Fallout's Dead Money Detailed
New Vegas' DLC explained by Obsidian.

It's perhaps not the most fitting way to ring in the festive season – unless you're spending your holidays in a parched desert exchanging presents with a league of supermutants – but Fallout New Vegas' first proper slice of downloadable content is likely to be one of December's biggest releases, and Obsidian's Chris Avellone has been on hand to detail what to expect for the Xbox 360 'exclusive'.
Dead Money is set in Sierra Madre, a legendary casino that, like much of the Wasteland, has fallen into disrepair. Only this once opulent palace has done so spectacularly, with a toxic cloud enshrouding the area that's made it almost impenetrable, its only citizens a group called the Ghost People.
"The Sierra Madre is a mythical place in the wastes, with travelers all risking their lives to find it," explains Avellone on Bethesda's newsletter, "Only one man truly "found" it - and lived. After the fall of HELIOS One, Father Elijah of the Brotherhood of Steel set out to find new weapons to eradicate NCR. And in the process he found the Sierra Madre. The Courier is lured to the Sierra Madre by a faint radio broadcast advertising the gala grand opening."
Like Fallout 3's DLC, Dead Money can be accessed by loading up a save file within New Vegas – and also like that previous batch we expect it to migrate to the PC and PlayStation 3 once the Xbox 360's exclusivity period has passed.
Fallout: New Vegas, in case you need reminding, was a largely triumphant return to the Wasteland that's still one of the best ways to witter away a few hundred hours of your lives.

Level 26 at over 60 hours in... just started Vegas but think I am going back to a different save as I inadvertantly talked to a robot and made some decisions I didn't want to make. It does feel that once you hit Vegas the main story can be over rather quickly is that true? I think I will leave and explore some more. I am finding that I really like haveing my speech at 100%.

Get your Speech level to 100 if possible. Makes the ending much easier. A high Barter skill and the Black Widow perk has come in handy for me as well.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
i just picked up boone and wow this game just went from hard to very easy.
He kills everything before they even get close to me.
Is he the most powerful companion in the game?

I have only taken Boone and the Robot so I can't really comment on that but he is great at long distance kills. I have given Boone different weapons to use but he seems partial to the chainsaw and can really can kick some ass with it even on the dreaded Deathclaws!

Has it been stated whether or not the DLC will allow you to level higher than 30? As with F3 I tend to not want to play once I hit the max to keep from losing out on quest XP. Although, It's gonna be real hard to keep from working on the main quests until December if they do.

If you're getting bored, I recommend the explosive weapons. I'm on my 4th time through because for some dumbass reason I want to get all the achievements (only 2 playthroughs from the start, though) so I was getting a bit tired of it, but shooting missles or throwing dynomite at everything was pretty fun, in spite of all the limb damage I took (and all the trouble I had to go through where the bodies had blown).

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm level 30, 85 hours or so of play time. But only half the missions completed I think, and I think I'm halfway in the main story.
I was trying to discover all the locations, I used the perk to show all the locations with my last level up. I had already discovered 150 locations so there were only a few missing. But since I hadn't advanced enough in the main story there are some locations where I need a key to enter, from the different groups I guess.
So I decided to switch to Borderlands in the mean time, and man I used to love that game, but found it so boring after a few weeks of Fallout playing.

Well, if Fallout 3 was any indication... the first DLC for that game (Operation: Anchorage) was released on PS3 about 8 months after the XBOX 360.
from the Fallout 3 wikia page:
Operation: Anchorage was released on January 27, 2009 for PC/Xbox 360 and on October 1, 2009 for PS3.

Last night Boone and I went and took revenge on the Deathclaws in the quarry that kicked our asses earlier in the game

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Anyone know how to find your current companion, if you accidentally left them somewhere??
I thought I left Veronica at Camp McCarran... but when I went back, she wasn't there. None of the other companions (Boone, Raul, etc.) will join me, because they say I already have a follower. Am I doomed to being a lone wanderer once again?

If you leave a companion somewhere, eventually they will return to their point of origin. Raul- His shack, Veronica- The 188 I think it was, Boone- Novac, ED-E- Primm, Lily- Jacobstown, etc.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Well, Veronica did NOT end up at the 188 after several days of losing her. She wasn't at Lucky 38, either. I also thought I might have left her in Gomorrah, but she wasn't there.
But...
The Vault 22 elevator trick worked! As soon as I used the elevator, there she was, like nothing had happened. Thanks MrX!
In other random news, upon returning to the strip, the gate was locked! Turns out this is a known glitch (it may or may not have been mentioned previously in this thread). Anyway, I killed the robots, and they all had a key. Unfortunately, now "the people of the strip" hate me, and the robots attack as soon as they see me. Oh well.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
That sucks. I wasn't able to complete any Legion quest either, even with the coin and/or special permission. I'm planning on doing another game to complete all the Legion quests.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm on the last achievement. Hopefully I can figure out Caravan enough to win another 97 games. The first Fallout is the only game I have the achievements on so I feel like finishing on this one too (but I think it takes a bit more effort this time).
Edit: It was only 30, that was a lot easier than I thought. I still don't understand all the rules, but well enough to mostly win at least.
