I have been playing Wolfenstein 3D Classic and enjoying it. The controls were a bit awkward at the beginning but then I got used to them.

Mok 05-18-09 09:35 AM

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I think Wolfenstein has some of the best controls out there, I agree they were awkward at first, but I can't wait till Doom comes out.

Another great deal Siberian Strike is now only .99 cents was $4.99, I guess this is a response to ifighter at .99 cents. Looks pretty good.

Do you have both games Mok? If you do, which one will you choose between Siberian Strike and iFighter?

Reading both of their reviews, both games seems to have their issues.

I do own both. I must say Siberian Strike has great sound effects, good voice acting, and amazing graphics. iFighter is more like 1942 it also looks good, but I think Siberian Strike is more polished. I don't think either game is very long some people claim to have beaten them in about an hour. I did like Siberian Strikes touch screen control better than using the tilt control. On the other hand iFighter has better tilt control and wonky touch controls. I guess it comes down to do you want to fight the Germans (iFighter) or the Russians (SS). All kidding aside I just picked up Siberian Strike today and think it's a steal at .99 cents. I bought iFighter a week ago and played it a couple of times, and never could get past the 1st level on easy. So I would say go with Siberian Strike.

I bought this for 99 cents and I'm really enjoying it. I also picked up Trixel while it was a buck and Ignite. All are really good.

I finally beat Treasures of Montezuma on Normal and have started back through on Hard. Probably the best buck I have spent on an iPhone game.

Wow, I'm happy that you guys really loved Montezuma, but that thing is crashing like crazy on my iPod Touch. I think I've tried to play it on four occasions (including after a reboot) and it's crashed each time within a few minutes. You guys had no crash problems?

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Really? I've had no problems. I'm on level 3-6 or something. I generally play maybe one full board at a time. (on an iphone, not sure if that makes a difference).

Smallball Pinball is pretty good, and the Grand Canyon table is/was free.

I think the only games I regularly play are Montezuma, Drop 7 Lite, Zen Jar, and pinball.

Michael Corvin 05-20-09 11:30 PM

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Montezuma is full of bugs. Having played it as much as I have, I couldn't tell you how many times it's crashed. I'd say 90% of those crashes are at start-up though so it's not terribly annoying.

I've also gotten to playing pretty fast(20+ combos) and noticed that lines don't always clear. I've also had the board reset on me because there are no moves left, yet I can clearly see 1-2 moves that can be made. Nothing game breaking though.

I'll try to get back into it, especially with it getting so much love here!

Has any of you played the Silent Hill and Resident Evil games? How are they?

Chris_D 05-23-09 07:25 AM

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I can only say that I've heard (mainly from John Davidson from What They Play / Listen Up) that Silent Hill is an absolute turd, while Resident Evil is not bad.

Btw, I made a couple of 99c purchases.

Hysteria Project - a kind of interactive choose your own adventure video, down from $2.50
7 Days Apocalypse - a "twin stick" zombie shooter (I think!?), down from $2 (I think)

Haven't had a chance to check them out yet, hope they're worth my $2 total!

Thanks. At that price, it doesn't hurt to try it out.

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

I have been playing Underworlds and have to say that I have been enjoying it even though it has it issues.

I like the fact that it's a good hack/slash with good customization however, it still feels like a poor man's version of Baldur's Gate or Diablo. Also the controls are not too great and it's hard to see while exploring in the dungeons.

I think that it needs a map of the game's area similar to what Castlevania offers, because I have been having trouble finding the doors or gates.

Mok 05-23-09 08:57 PM

Re: iPhone/iPod Touch App Talk

Underworlds update v1.11 is coming soon it tweaks the controls a bit more and of course fixes all the spelling issues.

I really wish they would add a map or log, I sometimes put the game down and forget the last thing I was doing when I play again.

I think I had one or two crashes on start up out of the many times I played it. However, I frequently restart my Touch when I'm going to play games for awhile and that usually takes care of most of my crashing issues.

Hmm, it looks good, although I hate any game that tries to use a virtual d-pad. So I wonder if they have much in the way of touch screen controls? Also, I need some kind of decent story so I'll be waiting to hear about that.
