Starting from scratch. It's a completely different character with an entirely different background.
My most anticipated game of the year. |

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
wow, visually from the trailer it looks pretty ugly. Almost cheap looking and worse then fallout 3.
the lighting looks flat, looks like they haven't tried improving the visuals at all. animation looks bad too. I loved the art design in Fallout 3 but it didn't look very good in this trailer. Also it doesn't look like a living breathing world that Fallout 3 did. it doesn't look like it could be a real place. looks disappointing. |

Here's a new trailer. I didn't see it posted.

I'm in. Retailer exclusive content once again blows (as in it's bullshit), so I will be buying this used as to not register a sale with them. I don't support this BS stuff.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Trailer looks cool

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Looks cool I just hope there's more stuff to do aside from the main quests. As soon as I finished the quests in Fallout 3 and expansion packs, there wasn't much to do. Random exploring didn't usually yield anything cool or unique since all of the buildings were essentially the same so it wasn't worth the time to look around much beyond the missions.

Fallout: New Vegas irradiating October
Bethesda Softworks has dated Fallout: New Vegas. The semi-sequel to the hit 2008 role-playing game Fallout 3 will ship October 19 in North America, with a European release to follow on October 22. The game will be released on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. |

That's the biggest advantage to the Elder Scroll games. All the different guild quests added up to 2x -3x the length of the main story.
I LOVED Fallout 3 but there just wasn't any incentive to just go around and explore which it seems like a game like that would be perfect at. |

Maybe I had done more side quests than I thought and truly there wasn't much to do at the point in the game I had gotten to. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Joystiq says it's more of the same: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/pr...out-new-vegas/
Which I guess is good. :) |

Can't wait, first day buy for me

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I was backing up my hard drive to an USB drive (just in case I upgrade to the new Xbox) and the part I "hated" most about it was moving my 80 saves from Fallout 3. :D
(Of course there were only 80 because I made a cleanup a long time ago) |

Interesting, I'd been thinking about picking it up (having only played it during a quick rental on the 360 back in 06). That may just sway me to go ahead and grab it.
I LOVED Fallout 3 but there just wasn't any incentive to just go around and explore which it seems like a game like that would be perfect at. Fallout had plenty of one-and-done sidequests but not many that had story behind them. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Bethesda Softworks sent word that avid Fallout fan (and ex-Chandler) Matthew Perry and The Guild’s Felicia Day will be providing voice-overs for Bethesda’s upcoming Fallout: New Vegas game. Perry will voice Benny, the head of the Geckos family, while Day will be Veronica, a sarcastic Brotherhood of Steel scribe.
Danny Trejo, Zachary Levi, Kris Kristofferson, Ron Perlman and Wayne Newton will also be lending their voices to the game. “The voice acting provided by these actors helps drive the compelling and immersive story of Fallout and further adds to the overall gameplay experience,” said Bethesda’s Pete Hines. |

More cast news:
August 10, 2010 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today revealed the star-studded voice over cast for Fallout®: New Vegas™, the follow-up game to the critically acclaimed Fallout® 3. Fallout: New Vegas features Golden Globe-winner and two time Emmy nominated actor Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”, “Sons of Anarachy”), Screen Actors Guild-winner and Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor Matthew Perry (“Friends”), Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, William Sadler (“Shawshank Redemption”), Zach Levi (“Chuck”), Felicia Day (“The Guild”), Michael Dorn (“Star Trek:The Next Generation”), Kris Kristofferson (“Blade Trilogy,”), Danny Trejo (“Machete”, “From Dusk Till Dawn”), John Doman (“Mystic River”, “The Wire”) and Rene Auberjonois (“Boston Legal”, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”). “The Fallout franchise has taken narratives in interactive entertainment to the next level, and we could not be more excited about the all-new celebrity lineup for Fallout: New Vegas,” said Pete Hines, Vice President of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. “The voice acting provided by these actors helps drive the compelling and immersive story of Fallout and further adds to the overall gameplay experience.” Ron Perlman returns to voice the narrator in Fallout: New Vegas, a role he has played in every major Fallout game to date. Matthew Perry plays Benny, a smooth-talking, two faced gangster, and Wayne Newton takes on the role as “Mr. New Vegas,” the radio DJ of the Mojave Wasteland. Three celebrities take on roles as playable companions in Fallout: New Vegas: Danny Trejo is Raul the Ghoul, a mechanic and former gunslinger; Zach Levi is Arcade, a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse who hides a mysterious past, and Felicia Day is Veronica, a sarcastic Brotherhood of Steel scribe. The epic cast continues with Kris Kristofferson as Chief Hanlon, a grizzled solider at the end of his career, and Rene Auberjonois as the enigmatic and reclusive Mr. House. Michael Dorn reprises his role as Marcus, an intelligent super mutant, who was last seen in 1998’s Fallout® 2; John Doman is Caesar, the charismatic and powerful dictator at the head of Caesar’s Legion. William Sadler plays Victor, a friendly robot with the personality of an old fashioned cowboy. In addition to this star-studded cast, players can expect to hear even more celebrity cameos throughout the world of Fallout: New Vegas. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Wow. What's up with the star studded cast. Is it becoming profitable to do more voice over work or are alot of the cast fans of the series?
Fallout 3 was great and the numerous side quests were fun. They weren't as narrative driven as Oblivion though and it was not a as much of a living world like Red Dead Redemption was. but it is still great. I am really looking forward to New Vegas. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
That's good stuff. Can't wait!

In related news, I was not called to take part as a member of the voice cast of Fallout: New Vegas. |
