This is a common misconception about the game. In the first game, it was definitely possible to save all 50 survivors and still complete all the missions. It was difficult but it could be done.

I have been watching a couple people play through DR2, and from what I am seeing the times between main missions are more lenient and spread further apart so it should be possible to save all survivors and do all missions in it as well.

The save system works the same way as it did in DR1. You save either at the safe house or in one of the rest rooms. There are more rest rooms in DR2 and there are three save slots available. A complaint about DR1 is that there was only one save slot.

The loading time on the consoles is really bad. I have been watching someone play the 360 version, and even with the game installed to his hard drive the loading times can be over 20 seconds long. There is also some very noticeable framerate slowdown in the outdoors area.

Someone else I have been watching has been playing the PC version, and the loading times and framerate issues are nonexistent in the PC provided you have a decent system. His loading times never went past 5 seconds and the framerate never went below 30 fps.

Oh and for an awesome combo weapon try combining gems from a jewelry store with a flashlight. I won't spoil it, but it you know your sci-fi trivia you can probably guess what it does.

My copy shipped today. I have found that the key to getting new releases is to make sure you have no games in your queue that have already been released and to get your old game in the matching envelope in the mail no later than Thursday of the week prior to the release date. Works for me all the time.

Yep. This is where the multiple play-throughs come in. Once you know where there the survivors are, the requirements for rescuing them, and the timeframe in which they appear, you can do it. But it requires pre-planning.

I don't mind the multiple-playthroughs in these games at all. Figuring out how to do a "perfect" run is probably the thing I enjoyed most about the first game. Looking forward to doing it again.

The first one frustrated me to no end due to the horrendous load times, and this one appears to repeat that issue. I guess I'll skip it for now.

The first game didn't have long loading times in my opinion. If you thought they were long, then you will be extremely frustrated with DR2 because the loading times are much much longer in it.

Do you have a gaming PC? Loading is lightning quick on it with 3-4 GB of RAM. The archaic 512 MB RAM on the Xbox 360 is really starting to show its age.

On another note, on the PC version there is an option for DLC on the main menu. So that means that either Case Zero and Case West won't be 360-exclusive forever or there will be even more DLC later.

I'm guessing the load times might be improved by installing to the hard drive...?

They are improved, but as I said in an earlier post I was watching someone play the 360 version with the game installed to the hard drive and the loading times were still very long.

Re: Dead Rising 2: Vegas Zombies!

Anyone pick this up yet? I was hoping to find it for less than MSRP for PS3 (as I recently did with New Vegas and GT5 preorders) but no luck and I might just go get it later this week locally. I loved the first game so I think I'll enjoy the hell out of this one too.

Got it for rental at blockbuster, will try it after work

Kmart gives a 20 dollar gaming coupon for buying it there I think. I think that's the best you are going to get right now.

I just picked it up. Just got to the part where you actually start playing the game. So far, so good.

Re: Dead Rising 2: Vegas Zombies!

I got mine from Kmart with the $20 gift card. PS - if you register at kmart.com under "coupons & specials" and then under "email deals" you'll get an instant $5 coupon for anything over $50. If you also register for their customer card you can start to accumulate points for $$ off anything there. Kmart is the new white trash Amazon.

This feels like more of the same...

I wanted to love this game, but I find myself rushing so I can play Castlevania next week. This is just so...the same.

I agree, but that's not a bad thing. I noticed the following similarities to part one so far:

1. The game takes place in a mall. Yeah, a mall that has casinos. I guess that makes sense since you needed more stores which is always good.

2.
Spoiler:
The beginning starts out the same. A ton of nobodies die no matter what, you go to a security room, meet a guard, exit a vent, etc. There's even a wide open are where a guy is on a bike trying to kill you instead of people in a jeep.

Oh and there's also an area that totally looks like the area of DR that had the hardware store, Meaning scaffolding, a fountain, boarded up shops, etc.

3. Similar weapons but the combo system makes up for it. I have the guide, and flipped through it....there was three or four pages of combinable weapons.

I am enjoying it alot. I died three times and restarted just for the hell of it. Let me tell you that you haven't truly lived until you're wearing a Blanka mask, and in your underwear riding a tricycle. The only thing better was when I stopped and threw up

Never played the first one. This game is hard as shit, it's whipping my ass. I am not sure if I like it honestly.

Didn't like the first one. Probably too hard for me, plus I didn't like the way the character controlled. This sounds like a pass for me (though I am a sucker for Vegas-based games).

Vegas Casinos are malls. The Casinos are not so connected like they are in Fortune city, but they are all filled with stores to shop in.

I really like the sameness. It's sort of like having Dead Rising blanked out of my mind and getting to experience it again. Same gameplay (with improvements) and feel, but I'm in an unknown environment with no knowledge of how the cases work. So the sense of exploration is brand new, and that's maybe the greatest aspect video games have over other mediums.

I really like the game lot, definitely lives up to the first game.

Re: Dead Rising 2: Vegas Zombies!

If I remember right there were a handful of casinos that were connected at one time. MGM, Bally's and another one. The alcohol consumption kind of limits my memory from Vegas
