Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

The Wii is getting a lot of violent M-Rated games this year which is strange considering it's kid friendly rep. Some of these games are:

House of the Dead: Overkill
Madworld
Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers
Fatal Frame 4 (?)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (?)
The Conduit
Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

I just hope some of these sell. That is the worry. Wii has a pretty big user base now so hopefully there are a few hundred thousand that will buy these. I really want Madworld.

Really looking forward to The Conduit - Really hope this sells well

Interested in:

Madworld
Bikini Zombie Slayers (who wouldn't be!)

Don't forget the Cursed Mountain game.

I'm not thrilled that they are adding excessive profanity to the new House of the Dead game though, although I love me M-rated violence.

I thought that was kind of the point though. It is supposed to be over the top grindhouse. Maybe they went too far with the language though. Is it like an F bomb every other word or something?

Fatal Frame 4 probably won't come out in the US.

No More Heroes sold a few hundred thousand, and that was enough to get a sequel. These games, especially Madworld, appeal to the same demographic. I expect them to sell better, and hopefully that means a shift in philosophy for some developers.

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

Ok so I've been waiting a while now for Fatal Frame so I need to know, can imported versions of games play on a unmodded US Wii?

I don't care what reviewers say, I can't wait to pick up Dead Rising. Even if it is a shadow of the 360 version... it is one of the many games that I missed when I traded my 360 in.

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

At least in the Wii version you can actually see the text that shows up. It was to damn small on the 360 version. Seems to be a prob with a lot of 360 games though. So can anyone answer my previous question?

99% of the time, no. Nintendo region-locks their games.

Honestly I like the way Capcom defended this port.

http://kotaku.com/5140748/capcom-sta...ead-rising-wii

Basically he says that yeah the graphics won't be as good. Yeah there won't be as many zombies on screen. But basically they don't think that should preclude porting it to the wii. And yeah they ported it to make money. Guess what they are a business. It's what they do.

I don't see how porting games to the Wii is such a bad thing. A bad game is a bad game a good game is a good game, it doesn't matter if it's a port or not. I would like to see more wide releases make it to the Wii as well as the 360 and PS3. If it's dumbed down technically so be it. At least the umpteen households that own just a Wii will have a wider selection of games.

All that being said I am REALLY happy I got a 360 for Christmas so I can play all those games they don't release on the Wii.

The big selling point for me is that they are using the Resident Evil 4 Wii engine. I loved that port and I'm hoping the engine will add a different dimension to the gameplay.

Really? Do you mean the controls will more or less be the same as RE4? If true then that's awesome because I LOOOOVED the RE4 scheme. This game went from "Dead Rising on the Wii? Whatever, I still haven't finished the 360 version" to "I might have get this for my Wii at full price!" RE4 is the only Wii game I haven't sold.

Yep, with slight motifications to fit the Dead Rising setting of course...

From Capcom Europe:
http://www.capcom-europe.com/news/de..._Drop/401.aspx

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop includes the following features:

· Utilises the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii edition.
· New level of interaction – aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii Remote functionality

etc., etc.

RE4 Wii is by far my favorite Wii title, so this one is a no brainer for me, especially at $39.99, which is the price point I've been seeing it listed at.

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

Well considering it's only the first quarter that (most) those of games are getting released, it's a good sign. It's also better than the ratio of last year, so relatively it's a lot.

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

At least as a port it can't be a big disappointment since we know what its gonna be lie. The biggest disappointment ever was Alone in the Dark. God I wanted to play that so bad but when it came out I bought it on Wii... it sucked, then I tried it on 360... it sucked. It's susposed to be a lot better on PS3 but I ain't taking my chances.

Re: Wii Is Looking Pretty Violent This Years

Its a good time to start getting serious with... I guess serious games. Casual gamers tend to pull back their spending on casual games when the economy turns but serious gamers will buy serious games even in economic stress. Seriously.

I can't imagine them not bringing over a Wii-fied version at some point.
