I watched some of the gameplay on Youtube, it does look repetitive, but not completely awful. I dunno, I'm a stubborn one I guess. It is an easy 1000 if nothing else.

Also, if you are a rewards zone gamer member (free membership one works as well), there is a $40 off coupon for Twisted Metal 3 and $25 off for MW3. Bringing each down to $19.99. Just log on to get the coupon.

If you're an Unlocked member, the MW3 coupon is $40 off.

Thanks for the heads up on the Best Buy sale. I picked up Metroid: Other M and Sin & Punishment: Star Successor for $4.99 each.

You might want to mention it's $5 to ship it. It took me about 5 minutes of filling out forms to get to the final confirmation page and see that.

I just saw that too. Last time they had the COD Elite cards for sale, shipping was free. Quite annoying.

I don't even have a Wii, but I grabbed Metroid: Other M. Is this a prequel to the Metroid Prime games? I ask because I haven't played a Metroid game since Super Metroid, so I am wondering if I need to play the Prime games first.

So after shipping it's only $5 off the regular price. No deal.

Use your target visa to get free ship.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

If I had a Target Visa I might just do that.

But charging $5 to ship a 0.3 oz item with $40 purchase is just insane.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Shipping on that deal sucked, but I still ordered 2. Came out to $86, or a 14% discount. Not the best, but these deals are getting few and far between.

It takes place after Super Metroid. The Prime games actually take place between Metroid and Metroid II. You should play the Prime trilogy because it's awesome though.

For those on the fence, The Price is Right is awesome for $5. The wife and I played though a couple games last night and they were entertaining as all hell. Giant Bomb has a pretty entertaining quick look that can be found on their youtube page too.

Oh, I will. It looks like I will have to pay over 100 bucks for a copy, but I plan to pick it up.

To be fair, the game is garbage. But entertaining garbage, and at least most of the sound effects are correct.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

As foxdvd mentioned in the Doom 3 BFG thread, there's an awesome coupon live now at New Egg. Use code EMCNBNG58 for $10 off any video game pre-order $39.99 or up, with free 3-day shipping. The coupon is re-usable over and over again. Since last night, I've pre-ordered :

Persona 4 Golden (Vita)
Assassin's Creed III Liberation (Vita)
Ragnarok Odyssey (Vita)
Luigi's Mansion 2 (3DS)
Super Paper Mario (3DS)
Little Big Planet Vita
Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (360)
Skylanders Giants Starter Pack (360)

(and I'd already ordered NSMB 2 with a previous promotion)
Thinking about ordering Animal Crossing 3DS as well, but that game ended up being too much like a second job on the DS after a while, and think I might be done with the series.

I would recommend not playing Other M at all. I LOVE Metroid and all the Primes, but I couldn't play this bastardization of the series for more than a couple hours.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Thanks for the heads up on the New Egg code. I put in pre-orders for:

Lego Lord of the Rings (PS3)
Hitman: Absolution (PS3)
Skylanders: Giants Starter Kit (PS3)
Assassins Creed 3:Liberation (Vita)
New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS)
Paper Mario (3DS) Release date is still unknown though.

I have a few other titles that I'm considering ordering. However, I was still not persuaded by the ten dollar savings to bypass my Prime and get Borderlands 2 for ten dollars cheaper but have to wait a few days to play it. I just couldn't do it.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I hadn't thought of Lego LOTR. There's one of my daughter's Xmas gift right there.

Re: Borderlands 2 : There's also the Gamers Unlocked deal at Best buy getting $20 back, but paying $60 + tax. So many choices. I think I'll be sticking with Amazon as well, but not certain yet...

Nice thing about this New Egg deal is that all these individual orders are cancel-able (until they ship, then it's yours to keep, no returns). I have some time to cogitate on some of this -- like I ordered both Halo 4 and Halo 4 CE; I'll pick one later. Also ordered GTA V, I mean what the hell, I'm going to buy it when it comes out, so why not save $5.

BTW : I usually get the pre-orders on the Tuesday of release or the next day.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Shit, I didn't realize you could use the coupon more than once. I only put one order in, Forza Horizon Limited Edition for $69.99. Oh well.
