I've never played RE4 on any platform.

Damn... I left work and Uncharted and Metroid were neck and neck. LBP came on strong in my absence.

Yep. Still has that new game smell. It was my personal pick, but I'll go with whatever.

mdc3000 12-23-08 05:45 PM

I would play PRINCE OF PERSIA. I'm working on that now and it's beautiful to look at but like Assassin's Creed, it's repetitive as hell. I don't see a lot of replay value in this title, so I'm blasting through it to get my copy on ebay ASAP while it's still going for decent coin.

PopcornTreeCt 12-23-08 06:35 PM

Assassin's Creed is my favorite.

kms_md 12-23-08 07:24 PM

i voted for RE4, mainly because that is what i will be playing next ;).

Raul3 12-24-08 12:20 AM

From that list I've onlye played Assassin's Creed, Little Big Planet and Uncharted. The three of them are really good games. AC and Uncharted are in my Top 5 list of 2007. LBP was one of the best, maybe the best, games released for the PS3 this year.

But based on what you've played lately my recommendation is Uncharted, my favorite PS3 game so far.

Chris_D 12-24-08 02:22 AM

I went for Uncharted just because it's meant to be one of the absolute premier titles on the PS3 and I think it would be worth just playing a few hours to see if it grips you.

Michael Corvin 12-24-08 07:06 AM

I'm kinda surprised at the results. Not LBP, I figured that would be towards the top, but the outpouring of love for Metroid. I'm also surprised at the lack of support for Kingdom Hearts.

Looks like I should have gone with a couple other games than MM9 & Conker. I had plenty of others to choose like Force Unleashed & Mercenaries 2 but didn't want to go too 360 heavy in the poll.

Anyway, I finished up Half-Life 2 last night, so whenever I get a chance to finish up Gears on insane I'll take whatever's top dog at that point. Speaking of, my co-op partner for that has been MIA lately. Anyone else want to run through Act 5 with me? I need to be Dom, so that person needs to have Insane already unlocked on their game.

PixyJunket 12-24-08 08:00 AM

I thought Little Big Planet was vomit, personally.

It's an awesome development/community tool, but a poor game.

shumway 12-24-08 08:06 AM

Went w/ RE:4 Wii though there are many great games from which to choose.

RichC2 12-24-08 08:06 AM

LittleBigPlanet is fun but shortlived. As a game it fails because it's ridiculously short, as a building tool it all seems so trivial.

I'd go with Resident Evil 4 then Kingdom Hearts. Or if you're looking for one you can bang out quickly, Uncharted (imo, it's the great PS3 exclusive, even though the shooting game aspect is overdone.)

superfro 12-24-08 09:36 AM

I'm voting for Prince of Persia. Coming out of Half Life and once you get done with Insane on Gears, I would see it as a nice palate cleanser. The game will probably only take you 12-14 hours (MAX), or even less depending on how completist you want to be about it. It's pretty easy going, great to look at, and a fun ride.

As a note...I love Conker's Bad Fur Day, but I'm extremely worried on how that game holds up after this much time has passed. It's quite reference heavy and I'm wondering if would still be "funny".

I think everyone's gut response is to vote for their favorite or the one that I should have played by now, but I like the way you think.

Raul3 12-24-08 08:31 PM

I actually thought the same when I chose Uncharted. I haven't played PoP. Shooting kinda sucks in Uncharted but it's not a shooter game, it's a really great adventure game. And it supports trophies now, so that would be a really good way to get into that for the PS3.

lordwow 12-25-08 09:16 AM

I chose RE4 for the Wii, I think it's the best game on your list, and one you should put at the top of your list this (next) year.

msdmoney 12-27-08 02:45 PM

I broke the tie and voted for Resident Evil 4. It still is a must play and you'll be timing it well, right before the release of RE5.

I would play Uncharted next, as much as I loved the first 2 hours of the game, the game focused too much on shooting rather than exploration IMO.

One thing I would recommend is putting time between Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft used very similar design philosophies for both, and although both have great mechanics, they would get very repetitive right in a row.

Jamieson22 12-27-08 11:29 PM

I voted for Uncharted.

It is fun and very story driven, and you should be able to beat it in a few nights. You'll want to beat it in a few nights since it really does pull you in.

It is my fav PS3 game so far (not tough since only other I have played is Resistance Fall of Man)!

musick 12-28-08 12:22 AM

Uncharted FTW

Rival11 12-28-08 12:26 AM

Man, I would love if Conker's Bad Fur Day came out on the 360.

DarthVong 12-28-08 12:29 AM

RE4. Awesome game and one of the best in the series.

slop101 12-28-08 08:56 PM

I've played all those games pretty much to completion (except for MM9, which is so hard, it's not even fun), and while Uncharted wasn't necessarily the best out of all of those, it was the one game I couldn't put down or play another game until I finished it.

Without giving anything away, it got a little lame near the end, but the rest of it is great enough, and moves at a near-perfect clip that you won't be able to stop until you're done.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

I started this evening and I'm enjoying it. I'm playing on Hard and it still seems rather easy. I think I've only had to re-do one section thus far. I'm just shy of 2 hours and already 25% done. This really is a short game.

It's hard not to compare this to Tomb Raider but I have to do it. Before Half-Life 2, I went through Tomb Raider: Underworld so TR is pretty fresh in my mind. I think TR:U is an all around better game but Uncharted definitely has the edge in combat and even the story/cut-scenes, but it can't compare in the adventure arena. Even the jungle areas are tiny by comparison. At 25% in I think there has only been one puzzle which is and was very weak. Drake is very slow, almost sluggish compared to Lara, but he has a solid camera system behind him and the ability to not miss ledges at random. It's damn near impossible to miss a jump, which is great change of pace compared to Lara.

I am enjoying the story more than TR:U, but there are way to many cut-scenes. They are short, but they totally break up the rhythm of the action.

Oh well, that's it for now.

Decker 01-02-09 01:12 AM

There are more cut scenes early on than at any point later until the very end. I didn't mind them, because the voice acting is very good, as is the character animations. All three characters have personality and rapport. It is a short game with little replayablitiy (maybe more now that they have a trophy patch that I missed out on), but still well worth playing.

Remember that motion control log-crossing exercise? Hope you enjoyed it, because you'll never use motion control again (well, except for throwing grenades, I guess).

Michael Corvin 01-02-09 07:20 AM

Grenades with Sixaxis? I just switch to them and use my buttons. The animation is good, but Heavenly Sword(came out around the same time) was better. I'm also not a fan of Sully for some reason. He just rubs me the wrong way. My guess is that he's in on it and not working with Nathan at all.

I quit at about 31% last night, so 1/3 of the way done. It is fun, and I'm digging the gun play, I just wish there were more puzzles. They set up this TR clone complete with the same ledges, ropes, QTEs and everything and don't do anything with it except to get from point A to B.

There are a ton of trophies which look like would require 2-3 play throughs to get them all . Mostly for gun specific actions. Right now I'm just sticking to the pistol and headshots.

Oh, what's with the R2 animation around the stick man/skulls scattered throughout? Am I supposed to be doing something with them or is it something for later in the game?

Weird. I haven't played Underworld (hated the demo), but I've played the previous two TR games on the 360, and I felt Uncharted (even though it does lean more towards gunplay - it's sorta like Gears of War in that regard) blew TR away in every single conceivable way - from fluidity of controlling Drake to the more interesting looking settings, Uncharted felt like an uber-polished 5-star game to TR's average 3-star game.

I think you went in expecting this game to be something it's not (you were expecting maybe more adventure/exploration and less action/shooting) and ended up more disappointed than if you went in with the proper expectations.

Speaking of which, (not really a spoiler, just a heads up) get ready for the last 25% or so of the game that is pretty much all gunplay.
