My pics bolded:
Age of Empires II - strategy games suck
Streets of Rage 2 - one of the best beat-'em-ups ever made
Fallout 2 - love this game
Silent Hill 2 - tough choice, but SH2 is still the best survival horror game ever made
Dragon Quest VIII - great RPG, though a bit long in the tooth
RalliSport Challegen 2 - tough to compare, but I had more fun with RC2 than DQ8
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - not even a contest - one of the greatest platform games ever made
MVP Baseball 2005 - all baseball games suck. it's true, and you know it!
God of War - a classic
Super Monkey Ball - fun, but forgettable

I wonder if I will still be the only vote for Monkey Ball by the end of voting?

Nope. I just voted. And that was before reading this.
RalliSport Challenge 2 is, in my opinion, the finest racing game ever made.

I just looked the full tournament bracket. How did we not nominate a single Contra game? Collectively, we should be ashamed.

We can safely infer that RC2 > F-Zero (also a racing game).
Since F-Zero is one of the best games, then RC2 is better than some of the best.
I think that, being a Bus, he's jealous he can't drive that fast and lives vicariously through racing games.

Dragon Quest VIII is one of the top 2 or 3 games I've ever played in my life, and I've played plenty. A truly amazing experience. So yeah, that one.

I still think RalliSport Challegen would be doing better if it was correctly spelled.
And I have two sealed copies of F-Zero for my SNES in case it ever stops working. And I bought it for the Wii.

Streets of Rage 2 - one of my favorite beat 'em ups ever.
Silent Hill 2 - extremely scary, a great sequel.
Dragon Quest VIII - not a huge racing game fan
SMW 2 - really easy pick.
God of War - same.

I've played a grand total of 3 of those games, two of which are matched up against each other:
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
God of War v. Super Monkey Ball - God of War was awesome but damn repetitive. Monkey Ball by a tail. Gotta root for the underdog, er, monkey.

I will re-run it next round of votes if there is a tie. The "seeding" doesn't really apply to this group as they all got 2 initial votes.

No kidding. Nothing says this a very mainstream gaming forum more than Fallout 2 losing in the first round to Silent Hill. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many of the posters here never even heard of the Fallout series until Bethesda's mainstream Fallout 3 title. Speaking of which, I bet Fallout 3 will fare a lot better...

Oh, screw your holier than thou attitude against SH2 - it's easily the best game out of the series, and every bit a quality game as Fallout 3 is - oh, but it was a "mainstream game", so it's gotta suck compared to Fallout 2 - fuck that. I played both games thoroughly, and while I enjoyed both, SH2 was the better videogame experience.

I'd say it's more of the lack of knowledge that this forum has on PC games. Nothing against Silent Hill, which is a great survival-horror game and series, but i'd argue Fallout 2 is viewed by many as a genre defining game. It's a shame that more people haven't played it.
