It's on sale for 99 cents along with many other 99 cent Namco games including Time Crisis Strike (down from $4.99), Pac Man Remix, Dig Dug Remix and Ridge Racer Accelerated.

I bought Pac Man CE and thought the virtual joystick was bloody awful. It turns out there are several other control setups including a thumb pad one that's pretty serviceable. Bought the Time Crisis game as well which is not great, but certainly worth a buck.

Anyone have any issues with The Creeps losing game saves? I've had it so when I fired it up it show all levels except the first one locked (after I beat like 15)..

I've also had it where it will show random ones locked and some unlocked.. I decided to sign up for an online profile to hopefully fix this issue but it just happened again.. :S

Reminder : Today there's a press conference to discuss the upcoming 4.0 OS upgrade. Wonder what it'll include and how much it'll cost me for my ipod touch.

I am waiting to see what new iPhone model is coming out later this year. My 2 year contract is up in November, so during the summer I'll be past the 18 month mark and can get the full upgrade price reduction. I missed out on the 3Gs model by about a year and didn't want to pay $499 to upgrade because I was not eligible for upgrade.

Same thing happened to me - got my 3G and the 3GS came out a few months later. But how does the price reduction work? How much of a reduction is it? My contract is up later this year. I looked around a few months ago, but didn't find anything about it.

If I would have been fully eligible for the upgrade to the 3Gs when it came out, I would have paid $199 to upgrade. But, since I was not, I would have had to pay full price $499.

I am hoping that the next iPhone will be an upgrade price of $99 or $199.

I believe if you are fully eligible you get either the same price as a new customer or very close to it.

The current upgrade to 3.1 is only 4.95. Not a whole lot really.

I saw that. But it started out at $9.99, which is a lot for a system upgrade in my book. I'm wondering if mine should be free since it's still in 90 day warranty time. We'll see I guess.

Yeah, who am I kidding? I'd pay $10 for those features in a freakin' heatbeat. I just hope it's only $5.

If you have an iPhone 3G or iTouch 2nd Gen, you won't be able to use some features of 4.0, like multitasking.
You need a 3Gs or iTouch 3rd gen to fully use 4.0

I'm covered there. They didn't announce a new iphone or itouch at the conference, did they? I thought people were expecting that as well.

They didn't, but everyone is expecting it.

First iPhone came out June 2007. iPhone 3G came out in July 2008. iPhone 3Gs came out June 2009. So, pattern would seem to say that iPhone will have a new model out June/July this year.

Which is perfect for me, since I am eligible for full upgrade at the end of this month. My 2 years is up as of November this year. You can upgrade at 18 months into contract.

Once this update comes out, we should start a Friends List thread like the Live one. I really hate the current Open Feint and plus+ systems, but a unified one might be fun.

I followed that post/blog above, and they mentioned a couple of times about a third generation 3GS/Ipod touch for the summer... was that not stated in the conference itself, but just speculative?

Game Center
Coming "later this year," so perhaps not at the same time as the general OS 4.0 release, is Game Center. It will bring features like a social gaming network, the ability to invite friends to games, leaderboards, achievements, and the opportunity for "matchmaking" (setting up two people to play). We didn't get an extensive demo of Game Center so Apple may still be tinkering with it.

Square Enix is having a sale on their iphone games, similar to what they had earlier this year when FF1 and 2 first came out.

I'm really tempted by their new game, Chaos Rings, which looks great and has gotten some good reviews. I know we're all spoiled by the price of games, and this one is on "sale" for 12.99, but I think I'm going to bite anyway. Anyone get it yet?

I'm tempted. It's pricey for an iphone game (BTW, it's not on "sale", $13 is the regular price), but it would be cheap for a PSP game and seems to be of at least that quality. It's just a mental hurdle I need to overcome. I think I'm at the point that I'd enjoy one deep, quality RPG more than 13 Bejeweled clones anyway. Let me know what you think of it.

Oh, and there's another EA Games sale. I picked up Yahtzee Adventures for 99 cents and I really like it. It's the sort of game that's great for a five-minute diversion. Bought Monopoly ($2.99) but haven't played it yet. Also got Spore Creatures for $1.99. Not too deep, but I'll get $2 worth of fun out of it, so I'm satisfied.

Free game now available called Theseus is a strategic puzzle game that's actually pretty fun and cool despite super-simple graphics. It's different and I like that.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I decided to make myself overcome the hurdle because I'm sick of paying $35+ for bigger handheld experiences. Also, Reggie kind of made me do it:

Fils-Aime believes that gamers will stick with Nintendo's portables over Apple's because in the end the gaming experiences are very different.

"If our games represent a range between snacks of entertainment and full meals depending on the type of game, (Apple's) aren't even a mouthful, in terms of the gaming experience you get."
Suck it Reggie :p.

Nice. Another difference between Apple and Big N : With Apple, if you break and replace or upgrade your gaming device, you don't suddenly have to re-buy all your previously purchansed downloadable games. What a bizzare concept! I'm NEVER buying a DSiWare game ever again, even if the Super Mario World games came out on that system.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

That really surprised me as well... People complain about buying apps on the iphone/touch, and the DRM on the 360 isn't really that consumer friendly, but at least you can change consoles or redownload on a new device. When my Wii broke and I got a replacement through the Nintendo warranty repair process, it's so locked down i can't even change my avatar/mii because it wasn't created on that console.
That said, there's no way I could ever make myself pay thirteen bucks for an iphone game.

Obligatory iphone app mention - If you like Scrabble, go and download Words with Friends. Free version - ad after your move - or paid with no ads. up to twenty games at a time. Turn based PBEM gameplay, and hotseat.

Or you could grab Doc's time machine and go back two weeks and just buy Scrabble for $3.
