chris Jericho * Jesse * JTG * Kane * Mike Knox * John Morrison * Rey Mysterio * CM Punk * R-Truth * Shad * Undertaker * Dolph Ziggler * Jeff Hardy * The Brian Kendrick * Umaga ECW Superstars * Shelton Benjamin * Christian * Tommy Dreamer * Goldust * Ezekiel Jackson * Vladimir Kozlov * William Regal WWE Divas * Brie Bella * Nikki Bella * Eve * Mickie James * Kelly Kelly * Gail Kim * Maria * Maryse * Michelle McCool * Melina * Natalya * Beth Phoenix |
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
If you don't play online, expect to be disappointed. Though I haven't had time to mess with the meager settings/sliders, this has got to be the easiest video game I have ever played in my 30+ years of playing video games!

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Hrmm...I won't be able to crack this open until Thursday (writing commitments on dvds and a column come first)...but easier than say Smackdown 1/2 which were very easy games too as long as you kept moving? I will play some online but the last time I played a WWE game online (07), all I ever got were these complete masters of the mat who either used every cheat in the book or would quit if I actually got an advantage on them. Didn't exactly make for a fun time. But I am looking forward to sharing CAWs & storylines.

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Shame, I normally pick this series up every year but I am also not thinking about getting this, at least not until a substantial (50%+) price drop.
The core gameplay is rarely changed now, only the small details around it are. |

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
I haven't watched wrestling for five years now, or bought a new wrestling game since WM X8 on Gamecube (I believe it was)....but I'm seriously considering picking this one up now if you get to play Cobra Commander....that is a complete WIN of a surprise character in my book.....

Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Can we get CAW from other users without issues for this game?
|
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
Yeah, when we download other peoples' storylines do we get their CAWs too?

I imagine that's a CAW, because they have a logo creation mode in this year's edition. Still, that's an amazing looking CAW.
So the CAW features are now really this extensive? And other people can make them and they can be downloaded for others to use, just like the user-created levels in Little Big Planet? If so, I think I'm going to pick this up ASAP.... |

Whatever movesets, finishers, entrances and outfits the creator made for the CAW is what you're stuck with. If you wanted to add wrestlers that aren't in the game, or legends, you can't add their theme music unless you create them yourself. So basically it's fine if you want to have even less control over the CAW then you have over the wrestlers that come in the game. |

Here's the problem with CAWs that you download: you can't alter them in any way.

This is just stupid. Unless there is people making perfect CAW, it's almost impossible that people wouldn't want to tweak them.
Too the people that have the game, does it at least work like the GHTunes situation? You rate the characters you download and the good ones would at least float to the top. I don't understand why they can't make at least the basic details changeable. |
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
I picked this up today, but I won't be able to try it until this weekend.
|
Re: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010
I've been playing the game over the past weekend or so and I've finished a couple of the RTWMs (Edge, Shawn) and done a couple of creations; the usual create yourself, give yourself an entrance video, produce some highlights, edit that into the entrance video, etc. It's a lot of fun, I've had trouble with some of the moves as the instruction manual is missing a lot of information. The glitches and/or planned limitations are kinda annoying when it comes to CAWs & CAS modes but honestly it's the most fun I've had with a wrestling game in a while. They just realllllly need to patch some of the glitches (alternate attires comes to mind) and remove/alter some of the limitations.
