chess, could you repost all of his headset settings again?
And then maybe we should take a map just to concentrate on checking our headsets to make sure everyone can hear everyone else! |

Yeah, that was me. I think I heard you a few times but it was kinda quiet and I wasnt real sure what you said. Really chess is the only one I can hear clearly in general.
Are you guys able to hear me ok? I have the mic that came with warhawk and it seems like you guys can hear me, but you never know. |

I've been missin' out lately... I will do my best to get in on next Tue...
Agree with the wired USB headset. I've had two bluetooth ones, the Warhawk one, and my cell phone one, both sucked. Bought a $20 USB one-ear set that was good. Now I have a $50 stereo set that kicks ass. I was gunna tell you the trick to the Jetpack is to let off the thrust, but I'm a day late and a dollar short, as someone already beat me to it. Obviously, I've been missing out on some serious fun... and a Clan trophy! |

Level: 3 Input: Headset Output: Headset (at least one of you has this set to their TV...causes echo) In-Game Audio Options: (these will save for future games) Music: 0% (I originally turned it off so I could hear mines) SFX: 100% Voice: 100% Sensitivity: 30% (adjust until ambient effects don't regularly activate {light up} your mic) Open mic: checked (works well with a good headset) Stereo: checked (directional effects in Warhawk are amazing, but my rear surrounds activate my mic too much) And then maybe we should take a map just to concentrate on checking our headsets to make sure everyone can hear everyone else! |

I use the PlayStation Eye as my mic and it is 10 feet away so I enunciate as much as possible. One vehicle that's fun to use on Vaporfield is the troop transport. That thing has a ram attack and can generate a destructive and protective force field!

You're very hard to understand. I know the Eye makes a decent mic, but I bet you're the one that I get the echo from as it picks up the game sounds and my voice as well. Maybe you could move it closer for Warhawk night?

Maybe I'll switch to my Bluetooth headset for those nights. I agree on creating a lobby just to test our headsets, especially if we eventually plan to take this act "on the road!" I think I still even have my old SOCOM USB headset - I'll try that too if I can find it!

I've had the expansion packs for over a year, and I've never driven the troop carrier or flown the big transport that came with the industrial map. I'll have to do a midsize CTF on the glacier just to try it out (finally). |
Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
No kidding, I've never used either one, but your reasoning seems sound. Will a TOW take it down? Missile turret?
|
Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I think the ground transport would be ok with our size because it is generally vulnerable...however it also requires a warhawk in the air to keep up with it really as it can out run a tank and a single manned jeep. The main difference between that and the air transport is the ground transport only has ramming capability while the air transport can rain down massive amounts of ammo on the ground and take out most any ground attack.
|
Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I dont know what AIR weapons will take it down...I just know that the combination of speed and weapon effectiveness favors a warhawk in taking down the transport whereas ground vehicles dont have much of a chance unless there are a lot of them. Also, if you are a single warhawk trying to take it down while another warhawk is helping to defend it could prove difficult. Basically I could easily see a case where you would escort the air transport with your warhawk and then it would be difficult for anyone to take it down.
I played in a game recently where the other team was full of warhawk fliers and my team wasn't and they just had all of the transports in the air annihilating all our ground forces and they just walked the flag back to their base over and over. It would be nice if they would balance the effectiveness of ground vehicles against air vehicles. You need both to win games, but they clearly favor the air vehicles...just look at the number of weapon options that are given to warhawks compared to ground vehicles. bleh |
Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
[QUOTE=ween;9455771]And chess, you get no sympathy from me on that frozen tundra map when you were getting sniped and binoculared...that was pure karma for all the TOW missiles which is no different then sniping with a MOAB...If only there were a setting to remove those and mines ;)[QUOTE]
Well I got the "No mines" line for using them once so... howbout.... no TOW? :D If somethig is gone from ground warfare, why not the sky? Whos with me people!! |
Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Say No to TOW! ;)

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
Uh oh, thats 2 votes already. I say 4 = majority!
To join the discussion, I had my tooth going but only hear chess. I think I heard Digi cause I heard a dudes frusturation. :) I think Chess is the only one that can hear me (did anyone else?) cause we communicated well. I have my voice setting a level low so that I sound 'slower' as I tend to talk fast. So I can only hear Chess good and everyone else was mostly noise. I had a blast till it got to the expansion packs. Than I was booted. All good as I had UNCHARTED to play!!! And yea chess, I am VERY cheap when it comes to buying anything  My highlight. Blowing up Digi from a few miles away with a tank and him blaming chess. Lucky shot I guess! And I need the clan leander passed my way when someone gets the chance. |

Bottom line: Not a chance, but I will try to refrain from using the TOW from halfway across the map* *reserves the right to hit missile turrets from halfway across the map. ;) |

I'd like to see some balance to that! Reality: There is not a vehicle that is more vulnerable than a Warhawk...plus they are always visible on the map. |

chess and chew, didja like my tank swap strategy at Ruined Capital?

Reality: There is not a vehicle that is more vulnerable than a Warhawk...plus they are always visible on the map. 1> It is not always one shot, it depends on where you hit the warhawk. There have been numerous times where I get a wing shot and it takes 3 of those to take down a warhawk 2> Those are hard earned, generally precise(lucky) shots unless the warhawk pilot is just hovering there steering a TOW. Now, unlike: a> The Lightning blast which requires no aim and takes out a square block b> The TOW...which is like driving a kamikaze warhawk c> The cluster bomb, much like the lightning gun Nevermind the speed of a warhawk and the fact that it has access to the entire map and even more annoying on the hero levels where you can just fly off to Timbuktu and avoid all ground combat entirely. Excuse me while I feel no pity for you always being visible on the map  |

Now, unlike: a> The Lightning blast which requires no aim and takes out a square block b> The TOW...which is like driving a kamikaze warhawk c> The cluster bomb, much like the lightning gun I think you might have some misconceptions about the Warhawk, and I also think that if it were as great as you say, you'd spend more time in the air. Truth is...it's scary up there. A typical encounter goes like this: jet into an area to unload on somebody, dodge tank fire (any one of which will kill me), avoid sniper fire, pray nobody's in a missile turret, why's my life going down?, 50 cal on that jeep...crap...somebody's locked on with a missile...flight mode...turbo...missile dodge...where the f' was that health...crap...another missile lock...dodge...is my team going after the flag?...why didn't I just master the tank?...spawn. Nevermind the speed of a warhawk and the fact that it has access to the entire map and even more annoying on the hero levels where you can just fly off to Timbuktu and avoid all ground combat entirely. Excuse me while I feel no pity for you always being visible on the map  It is nice to be able to jet off and recharge my health, but it only takes one of you getting the controls down to change the whole equation. |
