Yeah, there's a letter in this month's Game Informer(Batman cover) where the writer was playing Bayonetta on "Normal" and was getting his ass kicked much like you. He said he finally just set aside his pride and played on "Easy" and had a great time. The letter was spawned by an earlier article about Game difficulty settings.

Yeah, my first playthrough was on easy, which let me learn the game, have fun and get some upgrades to use for my 2nd playthrough, which I did on normal - having played through it once on easy, and now with some upgrades, normal was more manageable and I can see how it would be frustrating to play it on that difficulty on the first time without good upgrades.

I didn't think of setting it on easy. I assume that would effect the "finish the game on normal" acheivement? Not to mention at least one of the "finish chapters xx-xx on normal" one.
Maybe if I see it for like $5 in the future, I might bite again.

Bayonetta is my game of the year, easy. I'm ashamed I didn't play it when I got it at launch, but in hindsight, at the time I just wasn't in the mindset for a lot of gaming so it kind of worked out that I let a few things going on in my life settle before diving into it.

Bought this a couple days ago to go with my new Xbox 360 S. TRU had it on clearance for $9.98.
About 11-12 Chapters in and I'm loving it. Boss battles are worth the price alone.

My ten buck copy from Amazon got here the other day. Holy crap is this over the top. I'm only about an hour into it, and i'm definitely still just mashing a lot of buttons, but the presentation, cutscenes, music, and ridiculousness alone are worth it so far.
I'll have to go check out those PDF guides, see if they can help me a bit [I've never been real good at DMC type games].
You can drop the difficulty down before starting each chapter, can't you, or was it only at the start of the game? Given what people are saying, I should probably play on Easy, but I'd like to do something in the game, not have it play itself.

I might be in the minority here (because I seem to be on the XBOX forums,) but I was underwhelmed by the game. Sure, it had a great fighting system, but it was far too out there and nonsensical. I also didn't like the way it was structured and how some parts controlled.
To each their own, I guess.

I doubt many would recommend it at $59.99, but at $10 (and with free game guide), why not? Right?
My copy came yesterday. Looking forward to trying it soon.

Sorry for the bump but I've been jonesing for an action game ever since I finished Dante's Inferno about a year ago. I will be picking this up cheap today. Looks like once most of you got into the meat of the game it was pretty great so here's hoping...

i regret getting rid of it. i gave up on it a little too quickly. it was just a little "too out there" and corny for me at the time.

I didn't have time yesterday I was debating between that and Blazblue Calamity Trigger. I know they are both different games. Funny thing is that I don't really care for a anime. But Calamity Trigger looks much better than Street Fighter 4.

This reminds me that my copy of the game is collecting dust on a shelf since I never got around to playing it beyond the prologue.

Just finished this one up last night and if I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be "unbelievable." Like others, I was originally put off by the demo but ended up picking it up for $5 or so and decided to give it another try, and I'm really glad I did. This is the most fun I've had with a game in some time. Just the complete craziness that goes on in this game from the enemies, the combat, the bosses and the character transformations is fantastic. It did get a little tougher late in the game, but I was able to finish it on normal and I plan on going through it again on hard later in the future. This is one game that people should really pick up and try, especially now that DMC has come out with good reception.

I would really like to play this, but am holding out hope that Wii U will get a version released to tie in with Bayonetta 2.
