No, I didn't think so. Don't get me wrong, the game wasn't bad at all.

By memorable, I meant the sniping in Chernobyl in COD4. Going through the buildings, it had an eerie realism.

This game was kind of like a 007 movie, with snowmobile chases and such. I guess the airport could be memorable, but only due to the controversy and not due to actual game play.

I currently have MW2 for the PS3, but since I just got a new PC I've been wondering if I'd like the PC version better. Would I? anyone know if there's any differences? is it easier to play on the PC? or just better in any way? or should I just stick to the PS3? I was just thinking if I could trade it in at gamestop now while it's still new I'd get more for it, then just get the PC version. I'm like level 20 or so, wouldn't be a huge deal for me to start over...

I think I heard somewhere that PC users are pissed about MW2, as it's basically a lousy port of the console game.

ah.. then if that's the case I'll stick to PS3 :)

I'd rather lose and try my best against a better team, playing with teammates that communicate, than win because everyone is a screeching greenhorn dullard that doesn't know their ass from a FAL.

How hard is the hardest difficulty compared to MW1? I have yet to open my copy of MW2. I'm still debating what game I want to open/play next.

I can't put it down... seriously. If you have any other games to play, get them out of the way first because this game will consume all your time.

Veteran mode on MW1 is much harder than MW2, IMO.

I've actually found that you can just listen to that and get a pretty good idea when someone is close. It chirps at you with a different tone when it sees a "red" guy.

hmm I guess I'll play through the campgin on MW2 first and see how it goes on Veteran. I still haven't gotten that airplane achievement on MW1...

Ahhh ok thanks for the tip

as for the post above me:

I played through it on hardened and enjoyed it..some levels were challenging whiles others were not so bad. I am debating about playing veteran now

Strongly Seconded.

On Veteran I've had difficulty getting through the last "breach" segment and the timed "get to the sub" mission (until I found the correct route) and I'm currently stuck at the raft boat chase sequence towards the end of MW2. Damn chopper! But these problems are slight compared to the general gameplay of MW1. Veteran in MW2 has been toned down noticably.

Krayzie - definitely jump on Vet to begin.

Well I dumped Pave Low and added Chopper Gunner.

It get ridiculous how kills add up on that, it's fun in its own way too, but after I use it for a while I'm going back to Pave Low.

If I used Nuke I could have called it in several times this week. I just hate to use that slot, but I guess I'm gonna have to just to get the nuke a few times.

Could you still if you lost all the kills from one of your killstreak rewards?

Dr Mabuse 12-30-09 03:15 PM

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

It's hard to go 25-0 without killstreak rewards, very hard in fact. Time factor alone makes that difficult, you will run out of time trying to individually kill that many people.

Virtually all the guys calling in nukes are putting C130s and Chopper Gunners in the air, that's just de rigueur for a nuke. I'm sure someone may have pulled it off against a terrible team or something, but it's got to be extremely rare.

I've had quite a few perfect games, several where the other team had multiple rocket guys and my Harrier and Pave Low didn't get a single kill, but I did not make 25-0 in a game that way.

I didn't mean whether you could do it without any killstreaks or not. I just meant that if you turned on nuke, you would have lost one of the three that you do have enabled, and thus wouldn't have had kills from that particular killstreak.

OH!

Yeah, you have to turn off one. That's why I have never turned it on. I just unlocked Nuke this week as a killstreak reward, but hesitate to turn it on due to losing another killstreak reward.

I'll do it eventually just to call in a few nukes and get the titles and emblems. at that point I'll probably do Harrier, Chopper Gunner, Nuke.

My 'big three' has been Predator, Harrier, Pave Low. I hate doing without them, even though calling in Chopper Gunner/AC130 is cool. I prefer the other three.

I have a Stinger in my usual loadout and typically knock down Choppers/Harriers the moment they arrive. Managed to drop a few AC130s last week too. I love it when that air support shows up :)

Okay gang, I need your input. I've tried skimming through this monster thread to see if there was any mention of this, but I'm not having much luck. DH got COD:MW2 for Christmas. Barely got into the game when the disc failed - repeatedly. Finally decided to take it back and get a fresh copy. The clerk at the store told him the game has a known high failure rate. Sure enough, he was able to get a little bit further in the game with the second disc before it, too, failed repeatedly. He's headed out to exchange it yet again, but I'm wondering if any of you have had similar experiences and/or know of any particular blogs/message boards that deal with this issue and what was done about it (short of returning/exchanging discs ad nauseum/ad infinitum). All other games DH has are working perfectly fine, so we know it's not the console. Any assistance/advice/input would be MOST appreciated!!

bws, there's been NO mention if it here, that I can remember. I've also not seen it mentioned anywhere else.

If he has a 360, I would recommend he install it to the hard drive.

Thank you for your candor and for the suggestion! He went to exchange the second disc and wouldn't you know... it CRACKED as he took it out of the case so they could check it! So, he ended up having to buy yet another copy anyway.

The new copy, of course, failed twice within the first minute of play, but now seems to be working better. Thanks for your tip about installing it - I googled the info on how to do that, and he's installing it as I type this. He's a MUCH happier camper now! And, as usual, I am well-pleased because you all here at DVDTalk have never failed me!! Blessings for a great 2010!!
