Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

The collar didn't bother me, nor did the poison gas. It made you think instead of going in guns blazing. Same with the holo guards.

I am right at the end, and I was about to finish and the game froze on me

I'll finish it tomorrow, but I loved it. I am not sure what that patch fixed, btw, because alot of the bugs I noticed at the beginning are still in the game.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

This game is broken in so many ways. I was expecting the same freezes etc from F3, but the actual game narrative is broken in this one. Maybe I'll give it a fresh run after the patch.

Really?

Reviews haven't been so kind.

Sounds kinda like a pain in the ass, actually.

Kind of embarrassing to that reviewer that the thing he says is a game-breaking bug that made him restart is not (since you can switch between the two at will). I guess it's not explained super-well, but I'm fairly crappy at games and was able to figure it out.

I noticed that, too. I am assuming it was IGN's review where he mentioned he chose a certain character and had to restart. All you had to do was
Spoiler:
Play the Master's voice/God's voice to change between the two.

Another thing he mentioned was a supposed onsalught of enemies, and I never had more than two or three on me at once.

Some people complained about losing all your gear at the beginning, I thought it made you feel more vunerable which was good.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Did I understand the fine print correctly, in that I can't play with a character that's completed the game without loading a previous save?

I hope not. I was never fond of multiple saves in F3 or F:NV, so I only have three saves and all are at the battle for Hoover Dam.

Yeah, if you've already started the battle for Hoover Dam, you're not going to be able to access Dead Money.

This is always the correct reaction to that situation.

I want to start a new character for a Hardcore run. Is it fairly easy or rough? Any tips?

Just keep a couple of bottles of water on you and you'll be fine.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Finished the Yes Man ending this weekend after not playing for some time and I have to admit I liked this ending much better than the NCR one which was pretty bland.

For those that have done the Mr. House one do you have to

Spoiler:
blow-up the Brotherhood of Steel? I have tried several times trying to blow them up but can't make it out of the fortress they kill me everytime and I am way outnumbered.

Spoiler:
Yeah, House makes you blow up the bunker. I struggled through that area the first time I had to do it as well for another ending. When I went through a second time for House's ending, I discovered there's a terminal that let's you reprogram the base's turrets to attack the Brotherhood. Really thins out the resistance you face once you activate the self-destruct.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

I still need to finish the main story. 90 hours and I'm trying to find all the locations first...

Also, does it matters if I finish the main story before I start with the DLC?
I guess no, but just want to be sure.

On the contrary, you can't even play the DLC if you've finished the main story and don't have an earlier save to load up.

The game's not kidding around when it warns you you're at the point of no return.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

DLC hitting PS3 next week. Hopefully it will come with another patch that makes the game playable (stops crashing every 20 minutes).

Fallout: New Vegas DLC “Dead Money” was previously released exclusively for Xbox 360 just before Christmas, allowing Xbox 360 gamers to enjoy extended Fallout time whilst sticking out their radioactive tongues in our faces. Well finally Bethesda is spreading the love by releasing “Dead Money” on Playstation 3 and PC. The pack will be available to both PS3 and PC users on February 22nd, which is around two and a half weeks from now.

Not only that but three more expansions are confirmed to be coming in the months to follow, and those expansions will release simultaneously on all three platforms. The previous game Fallout 3 had a very decent amount of expansions, so let’s hope the epic that is Fallout: New Vegas will live on for months to come with a number of great quality DLC packs.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Just got 100% on this today. What a colossal pain in the ass.

Fallout 3 had the same crashing issues... if they haven't fixed it by now, they probably never will.

checked out the Bethesda forum today. there is a new patch, but its only to active Dead Money trophies. But they are working on another for stability.

Fallout3 was nothing like this.

It is if you don't upgrade the securitrons. All that chaos and anarchy - much less so if you do upgrade the securitrons.

BTW, anyboby heard of the new DLC (Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road)?
