Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Sure, I'm ready to give double-digits of my life over to Bethesda -- once again.

I do kinda wish that they would've popped in for Elder Scrolls V first, just for a break from the post-apoc world, but the concept of Vegas still alive and thriving is very compelling.

Is it just me, or was that trailer very underwhelming?

It's a teaser. For a game 9 months away. (And probably even more.)

Bethesda may be working on another Elder Scrolls, since they are not actually putting a lot of man hours into New Vegas...

No way this game comes out this year. I say 2011 at the earliest. Too big of a game to rush, and they need to take their time.

I understand that it is a teaser. It didn't tease me in the least though.

For as game of a good as Fallout 3 was, I guess I just expected too much. I hope I don't get the Phantom Menace Syndrome. (PMD)

It gave us two things: confirmation of a new, full-on Fallout experience, and the idea that Sin City -- an architecturally-dense hub for gambling, prostitution, bright lights and scandalous behavior -- still exists in the realm. Seeing as how Bethesda hasn't disappointed up to this point, that's all I needed to be thoroughly teased.

Yeah, my brain might need to be put on standby mode today. Totally overlooking the fact that this is in Obsidian's dev house.

All the lights in Vegas excite me. I'm not sure how its gonna work having it that populated with you free to start popping shots but I'm excited.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Yeah, it was not as impressive as the teaser for Fallout 3, where at the end you see the Washington Monument, and of course the rest of The Mall destroyed, but it still was great. Kind of a surprise, Vegas is still alive!

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

I am not seeing the point of this. We already had New Reno in Fallout 2 with tons of gambling, prostitution, and mafia dudes. Heck, you could even become a porn star.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

There were a lot of us that never played Fallout 1 and/or Fallout 2, and that are not interested on playing them.

One location versus an entire city in 3D and first person? I don't see a problem with checking out an awesome environment.

I'm surprised anyone who loved Fallout 3 wouldn't have the slightest interest in the original games.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

Playing through Fallout 3 right now. My first time playing any Fallout game. I like it well enough, but at this point, I have absolutely no inkling to check out the previous games in the franchise. Too much other new stuff to play.

The first two Fallout games were excellent. So much to do. Kill anyone, anywhere.

A lot of gamers, especially console gamers, have the mentality that older games are too dated to be fun anymore.

Sucks to be them.

Fallout 1 and 2 were so much better than 3. Sooooo much better.

I loved that the SPECIAL stats actually mattered in the original games. Playing a low Intelligence character was almost a completely different game since your character was literally too stupid to do most things and npcs would generally make fun of you or just ignore you. In Fallout 3, there is very little difference between a low Intelligence and high Intelligence character.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced

I hope they still have the V.A.T.S system. I maxed out Agility, got all the V.A.T.S. related Perks as soon as possible, used low AP-costing weapons, and bought all the Jet I could each time I played FO3. I was pretty much playing a full turn-based RPG by the time I reached level 27.

Agreed. If anything, Fallout 3 makes me want to dig out Fallout 1 & 2 and play them again!
