It's worth checking out at least the demo then. I really dislike Halo and I still found it enjoyable and decided it was worth renting.

Re: Halo Wars

Well, I guess I just changed my tune about waiting for a used copy. Game Deal Daily is selling the game in the LE tin opened but new for $39.99 + $5 s&h. From what I understand, he's just taking the exclusive Halo 3 map and in-game wraith codes and selling them on ebay. It's a damn good deal so I went ahead and ordered one.
I've bought stuff from them before and it's been fine. They use Google check out as well.

Re: Halo Wars

That's not a bad deal. If my unplayed pile was a little smaller I'd jump on it.

Re: Halo Wars

LOL, the Halo Mythic map pack is selling for $45+ on Ebay LINK and Higher LINK. Why wouldn't people just buy the game, keep the code, and sell the game on Ebay if that's all they want? That's alot of money for a $10 map pack.

Fuckin' SELL, SELL, SELL!!!! Like RIGHT NOW. Folks are putting that code on ebay BIN for $50 and selling in under an hour. For a map pack that will be $10 in two weeks.

If I knew how crazy people were I would so have bought the LE. I'm having buyer's regret over a very good deal now.

Is it confirmed the maps will be available on XBLM in two weeks? I want to get a lot more people playing these maps.

Re: Halo Wars

meh, I redeemed my code. I'll probably get the new halo 3 achievements sooner or later.

Back on topic though, I beat Halo Wars last night and it was great! A friend and I then started Legendary on co-op and did 5 levels....its quite challenging.

You are a fucking machine. How long did it take to go through the single player missions? What is your overall impression of the game? How does it compare to other RTS games that have been released for the 360?

Looks like he's had it since at least Feb 26th - so it wasn't a one night thing

But, since it's a single campaign with no resource collection - that doesn't seem too unrealistic.

Re: Halo Wars

it's 15 missions, each taking less than 30min...some take 10min or less. It's a really fun game and works better than most other console RTS's. I'd say it took me about 5 1/2 hrs or so to go through it on easy.

Re: Halo Wars

I bought this game thinking it would have a lot of DLC but with Ensemble Studios getting shutdown, do you think there will still be DLC for this game?

Re: Halo Wars

I put in the code to redeem the flame decals for the warthog and the warthogs don't have the flames. Am I missing something. I played Campaign, Multiplayer on Live and local and they dont have them. I checked my harddrive and it shows it downloaded.

Some of the ex-Ensemble Studios formed a new studio, Robot Entertainment, and they say they are working on DLC for Halo Wars.

Re: Halo Wars

Ensemble Claims Bungie Tension Over Halo Wars
Bungie was kind of sore about the idea. What they called it was 'the whoring out of our franchise'.

Halo creators Bungie apparently disapproved of 2009's Halo Wars as it was essentially "the whoring out of [its] franchise", according to the founder of Ensemble Studios.

In an interview with Games Industry, Tony Goodman revealed some of the stresses and tensions that accompanied Ensemble making its final game.

Apparently the game was never meant to be linked with Halo in any way, but Microsoft forced Master Chief on the project late into the development cycle amid fears that the game wouldn't sell well otherwise.

"Microsoft was pretty risk averse," He said. "They said, 'I don't know if we want to take the risk of creating strategy games on a console. We'd feel better if Halo were attached to it.' The difficult part of that was it took the game back about a year in development, and I think it never quite turned out the same. They just said, 'Why don't you just paint over what you have with Halo stuff?' But things aren't quite that simple."

What was more complicated, however, was the fact that this created a great deal of tension between Bungie, who created the Halo franchise, and Ensemble, who had already put an immense amount of time into the game. Apparently Bungie didn't have the manpower to take on the game itself, but was deeply unhappy with its IP being used by another company and on another genre.

According to Goodman, "Another problem was that Bungie was never up for it... Bungie was kind of sore about the idea. What they called it was 'the whoring out of our franchise' or something. Yeah, that didn't create a great relationship between us and Bungie; they viewed us as someone infringing [on their franchise]."

Ensemble Studios was established in 1995 and created the Age of Empires series of games before being acquired by Microsoft in 2001. It was then used as an internal studio before being closed down after the release of Halo Wars in 2009 and all its upcoming titles were cancelled.

Re: Halo Wars

fun game...
I still say it has the best cut scenes of any Halo game....one late in the game gave me chills..

all of them cut together...30 minutes..worth it if you are never going to play the game...

Re: Halo Wars

Because putting out 5 Halo titles in 10 years isn't whoring out already. Pot, meet kettle.
