Mainstream or not, Fallout 2 had the deeper experience. But I have no qualms against those who voted for Silent Hill 2 because that's also a great game, and Fallout 2 is much more of a "niche" title (it's not intended to be everyone's cup of tea).

What irked me is the assumption that just because something is a little more well known (and don't fool yourself, Fallout TWO was a pretty huge release back when it came out) that it's not as great as something that was less mainstream. I just don't like people on their high-horse thinking someone's opinion is invalid based on the incorrect assumption that it's an uninformed opinion. So while they're definitely not even similar games, I certainly prefer the first two Fallout games to all Silent Hill games, except for SH2, which I consider a masterpiece. Shocking, I know...

I think you're overreacting to taffer's post, and honestly I don't find it incorrect to say that more mainstream and well-known titles are going to do better in these polls or contests, especially against a PC only title. You may be an exception, but I don't see why you take it personally.

I'd also have to disagree with you that Fallout 2 was a huge release. It's far less known then the other Interplay RPG's of the era.
