Kinda video game related. Best Buy has DropMix on clearance for $29.99. I picked up a copy today. It looks easy enough to play with the family.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

DropMix is ridiculously fun. I'd been lusting after it just from the perspective of someone into music tech, but once I actually got my hands on it, my wife and I couldn't stop playing. The main mode is really straightforward but still very addictive.

We haven't gotten many of the extra cards yet -- one of the large packs and one of the small ones. Apparently Best Buy has the discover packs for $3.50 each, and I'm going to head out at some point tomorrow to see what I can find along those lines. I really want the Hall & Oates wild card.

I must be a boring grown-up because I have successfully resisted the urge even though I know for a fact a previous version of me would have jumped on that.

I'm like Galadriel and shit.

Store pickup options list it as available at several stores locally in "Open Box-Excellent" condition for 24.99

Destiny 2 is $5.99 for PS4 & XB1 using the My Best Buy rewards coupon. If you have GCU and do the $1 off for store pick up, it comes out to $4 after tax.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Not an amazing deal, but given how stingy Nintendo is with sales...

Anyway, Kirby Star Allies is $48.99 (or around $39 if you're Unlocked) at Best Buy.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Following up on the Dropmix stuff for anyone that has it, is it worth picking up any of the extra cards? It looks like there are $15 packs up on Amazon and then there are smaller $5 packs that have different cards as well?

Yes. The frustrating thing is that the Discover packs all have the same UPC. That'd make sense if the cards in each pack were random, but they're not. You can tell from the top card what else is in the pack.

It's the worst of both worlds. If there's a specific pack you're looking for, you can't order it from Amazon, Best Buy, etc. because you won't know which pack you're getting; just rolling the dice and hoping for the best. You might even wind up getting duplicate packs if you order more than one.

Also, there's no indication on the packaging for the Discover packs which songs/tracks are included. You'll have to match them against other online resources like the Google Doc on /r/dropmix.

You can work around that by buying sets of the entire series, but that's obviously overkill if you'd rather just cherrypick.

There's some really cool stuff in those packs, though. I'd buy more, but it's a hassle to find a good selection in a B&M, and I can't really shop online (well, eBay or something would work) since I won't actually know what I'm getting.

Main question for me would be, is Dropmix dead, though?

They showed off some of the new mechanics for season 2 at PAX, but they haven't revealed specific new cards or anything. There's some suspicion that the launch board is being clearanced now in anticipation of this coming season, and there'll be something different afterwards (new packaging, maybe different cards packed-in, etc.).

I don't think it'll amount to much. With as botched as Dropmix's launch was, it's hard to imagine any coming back from that. But I have every expectation that we'll see some cards, even if the whole thing dies shortly afterwards.

That's not a bad deal for anyone wanting to get in the game ...BUT.....

If you want to play the upcoming The Forsaken come September.....$39.00
If you want to go all out and get the bundle (Expansion and Pass)....$79.00

.....BUT.....

....you need both Curse of Osiris and Warmind to play that and each is $20.00

....Hook...Line...and Sinker....

...and the game is at $10 on Amazon right now if you don't have a GCU thru B.B...

...or just get Destiny 1 The Collection at $27.00 (Amazon) that has ....
Destiny
Expansion I: The Dark Below
Expansion II: House of Wolves
The Taken King
Rise of Iron
Level 40 Character Boost.....

It looks like Hasbro has complete sets of series 1 and 2 in eBay for $30. The only downside is that's how much I payed for the whole game, so I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a single set.

Bought a new DropMix as a bday gift for a friend, but Best Buy sent an open box instead, and now it is sold out.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

It might be worth checking at a local store. It won't show available online if they only have one or two copies left.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Apparently it’s clearance at Target for $48. Not bad if your Best Buy (like mine) is sold out.

Thanks! I forgot to keep checking daily. It looks like I missed Manual Samuel, but fortunately the later ones were still available.
