Re: MLB '09: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 3rd

Ugh. I was on 3rd (double plus wild pitch) with no outs playing RTTS and I'm being given a signal but I can't tell if it matches anything. It didn't look like the coach touched anything three times in a row, and it says if no sign, "Swing Away". I thought, it can't be hit and run or a squeeze play because why the f would you do that with no one out and a guy on third? So the batter whiffs on a bunt THREE times, including with two strikes. I would have been hung out to dry every time. I then get dinged 10 points for not attempting the goal. If I wasn't having a good game I would have just reset and not saved.

I also have two more errors on my record than I remember committing. I have my settings where I should be fielding whenever I'm involved, but I'm thinking some of these errors happened in simulation. Sucks because one of my goals is a .993 fielding percentage and I'm now below that.

Seems like every time my team goes into the late innings with a lead, we end up losing. I'll have my last at bat in the 7th, up by 5, and we end up losing by 6. What a crock of shit. It happens over and over again, like my team has the worst closing pitchers in history.

Re: MLB '09: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 3rd

Is there some trick to tagging a guy out on a steal attempt if you're playing 2nd in RTTS? 9 times out of 10 the guy is safe even though 5 out of 10 times the ball is there in plenty of time. I must be missing something.

Also, I just got a Dualshock controller. There are times when I'm batting that the controller is intermittently vibrating before the pitch. Is this supposed to indicate the pitcher is tired or something?

That means you guessed the pitch location and or pitch type correctly. It also happens in pressure situations, giving you a sense of nervousness I suppose.

Is there a stat tracking error for innings pitched? In my franchise, I'm in spring training, and a bunch of my pitchers say 3 IP when they have only been in for 1 inning.

It must be the pressure thing, since I've had it happen more often than guessing the right pitch location and type. :)

Are you the Angels? If so, the game is being realistic.

Re: MLB '09: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 3rd

I had a really annoying glitch today.

My RTTS player was playing on the Angels, and stuck at 199 career homers. My next game was in Minnesota against my ex team. My first at bat, I hit a line drive homer to left for the milestone. I thought how appropriate to do that vs my ex team.

I had three more at bats, all singles, and we won the game 6-2. Right before the game cut to the recap where it shows how many training points you earned, the game quits. No freezing, no stutter. It just sends me back to the main dashboard.

At first, it was funny because I said to myself "looks like the Twins are holding a grudge." But then I restarted the game, played in the first two games of the series with no homers, and a few RBI, and was left out of the lineup for the final game. No big deal.

The next series was against Boston, and I come up late in the game with the bases loaded and no score. Next pitch was over the right field wall. A grand slam for my 200th career homer. I come up my next at bat, and I hit a solo shot for number 201. I was feeling great, the glitch was gone.

Wrong. Same error.

I am starting to think someone doesn't want me to hit 200 homers

What a bunch of crap.

EDIT: I did a search and there is a known bug that happens when someone hits their 200th career homer. The worst part of all, it was from LAST year, and the topic was MLB 08. Good job, Sony. Nice way to leave a bug in the game. What the hell am I supposed to do now? Talk about a game breaker.

LOL, so once you reach 200 homers your career is over whether you like it or not? That's a MAJOR glitch man, how is that shit still around over a year later on a different game. There's no excuse for that.

I don't know. That is ridiculous. I am going to try and sim a game, hopefully I'll homer. Then maybe it'll go away.

I am having a problem with this 1.07 patch update, a couple of days back my RTTS just simply froze and never loaded up to a game. Now it asks to download the patch, I did so and the game doesnt even start, I did an internet search on the official discussion forum and others trying to find a solution but nothing. There was another option of deleting the patch and starting the game from brand new, but then I get a data corrupted message, delete that and then it tries to load up 1.07 again and so on, can anyone help please?

Re: MLB '09: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 3rd

I love this game to death, but there are a few things that drive me batshit insane.
Checking my swing and getting called for a strike on the appeal every damn time when I clearly did not even go around.
I've previously mentioned how fucked up the baserunning controls are, but I also wish I had a dollar for every fly ball I missed but could have had if not for the controls flipping in the middle of the play. The ball is hit and I press up to run back but for a split second it actually makes you run FORWARD and then quickly changes to make you run back like you are supposed to so you lose several steps.
Another thing that needs to be fixed is for the announcer to actually get the names right for the guys batting.
And can someone please explain to me why my AAA team who finished the season winning the division at 85-59 does not have home field advantage playing a team that's record was 74-70?

It probably has something to do with the router. I had the same issue last year. Check the MLB 08 thread here. I think the solution is there.

i had the same glitch but all u do is tell ur manager "i have a glitch were it freezes at 200 homeruns" and then he will bench the glitch

I went ahead and sold mine on eBay last week. It just wasn't holding my interest anymore. And I was sick of being on the fucking Marlins. I became a free agent after batting .400 through a season and declining a multi-million (15+) deal offered by the Marlins, and no one offered me a contract. So the Marlins picked me back up for under a million. Oh well.

Wow, thanks for the advice. I told my manager that and he "benched the glitch" just like you said. I also complained about the uniforms and how the beer wasn't cold enough. He fixed it all.

You rock!

You can not be offered a contract or decline them all and go into Spring Training without a team. You then get to choose your team.

This just happened to me. Was it my 200th? No no - it was my teammate's 200th. WTF? Hopefully he gets it during a simulated game and I can move past that game. This sucks because I had broken out of my slump with 3 doubles and 5 RBI in the game.

Yeah, I had a killer game too when it glitched. I just simmed the game over and over until I homered. It took like 5 tries but it worked.

I believe he withdrew his name from the MLBPA deals, and was selling his rights on his own.

^Yep. I'm pretty sure Bonds hasn't been in a baseball game for a long time now. If a player isn't part of the MLBPA they don't include them in the game. The work around, is that the player is replaced with someone that looks completely different and has a different name but similar stats.
