Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I was in Gamestop last night taking advantage of their B2G1 deal, and the guy was pushing preorders for this pretty hard. My usual Gamestop is never this bad as far as preorders go, so I'd forgotten how fucking obnoxious those guys can be.

GS: "Hey, we've already got 230 preorders for this game, so you'll have to preorder it if you want it."
Me: "No thanks, I'll get it somewhere. I'm not too worried about it."
GS: "No you won't! It'll sell out everywhere. And have you heard about the Prestige edition?"
Me: "Yup."
GS: "Cool, huh? It's got working NVG! You can use them if you want to sneak outside for a smoke, pick up dog poop at night, that kind of stuff. I preordered mine!"
Me: "Yeah, no thanks."
GS: "Did I mention that you get a poster if you preorder?"

If I wanted a piece of shit pair of Call of Duty branded night vision goggles I'd have preordered when they were announced. I'm barely interested in the game as it is.

It's really hard to believe that any sane person would think that this game would even approach selling out - maybe at GS, since monkeys run their ordering department, but pretty much every other store will have billions of copies.

LIARS! if they had over 200 reserves at that store, they would have run out of the posters months ago like we did

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

$70 extra bucks for crappy night vision goggles that I'll use once? Yeah, no thanks.

But I think I'll get the hardened edition since I'm taking advantage of the 50% off trade in deal at Amazon, and I would end up buying COD over PSN anyway.

My thoughts exactly. The weasel behind the counter was surprisingly adamant, though. I'll give him points for persistence.

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I got real burnt out on CoD multiplayer a while back, and then Killzone2 put the last nails in that coffin just recently as I tried to play some CoD multi recently, and just couldn't get into and enjoy it like I did with KZ2. CoD just felt a lot more boring with long stretches between action, whereas KZ2's multi is all action. Maybe this new one will change that.

So the NVG didn't sway you but he thought a poster would?

Could not agree more, I didn't even get to level 65 on COD5 because I was so burnt out from 4. Hopefully there are enough changes in MW2 multi to draw me back in.

Re: Activision announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Oddly I found that I stuck with the MP in COD:WAW much longer than I did with COD4. Maybe I just like hearing Kiefer Sutherland cuss at me.

Anyways this will be one those rare day of release purchases for me.

I did get to level 65 and I got that "now what?" feeling. If there would have been a carrot at the end instead of starting over, I would have kept playing. I loved the MP game, but I love getting rewarded the more I play too.

You mean a new little rank badge wasn't enough for you?

Kind of pisses me off. COD:MW2 won't be running at 720p. Like 600p, similar to the last game: http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/games...-$1314777.html

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Part II

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With my 10% ECA discount, the $58 in trade-in credit I got through Amazon for a bunch of Wii games, and the 50% discount on games and accessories from a few weeks ago, I picked up the Prestige Edition for a cool $16...not too shabby!

I've never bought a "fancy" edition of any game, but the goggles are too cool to pass up. Plus I don't need Beatles Rock Band and I wanted to maximize my discounts.
