Wow that was over quick. I didnt get to finish my DM CD!

Pretty weird too. I dont know how you do it chess but you can shoot me down while I manuever yet I easily miss you. You can find the health in the game fast too! Not to mention I die with one slash of the knife but cant take a single person down with it.

Something about this game felt off... It was fun though.

Chew 04-08-09 06:30 AM

I really hate those knives.

I'd like to open up the discussion about including some of the DLC at some point. Maybe an "all DLC" session once per month?

Guess I signed on after everyone had jumped ship. I played a couple of Zones contests online to make it worth the login before going to bed.

Are the DLC maps worth the purchase? They look to have quite a bit of variety.

It's feast or famine on Warhawk nights. It was just me and Chew for the first hour, I think, and we only got up to five people. :(

Last week was packed though, so I'm not giving up on you guys!

You and eroc were just destroying me in the dogfight. Every time I'd get a good bead on one of you, the other would have me locked on. Dodging missiles is an acquired skill, and it's much easier to do in pro-flight. It looks to me like you're in standard flight with that little backflip maneuver.

The knife is always a one-hit kill, it's just a matter of connecting.

The thing that felt off to me was that I forgot to check off "all-talk" (it automatically unchecked when I tried to make it a ranked match). I like when the teams can talk to each other...and it would have been fun to talk trash with you and eroc a bit. It looked like you guys were coordinating really well from my point of view, and I had to get downright cheap to stay in the fight sometimes.

We also didn't have enough people this week.

I think the DLC maps are worth it, especially the third one (crater). I love that map, and the other two provide some nice variety (snow and industrial).

I don't think we're ready to commit a Tuesday to DLC though.

I was, unfortunately, asleep by 8:30pm... work kicked my ass, then came home to some needy kids...

Next week I should be back...

Chess, as for the ranked... yes, the "ranked game" won't start until you reach the min. required people... but once it's going, people can drop out and it will continue... but, you could sit there for the whole 20 minutes waiting for 8 people, then just move on to the next map... but if you reach the 8 people, the "game" starts and timer will also "start"... so you could sit on the same map for 40 minutes... ranked games are ALL I play.. until I played with the DVDTalk clan... you don't earn any ribbons or points toward badges in unranked games either...

believe me, I understand...hope you're there next week!

The lack of "all talk" is the real dealkiller for me. I really enjoy chatting with everybody during the game. This week, with "all talk" off, I didn't have nearly as much fun as I usually do.

Ultimately, I'm much more interested in having fun than earning badges.

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges.

 Actually I didnt even have my btooth on but eroc and I did do pretty good. I still have my controls on basic flight, I should probably change those. I think what felt off to me was my controls had a slow response. I would push the pad to change weapons and it wouldnt register. I was getting pretty pissed at it. Also it seems I cant shoot continous. Does the warhawk guns over heat? I dont see a meter to register it.

Not sure about the controller, but the Warhawk can get frustrating. Suffice to say that you were doing fine. You probably killed me more than I killed you. The one nice thing about standard flight is that you gain altitude when you dodge, which gives you the advantage. The bad news is that decent players (not me, of course) will adapt to that and just climb with you. Dodging in pro-flight (at least the way I do it) keeps you at the same altitude, unless you choose to climb.

The guns go overheat, just like your turbo. I don't recall where the meter is.

Yes, they do overheat... the "Pro" tip for that is to NOT hold down the button, but rather, hit it reapeatedly VERY fast... you can shoot 'em forever that way.

If I recall... the meter is the bar in the lower left corner of the screen... when you overheat, I think it says "Overheated" above it until the cool down. Honestly, it's been a LONG time since I've ever run into this, since I use the tap technique...

Sorry to hear that murray. Hope you're feeling better.

Ultimately, we need at least 4-6 who are fairly reliable to keep this thing going. I doubt Chew had much fun shooting at me for an hour before other folks came online. :)

I need all the practice I can get. :)

Which reminds me, I'm guessing that one map with me on the ground and you in the Warhawk in which I was standing on the road just below an overpass must of been one of those in which we couldn't hear each other?

I was standing there trying to see if you could actually run over me with a Warhawk......and then you carpet bombed me.

Yep, that was the first one. It was the first "team" game, so you could only hear your "team", which at the time, consisted of "you".

"carpet bombed"

I can only push you around with the Warhawk. I think I bombed you just to show you weapons that you might not have seen. The cluster bomb is cool but hard to master. I haven't mastered it.

Warhawk tomorrow night!

Who's in?

If there's a team Warhawk-only map this week, apologies in advance to my teammate(s) for being completely worthless.

Hell I should be in. But if it ends early again, maybe not. I may go out and I may not be back till 9pm at the earliest.

People better show. The first night was a big hit!

Me and my buddy Eroc will be on for sure.

This makes me a bit nervous about setting up team games.

Chew 04-14-09 10:48 AM

Looks like they're working on a space-themed version of Warhawk called Starhawk (must of taken a while to come up with that one!)

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.c...arhawk_580.jpg

Maybe I'll be a better flyer when I have the vastness of space to help me avoid bumping into stuff. ;)

How did they come up with a picture like that? It's like they are actually out in space!
