Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

It would take me a while to narrow down my top 10 I think, but I do know my 3 favorites (I like them all pretty much equally, so it's hard for me to say which one is 1, 2, or 3):

Sid Meier's Civilization
Ultima VII: The Black Gate
Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters

Other games that could make the top 10:

Fallout 2
Planescape: Torment
X-Wing
Syndicate
(the 1993 game, not the recent one)
Day of the Tentacle
Diablo
Dune II
X-COM: UFO Defense
Tie Fighter
Full Throttle
Doom 2
Civilization II
Diablo II
Warcraft 2
Crusader: No Remorse
Crusader: No Regret
Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers
Conquest of the Longbow
King's Quest VI
Wing Commander IV

Ugh, this is hard.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

I'm sure this could be a list where the more I think about it the more I add/change things. But the top choices are definitely the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. I have played at least one of the first four games of that series constantly since 1995, putting in perhaps a billion hours. I keep meaning to try versions 5 or beyond but never do.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

I'm not really a big gamer but I'm a bit shocked to see no mention of Doom. God I loved that game and thought 3dfx was the absolute best.

In no particular order:
Doom
Quake 2
Civ 2
Fallout ... especially New Vegas
Bioshock
Skyrim
Baldur's Gate 1
Baldur's Gate 2
King's Quest
Dragon Age Origins

I was also fond of HOMM but have not played a game in years.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

I imagine parts of my list change every time this comes up.

Quake II
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario Bros. 3
The Secret of Monkey Island
Quest for Glory
Mass Effect
Tecmo Super Bowl
Street Fighter II
Final Fantasy VII

Couldn't decide on the last few, was thinking about other games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Final Fantasy 6, Mass Effect 2, Team Fortress 2, King's Quest 6, Uncharted 2.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

Here's my shot. Tough one, and maybe not the best games but going with what I remember spending the most time with...

Mega Mania (Atari 2600)
Pitfall (Atari 2600)
Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES)
Double Dragon (NES)
Tecmo Super Bowl (SNES)
Mario Kart (SNES)
Duke Nukem (PC)
Command & Conquer:Red Alert (PC)
Red Dead Redemption (360)
Diablo-the entire series

Honorable Mention to the Gears of War and Tomb Raider series.

I'm sure I'm missing a few but gaming for over 35 years can do that to you.

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

These list are so hard...I usually change my mind after I post them. I will say that 4 games always pop up in my head each time I make a list like this.

Baldur's Gate 2 So many hours....

Final Fantasy 6 will always be final fantasy 3 to me...it says so on my snes box...

Mass Effect 2 I have played this from start to finish at least 10 times.

Fallout 3

Bloodborne at this point would make my top 10 for sure...

Re: Your Top 10 Games of All-Time?

NBA Live 95 (Sega Genesis) -- 1st great Hoops game

World Series Baseball (Sega Genesis)

NBA Jam (Arcade/Sega Genesis)

Doom (Sega 32X)

NFL 2K5 (Sega Genesis)

Mortal Kombat

Street Fighter 2 (Sega Genesis)

Tecmo Bowl/Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)

NBA 2K16/2K15 (PS4) -- Tie for my favorite next gen Hoops game.

Kung Fu (NES)

As you can tell, I'm much more of a sports gamer, especially hoops. Surprised none of you listed a 16 bit or next gen licensed sports game.

Tecmo Super NBA Basketball for the SNES which came out in 93 would have to disagree with you. Still one of my favorite sports games ever.

That would be on my list too. Spent way too many hours with the Papy Nascar series. I didn't know a thing about Nascar until someone gave me Nascar Racing 2 with my first(Windows) PC.

No offense, but Tecmo Super NBA was a joke compared to Live 95.
Live 95 was a game changer.

In no order too:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (XBox)
Ninja Gaiden:Black(XBox)
Persona 4 (ps2)
Super Mario World (snes)
Super Castlevania 4 (snes)
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (snes)
Fire Pro Wrestling Returns (ps2)
Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 (n64, Japan)
Perfect Dark (n64)
Chrono Trigger (snes)

I have to add one more: Red Dead Redemption (XBox 360/ ps3)

I didn't think I would be able to rattle 10 games quickly, let alone 11 but this ended up being a sinch.

I wasn't comparing quality between the two games. He said Live 95 was the first great basketball game and I was disagreeing since I consider Tecmo to be a great basketball game and that came out in 93.
