I disagree. In Crackdown you could clearly see the Orbs on the horizon or on a distant building and the fun was figuring out how to get to it. In AC the flags are the same blacks, greys, and browns as the environment. Hard to spot. I'm not saying they needed to be neon green & blue to spot, but at least throw some reds & greens with a gold coat of arms or crest on the flag to make it stand out more. The audio cue in Crackdown was genius.

Because I think games are easy I must have a lot of free time? I've been gaming for about 20 years, so with that comes solid skill. Couple that with games that are the easiest in my lifetime and wow, I guess I need a lot of free time. Funny you mention time because I beat Red Faction in like 6 hours on the hardest setting. I guess since you suck at games you must have the best life ever, congrats you pompous twat.

As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, the way to solve issues like regenerating life, checkpoints, and other frustrating gameplay issues is give the player the option of playing with these turned ON or OFF either by difficulty settings or a straight up individual On/Off options.
It's clear we all want "good gameply"; but it's also clear that we don't all agree on what "good gameplay " is. To some, it's playing on "Hard" for a real challenge. To others, a more forgiving gaming experience is preferred. I get that the game makers want to give us "their vision" of how the game should be played but this is also an INTERACTIVE medium so choice should figure into it.

Was it fun, though? I think his point was that he had fun collecting the Crackdown ones. Though I think most of these collecting missions are crap, though I did like that at least the ones in Infamous help your character instead of being there only for an achievement.

No need to insult a member because he asked a question. Given the list of games you've beaten recently - you must have a lot of time on your hands, and the skill to do so. even 6 hours is a fair amount of time for an adult gamer to be able to invest in my opinion, so calling someone a pompous twat was a little over the line.

Powerful? No. Because I only moderate. But I can point this to the admins who have the power to do much more. I only try to prevent people from stooping to petty name calling.

To get back on track, my biggest gaming industry peeve: The failure rate of the 360. Had my second one die on me today, and it's totally crushed my wife and I's weekend plans. The shoddyness of the 360 is really unacceptable.

This scenario has always made me question the true install base of the 360....Microsoft (or NPD, whatever) reports that they have sold "X" number of systems total, but does that really mean there are that many total 360 owners? I have seen too many people online talking about purchasing a 2nd, 3rd, even 4th unit....how can the sales stats reliably tell us the number of owners when it appears that lots of gamers have purchased more than one??

Lol, I do suck at games, but I still enjoy playing them. I don't even like multiplayer because I get my ass handed every time although I once got really good at sniping in Soldier of Fortune 2.
I grew up in the NES generation where games were so frustrating that slapping the console was pretty common.
Gametrailers says Red Faction 2 is a good 15 hours in length. I trust their opinion, not someone like yourself who just rushes through a game.

Re: What is Your Biggest Pet Peeve with the Gaming Industy?
Another pet peeve of mine:
Microsoft's quick death of Xbox 1. As soon as 360 came out, MS dropped all support of the first gen console. I invested a lot of money in the console, and was miffed that I could no longer buy any new games. Xbox 1 had a great library and it's sad that these titles are barely playable on the 360. It was a solid console, and now we have to stick with the crappy 360 hardware for many more years.

More on the enthusiast side, but I have issues with review scores. More specifically how anymore a 7-8 rating on a 10 point scale is perceived by the general public as a "horrible score". Are you fucking kidding me?!

Re: What is Your Biggest Pet Peeve with the Gaming Industy?
- Patches/Broken games - For a long time PC games had the edge over console games because if something didn't work correctly you could fix it in a patch. For many "great" console games, this meant doing extensive QA testing before release. Now that games have gotten more complex & patchable, games seem to come out in a beta-build, which normally would have ruined any chance of a profit for the game once word got out. Now we sit around for a month or two waiting for the next patch to fix whatever it is. Stuff like Mr. Driller Online not working ONLINE is completely ridiculous and inexcusable at launch.
Games are far more complex than they were 20 years ago. Compare the amount of code in current gen games to your favorite SNES or NES games. The ability to fix issues that weren't found during testing is huge. The ability to fix gameplay that is out of balance or ends up not working well is huge. If we had no way to patch games, for most games, it wouldn't mean a longer QA process, it would mean that we'd just have to live with a lot of little bugs and annoyances.
Patches also allow gameplay to be improved in ways that might not have been possible at release time. Wouldn't it be nice if a lot of older Wii titles could add MotionPlus support now, if the company chose to add it? No patches == no MotionPlus support though, and that stinks.

In the Resident Evil games I've played (which is the earlier ones only) I really like how they do the ammo. It adds a bit of tension that I have to be really conservative with my ammo, and makes one shot kills or things you can kill without shooting a lot more worthwhile.

Yeah, for the most part it's a good thing, especially considering most patches literally take 5 seconds on the 360. It's only a real problem when something big is broken and takes forever to get a patch (Gears of War 2 for example).
