Target VG Clearance - YMMV
 

stopped by 2 Target stores today and saw a massave amount of games for the 360, PS3, Wii, and DS... i was surprised at how many games where actually worth buying. The 2 stores where in Burbank and in Van Nuys

heres a list at the ones i noticed

Xbox 360
Too Human
Lego Batman
Facebreaker
Tigerwoods 09
Endwar (game only)

PS3
Far Cry 2
Fracture
Haze
Endwar (game only)

they had many more but i was not able to note the names down ... the Van Nuys store had the most ... in 2 different sections of the store ... they had ATLEAST 4-10 copies of each game. Except Far Cry 2 i got one of the lasts

Prices where 29.98 at the VN store

Ive also read that many other Targets are having the same items on clearance not just i Ca.

Most of the Targets have a permanent clearance area on an endcap somewhere for all the video games. There is an ongoing thread at CAG that has the best prices listed and what games have been found.

I have bought about a 1/3 of the games I purchased in the past 4 months at clearance at Target stores, though the stores I visit in IL are not as "progressive" with their clearance pricing as I have read elsewhere.

Overall, this is a BIG YMMV.

Games I have purchased on clearance:

Uncharted $29.98 (though it had been noted as low as $14.98)
The Darkness $13.98
Virtua Fighter 5 $13.98
Mercenaries 2 $27.98 (though others have found it for $20.98)
Fracture $19.98

Recently found, but not purchased:

Far Cry 2 $29.98
Gran Tourismo Prologue $19.98
Rock Band Track Pack 2 $14.98
Haze $19.98 (I had already purchased it for $9.99 at Best Buy, and it wasn't even worth that)

Yeah, I got Lego Batman from the clearence pile a couple weeks ago. I'ts gotten cheaper since, but oh well :(

My Target has a ton, more than what's listed above, but nothing I want to pay more than $10 for. Unfortunately as of late, nothing gets that low at my Target anymore.

Picked up Too Human for $20 and the track pack for $15. I stopped playing Too Human when I borrowed it somewhere in Act 2. Enough time has passed where I think I could drudge through some of that again. I wanted to finish it, but the repetitiveness wore on me, but it should be okay in small doses.

Usually they don't, but if you're interested in any of the games listed it's worth checking out. The Target I went to had a ton of these games out when I was there last week.

Anyone in Seattle, the Northgate stores has about 5 copies each of Lego Batman, Too Human, Mercenaries and Rock Revolution.

Not sure of what it has for PS3 though

Stopped at another Target and was pretty surprised. They had the original Rock Band band kit for 360 for $69. They also had the new Tomb Raider and Soul Cailber 4 games for 360 for $29 each.

The only time I've gotten a good deal on video games from the Target clearance was when I worked there. Most of the crap gets bought by the time it hits 50% which is usually still a bit overpriced.

I always wander past the Target clearance area. No killer deals lately.

Last year I had a few good deals. Like FFV for GBA for $7.99. Long ago I picked up a couple of Dreamcast games like Marvel vs SNK for $5 and flipped them on ebay for $30. :D Always worth checking out.

I found these too. I actually picked up the Rock Band kit because we intend on having a Rock Band set-up at our wedding reception (whenever the time rolls around)

There is an eternal thread over at CAG about Target clearance items, and while the items clearanced are pretty consistant across the country, it takes certain stores longer to mark down to the really low price points. My store happens to be one of those slow stores.

I did find a 120 GB hard drive a few months ago for $39.99, which I picked up and bought without hesitation.

If it makes you hate me any less, I sold it to a friend for cost + $5. I already had a 120GB drive, and I resisted the temptation of offers from CAGs who wanted to give me $90 for it.
