If you did get an Arcade unit, you can register for a memory upgrade at this address.

Dunno what his parents did, but here are some quick "cheap" prices for the titles:

For Orange Box:

Blockbuster.com has a sale going right now:

http://www.blockbuster.com/games/cat...meDetails/5396

Use coupon code HOLIDAYSURPRISE to save 30%, comes out to about $12 with free shipping. They also have Stranglehold for cheap.

GTA IV can routinely be had for $30, not sure about a great deal on BioShock (which was $19.99 last week at CircuitCity but is now up to $29.99, $24.99 on Amazon.com).

GameFly has a few deals going on as well on used games (their used games are in pristine, better than new (at Gamestop ) condition), Ninja Gaiden II for $14.99 and Devil May Cry 4 for $12.99 for instance.

Black Friday mainly. Bioshock is only $20 regularly now that it's a plat hit. TOB can be had for $10 if you get a good sale. GTA IV was the most expensive of the bunch, but I believe it's dipped down to $25 on Amazon lately.

Have to back up lordzepellin on getting Xbox Live. I used to not care about playing games online until I got my PS3 and now I love online games. Yes there are jerks out there but if you hook up with a good group of gamers it is a blast.

Jasper is the new chip/mobo for the 360, you def want that one to help avoid RROD's. You can check by the power fitting on the back. it will say 12v -----> then a number... if it's I think 12.1 it's one of the new jasper ones.

Crackdown, was such a fun game, I really hope there is a sequel. Some of the jumps made my stomach drop! You'll def have fun with that one, great choice!

Dead Rising was another fav of mine, and you should be able to find super cheap. Same with Condemned. Hell, if this if your intro into Xbox360 grab COD2 and COD4 (eBay will be your friend).

Grab a hard drive, maybe splurge for the 120GB if you think you'll be playing quite a bit. If not just get the cheap deal on the 20GB refurb from MS.

Kind of a related question since I also just got a 360. Do I need to get a headset for XBL? I.e., is talking required or recommended?

I assume you got the Arcade as well? The headset is NOT required. If you play team or squad based games where cooperation is involved a headset is recommended.

Also with the new party mode, you can be playing one game and still chat with 2-8 other friends who may all be playing different games.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, I have the arcade. I just bought the 13 months XBL card and 7 games within one week. I have absolutely no idea how to find time to play those games. Should have saved some money for a good headset and a Dolby Headphone processor.

Yeah, I'm stuck at work today... just browsing the net.

Did you get a great deal on the Live card? Already open it? You might have been better served by getting the Live Starter Pack. It's only 3 months, but if you've never been on Live and don't know how much gaming you'll be doing, it might be worth it for the headset & hard drive.

I have already bought a harddrive and the Live card. Is there any cheapo 360 headset on Amazon.com that you recommend?

I have the stock 360 one which is decent, but I mainly use the MS wireless one. I wouldn't recommend the wireless though if you are only doing a little online gaming because of the price.

Best Buy has Tom Clancy's End War packaged with the wireless headset for $49.99 right now. Pretty sure the headset would be the official one, no?

Indeed. So that is a hell of a deal if you are wanting either product.

Or if you want to eBay either of the two products you don't want I grabbed it for PS3 for same price. I am a sucker for a deal...

One quick question. Does the headset bring over only the voice chat or does it produce the game sound too? I.e., if I put my TV on mute when using the headset and still hear the game sound?
