A big part of it is that it was originally supposed to enter beta in April 07 and launch (completed version) in fall 07:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/gdc07/gdc07...ome-242332.php

Delayed for over a year and it barely has anything for users to do...kind of disappointing in that context.

Awesome! That's one i need to start using. I will have to look into the etymology of the phrase though. It is tough being a word nerd.

The funny thing as an older gamer is that my opinion of their channel roughly mirrors their antics regarding Home. With immature jerkoffs like them, it's little wonder that gamers are still seen as being the same way.

Just a small update. The 1.04 update not only removed voice chat it also removed all items won in the game. All the stuff I won playing Echochrome, Ice Breaker and Namco arcade is gone. I checked the forum and this is a known bug they are working on. They say the stuff is not gone for good and will be restored when they update again. However, any items won during the 1.04 update may be lost for good when they fix the problem.

BTW, I liked the trailer for Resident Evil Degeneration. Worth a rental at least.

Like whores like that aren't a dime a dozen on guys TV shows and the internet. No idea why people will sit through a crap show for a hot chick or why they will grind on a female avatar (that is more than likely really a dude) for that matter.

I'm not sure what antics you're referring to... they seem to think Home is as stupid and useless as the rest of us here feel it is.

I finally booted up the PS3 last night to check this Home thing out and couldn't find it. Where is this thing hidden at?

lol, that video was funny and basically confirms what I thought Home would be 2 years ago when they started talking about it. I'll stick with private chatting friends while doing whatever I want, not sitting on a sofa. Home was never a good idea.

I've decided I like Home. It helps to think of it as a 3D IRC front-end, and nothing more.

People are already bitching about some Home users cursing. We can't ask people not to curse but at the same time wish they could send porn.

porn?
With IRC you can get full albums before they are released even in the newsgroups or torrent. Same with movies...
And of course you can have really mature conversations in some channels.

From ps3fanboy:

PlayStation Home has been patched (yet again!), this time restoring voice chat. Update 1.05, available now, adds voice chat to personal spaces and clubhouses. This means you foul-mouthed pirates can chat with each other in the privacy of your own virtual-homes. However, expect public spaces to be as quiet as Sunday mass.

That's my problem with it. HOME is basically Grand Theft Auto without the Guns, Cars, Drugs, Boats and Hookers.

Where's the fun in that?
