I've only had my 360 since January, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I don't do any online gaming. So far I own/liked/loved:

Halo 3
Grand Theft Auto IV
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (rebought it for the 360)
Bioshock (LOVE this one. Almost done with it. )

I tried Mass Effect and found it boring.

I've been told I'd probably enjoy Half-Life 2 (orange box), Saint's Row 2 and Fallout 3. I've never played any of those series.

Based on this info, what other games should I try?

Gears of War (I preferred #2), Gears of War 2, Orange Box, Dead Space, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Crackdown, Resident Evil 5, F.E.A.R., Condemned 1 and/or 2, Chronicles of Riddick (mostly if you never played it on the xbox), The Darkness

Oblivion isn't bad but it's dauntingly massive, long, and pretty slow going.

I'd say it's a pretty big spoiler. I knew as soon as I read it in the OP that someone was going to bring up that it was a spoiler.

Pretty much anything that's a "secret" achievement and storyline related could probably be classified as a spoiler.

Just because a game has been out for a while doesn't mean everyone's played it.

I just played Assassin's Creed for the first time in December. I still haven't played Mass Effect, or a bunch of other games I've had in my backlog for years. It's not a huge deal for me, but some are more sensitive to that than others.

3rded on Crackdown. Impulse buy, and never regretted it. Something about bounding around in a GTA like city, raining bullets down on the bad guys it just awesome.

Anyway, if you found Mass Effect slow, how far did you get? The first hour or so is really slow, but the story picks up once you leave the first planet.

Fallout 3 started slow for me too, but also picks up. Since you have some 3rd person type games on there, I would definitely play the Gears of War games since those are the flagship 360 games other then Halo 3.

If you enjoyed GTA4, did you buy the downloadable content Lost and the Damned?

Because True Romance is the one of the greatest movies of all-time. So, if someone says that True Romance is not worth a double dip, I have no way to even begin to understand what you would like or dislike, movies or games otherwise.

I just finished Dead Space and I seriously enjoyed it. So much that I can't wait to check out the prequel coming to the Wii eventually.

I made it to some planet driving around in a Moon Patrol-type vehicle and had to fight some big monster that comes up out of the ground. That's where I stopped.

I don't have my XBOX hooked up to online.

Ah, that sounds like one of the first side missions you can do, exploring a distress call. I think hitting one of the next big planets helps move the game along.


Ah, I might be worth it temporarily to download it if you're a GTA fan.

Crackdown and Saints Row 2 have been some of the most fun i have ever had on a console. Both sandbox games are over the top and to me inspired a sense of just "playing."

I was also really bored by Mass Effect (but i enjoyed both KOTORs).
