Yeah, I get your point, but for me, the Tommy Shaw singles were the best that Styx offered, and I was glad they were included in Rock Band DLC in as high of quality as they were without being the originals. I loved Renegade and Blue Collar Man in the 80s (I really found those songs plus stuff like Triumph' Fight the Good Fight really motivating/inspiration for me in my late teens).

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Demo

I'll give it a fair shake later this morning, but I'm not expecting much.

Any clue what songs are included with the demo?

• Black Sabbath - "Children Of The Grave"
• Foo Fighters - "No Way Back"
• Slash featuring Ian Astbury - "Ghost"
• Dethklok - "Bloodlines"

I wasn't going to bother anyway, but they did an amazing job picking songs that don't even marginally entice me to waste my time.

Actually, a few weeks ago, I heard Tommy Shaw on Opie and Anthony from last year. He explained that Harmonix requested the masters, but they could not find them. He told the story of searching right up until the deadline, and they came up with nothing. So they had to re-record. It wasn't because if rights after all.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Children of the Grave was one of my top 3 songs in the setlist, so I downloaded it as soon as I got home from work. I played it on expert guitar (hated the chart), hard drums (not bad), and then expert bass (not bad). Then I exited out and deleted the demo. I mainly play guitar, and I don't think I'll have any interest in playing it again. Neversoft strikes again.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

It's amazing that Neversoft continues the trend of having the music sound quality being beyond abysmal. At first I thought it might of just been because of the age of the song (Children of the Grave), but every song after that was just as bad or worse. For a music game it's just unacceptable. I'll still play my Gamefly rental for a few days, but I'm sure I'll get annoyed and get bored quick enough.

Oh, and activating Star Power is so fucking distracting I swear I almost failed because of it. Neversoft need to just change their names to Nevergood, cause all they seem to produce is shit.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I gave it a shot yesterday, so I'll put in my two cents.

Guitar for me was pretty unplayable. I have no idea if it was a calibration issue (I play RB fine with 0 video lag), or if I'm just so used to the RB interface that this throws me off.

I tried vocals as well, and they weren't nearly as bad as they have been in previous GH games. I actually kept a combo for most of the song for the couple I played. The really annoying thing about vocals is that if there's a gap in the vocals for more than like 30 seconds, they flash "GET READY" on the screen again to remind you that you're playing vocals and need to sing again. Very stupid.

Not being able to skip some cutscenes is pretty dumb too. I thought the little one with Johnny waking up outside and then coming through the crowd was kinda cool the first time, but would get annoying to see multiple times. Hopefully that's something only in quest mode, for those people picking it up.

And to address flashburn's comments about NeverSoft, I guess it's a good thing that this is NS's last outting on the GH franchise, as they've since moved on to something else. I believe Vicarious Visions (who have done the Wii ports as well as the DS games) are taking over the reins with GH7.

Oh joy, that will rebuild my confidence in the franchise! I look forward to seeing what next franchise Neversoft has the honor of destroying.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Played the Foo Fighters song on Hard last night. Normally I play everything on Hard without a problem but this was a kick in the balls for some reason. When the song was over it said I'd earned 9 stars. Deleted the demo.

Not going to be a purchase. Not even a bargain bin purchase.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

yeah, the Foo Song on expert really suprised me how hard it was for some reason, not sure why, just akward chords... Didnt really like the demo, but will probably still buy it just for the Muse and SSP songs...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

^ That makes me think about the long-running joke about "MOAR MUSE!" from Harmonix. I could totally see a Muse pack or album hitting DLC just in front of GH:WoR.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

That is a big get for GH...I am glad they got all the Metallica...but it is still irritating they can't get all of the disks for the other games that "imported."

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I had the day off yesterday and the wife is out of town, so I decided to plow through some music games and get a bunch of achievements I had missed. Finished up everything I could do with Guitar/Bass on Lego Rock Band and Band Hero, then moved on to GH5, played two songs and turned off the Xbox.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Does it export to GH5/Band Hero or only WoR? Do you need to have WoR to do the export? If only it only exports to WoR and you need the disc to to the export, it will still probably be better to wait for it to hit the bargain bin, even with the export fee.

Reason I ask is because the only reason a free export the first week makes sense is if it's to drive first week sales of WoR, which doesn't work if you give free exports to anyone that already has GH:M and GH5 or BH.
