Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I had to read up on Boone because somehow I completely missed him.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
4.5 hours and haven't died yet in Normal. I've been very cautious though.
These are the times when I wish I was single again, I could spend the whole weekend playing this game. ;) |

You can guess what I did next :D I just stood there and watched. Then I looted. Oh and before that, I was doing the Spoiler:

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Oh and there was an update (at least for the 360 version) today. I still saw the Pip Boy bug, the floating gun bug, the enemies trapped in the ground bug, and and random slowdowns and stuttering. Not sure what they fixed but it wasn't that.
|
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Hopefully they fixed my bug...
I can't progress thru the main quest at all until it is fixed. |

Be sure to write it down. I'll need that advice come March. I am glad most of the good games come out this year, but Dragon's Age Origins 2 comes out in March.... :(

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Played a bit more and ran into more of the "allies start attacking me" issue.
Spoiler:
I reloaded my save and it seemed like if i changed the armor from what i was wearing when i first met him, he would attack me on site when I returned. That's gotta be a bug or the whole outfit scheme is just totally a pain in the ass. |

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Had my first freeze up on the PS3 as I was doing a fast travel. Ugh. Why Fallout 3 and New Vegas are so freeze prone on the PS3 while Oblivion has only frozen on me once in like 40 hours of play is beyond me. Aren't they using basically the same game engine? You'd think if one ran well so would the other.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
There's an unlimited caps glitch out there if anyone is interested. I took advantage and now have over a million caps.

Argh, froze on me the second time. I can't believe how goddamn glitchy this game is.
|
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I just started the game tonight...I put in about 2 hours, and just got to Primm. More of the same, but I loved Fallout3, so I'm not complaining.
It does seem harder though. I'm using a lot more stimpaks than I remember in the first. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I have been lucky...just the one freeze 6 hours in...I am around 27 hours...level 26...I seem to be gaining a level every hour..
Things I have noticed. I am not using VATS as much as I did with Fallout 3. I think this is because of 2 things 1: Vats is not as powerful. In Fallout 3 I would drop guys left and right with vats....now I use up all my AP and maybe take out one guy if I am lucky. 2: The aim feature actually makes a difference....especially with critical hits. I can drop 4 or 5 creatures one after another just aiming.....maybe 1 if I am lucking in vats... as a result I am finding I use Vats only when they get right up on me, and as a tool to cripple legs so I can pull back and keep them where I want them. The game is a lot harder than Fallout 3...with less enemies. Fallout 3, when you walked around you were always fighting...I have had 10 minute stretches where I was never attacked in the wild. The game is dirty...does not bother me, but I usually never notice that stuff in games...but this game made me pause many times with some of the language and sex stuff... Spoiler on a mission where you had to find a sexbot Spoiler:
one area where the games graphics suffer a lot is the guns. They really look like crap, especially the 44 mag..... I love this game guys... |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I still use VATS all the time. But yeah the game is harder, even on easy.
|
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I just had my first freeze about 18 hours into the game. I was going into VATS right outside of the Quarry area, and it just stopped. I had several stuttering issues leading up to the freeze, though. Not sure if that was part of the problem.
I had been playing for a few hours, too. Thankfully, I save every 15 mins or so. I just hope that my save file isn't corrupt or something. I'll check it tomorrow. |

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Is it my imagination (or poor memory from Fallout 3) but does food work differently in New Vegas? I swore in fallout 3 when you'd eat a food item, you'd instantly gain the HP back. Now it seems like it takes time to gain the HP back (once you get the "worn off" message). Am I totally misunderstanding things or is it different? Again, I've been playing a lot of Oblivion the past few months so maybe Fallout 3 was the same and I'm just mixing it up how items in Oblivion take effect.

Also, one money glitch was fixed with the patch on the 360 - the one at the casino in Primm. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Well fuck...second glitch...game just froze walking around...did not mess up the auto save though....so I only lost about 5 minutes.

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
I'm still using a lot of VATS too. I'm level 4 or 5 and my biggest fight so far was when I had to fight 4 young radscorpions and 2 ghouls at the same time. A few sticks of dynamite, and some stimpacks for me, and I was able to handle them without dying.
Oh and I'm so jealous every time I check my friend list and see FOX DVD level! ;) |

Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
This game is amazing. Can't...stop...playing. Everything cascades and you can't get to the end of one task without finding 3 more new ones.
There are an overwhelming number of things to do on the strip itself, not to mention everywhere else. Many more individual quests than I remember from Fallout 3. Last night I had TWENTY-TWO active, unfinished quests in my log, and I already have at least that many completed. I fast travelled to a certain location and found myself dropped into the middle of a pack of deathclaws, about 8 or 9 of them. Even though I had a pretty awesome companion with me at the time who was holding his own, I had already gone one-on-one with a deathclaw earlier, so I just placed the controller on my lap and watched the massacre. Way different from Fallout 3, where deathclaws could be taken out in 2-3 hits after you reached a certain level. Also, those @!#% cazadores...3-4 hits and you're done! I'm totally taking the Entomologist perk soon. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
lol..about 14 hours..and still haven't made it to the strip yet. I'm slumming it up in the Redconn facility

Still undecided if I'll check under every rock in every town or try to advance the story more quickly. If I continue at this pace I won't get to Vegas until like 30 hours or so. |
Re: Fallout New Vegas Announced
Ok, if you can, find Vault 11 right now and explore every bit of it. Even if you are the kind of person who skips a lot of the computer writing, take your time and read everything, and explore everything....
Vault 11 has been a high point with this game so far. DON'T READ ANYTHING ABOUT IT STAY AWAY FROM SPOILERS....I know I am hyping it up a bit, and maybe that will take away from how much fun you will have with it, but my god that was great... |

as far as companions go my favorite so far has been Spoiler:
I had the same thing happen with deathclaws as the above picture, and I did not even think about it...dropped landmines over and over...did not kill them, but it crippled the 4 of them enough to allow me to get back...sniper was all it took. With the way DT works in this game, DPS is not as important against hard enemies as the main dmg...snipers are number 1 in this area, and even against deathclaws on hard...it takes them out quick..as long as they don't take you out first... |
