Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Surely I'm not the only person who bought this game. Or am I?
I honestly don't know what to think about this. Every time I fire it up, I think it sucks. And then I find myself still playing it one, two, even three hours later. It's like meth. The whole time I'm playing it, I think "I should really be doing something else with my time" but then I want to explore one more area or build one more vehicle or play one more jiggie game ... Anyone else playing? |
I pre-ordered it/bought it because of the free Banjo-Kazooie download code that came with it, but I haven't opened it yet. I didn't think the demo was that great but people seem to like it. I'll eventually play it. I'm a big fan of the original game, but I hate this new vehicle mechanic/concept.
|
This has went on my list as a game to pick up when the big new releases dry up (like in early spring). The demo was just alright but a few folks in my clan swear by the game and say the vehicle creation combined with the challenges is extremely good and very creative.

I love this game. :D

yeah i picked up the game b/c of the free original banjo game. i beat the original and was intending on playing nuts and bolts, but i just picked up ghwt and sonic unleashed. so it's just going to sit there...in the plastic, until i have time for it.
|
It's Banjo-Kazooie not Banjo & Kazooie.
I tried and disliked the demo. I'll just wait for a real Banjo platformer. |

Is this the long-awaited Banjo-Threeie?

Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Playing BANJO franchise (KAZOOIE, TOOIE and N & B) for the first time, was hoping to finish and comment on Sunday... but :mad2: arised.
So controls are inverted (and can't be changed), ok got used to them and was having fun (on first world) earning puzzle pieces, collecting Music notes, searching for Jingos and exploring to find the hidden Honeycombs. So far so good... Then it gets challenging, deeper water (and later bullshit oiled water) means more deaths due to drowning due to crappy responding swimming. Other level obstacles, plus timed objectives, and cheap hits from enemies , especially those fucking accurate throwing Snowmen  Now Sunday. I'm at last world, sweet almost done! Ah no!!, stupid 4 seasons means climbing up the level 4 damn times, meaning many falls by cheap hits and miss timed jumps and inverted controls ... basically played that world all that day :( I'm ready for final battle with Grunty yesterday, nope have to do a damn quiz first, on remembering stuff from the game. It wasn't that bad after a couple of tries, took me no more than 5 +/- tries. (still yesterday) Time for Grunty and that's where :mad2: comes in, tried for many hours to beat that Witch and was unsuccessful. It was always at the last part/phase of battle and for some reason kept fucking up. almost gave up and thought of starting BANJO TOOIE tomorrow (Tuesday/today) and coming back later... First try today and I FINALLY BEAT THE WITCH! and of course was close to dying again. Clocked in like 25 hours, that's what I get for going for 100% :( Will start TOOIE tomorrow. |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Finally finished BANJO TOOIE, clocked in 32H 20m 54s... what a difference a sequel makes, other than being long and challenging, the problems of the first one were addressed.
+ better controls (swimming and flying is much better) + less/no more cheap deaths (no more drowning and less thrown off high places) + more save points/better saving + a lot of new moves + a lot of funny transformations and it only took me 2 tries to beat Grunty  Only missing one Puzzle Piece and one Cheato Letter, bullshit race against Canary Mary. fake Jingo's ... on to NUTS & BOLTS |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
When you're done check out Yooka-Laylee. It's a new game, Kickstarter created by some of the BK creators. I think it's pretty fun and a worthy successor.

Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Already clocked 30 Hours and at around 50% done :(
fucking vehicles  |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Finally after many days ignoring this game and 50 hours in, I'm done with this shit. I stopped trying for 100% and completed the main campaign yesterday. Maybe one day I'll go back and mop up the rest.
I've been frustrated and pissed at games before, but this game just put me in a shitty mood after a couple hours of play-time each day... I had to stay away from it. Now I can go on to YOOKA-LAYLEE |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Capital B is out of business!
YOOKA LAYLEE is what BANJO N&B should have been. This game is great. + Controls + Cool characters + Colorful graphics + Transformations + Expanding worlds A bit challenging at times, that I wasn't able to complete it 100% :(... just need 5 Pagies) - Kartos Karts (need world 4 ( bullshit one) & 5 to complete) Spoiler:
- Rextros Arcade (world 4 (bullshit! ) Highly recommended! hope for a sequel!! |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Told you! ;)
Glad you liked it. |
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Did U 100%?
|
Re: Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Gosh no. I haven't even finished it. I rarely finish anything. But I did enjoy what I had played of it. It's a worthy successor to Banjo and was a successful throwback without feeling too dated.
