Strange. PS3 has the opposite problem.

Songs download in the background, but you have to exit the game to "install" the songs when they finish downloading. So the only benefit of using the Rock Band store is that you can hear previews, and who buys a song they don't know based on a preview?

I'll buy a song I've never heard before if it sounds cool and has a good chart. It's a way to be exposed to new music.

If you say her name three times into the mirror in a dark bathroom, I hear a relative of a crocodile comes out of the toilet and eats your left hand.

The preview can be helpful if you aren't sure about the song. For example, I bet quite a few people downloaded "Space Cowboy" thinking it was "The Joker".

They wouldn't get so lost if they could figure out a way to just omit songs/song packs already purchased.

The answer to all of these problems is so simple...

SPREADSHEETS!! :) :)

No - that's not an answer.

Also - Shag. Time to start a new thread. This one is past it's prime.

I'll buy a good chart, but that's using more than the tools in the RB store. I assume some Youtube is involved, no?

Clarification on the 5,000 songs comment:

In an effort to clarify and put some context around that number, please see the original quote on ArsTechnica.com from an interview with Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, during this year’s CES.

In that article, Alex stated:

"That said, one of the great promises of the (Rock Band) catalog moving forward, as the catalog expands from 500 songs to 5,000 songs or whatever in the coming years, is that we're going to be less constrained from a genre standpoint, and I think you will see us starting to branch out into... whether it's country or R&B and jazz or funk, or things of that sort. With the critical mass of the "rock" core covered, of course we'll keep expanding it, but the critical mass is covered, so now we can start to branch off in ways that haven't made sense in the past but will make sense moving forward."

We hope this clears up any confusion.

Thanks.

Liam Lynch

Seems like a great fit for the game to me. Along with some more D songs.

 Nice, L&O. That's what popped into my head after Groucho's comment as well. I would love for that song to be in Rock Band. :D

Secoded. "Rock & Roll Whore" please. :)

Crescent fresh.

Speaking of which...let's get his latest video in RB too, because it rocks balls off. (Even if he only did the video. ;) )

Is there a list of free songs offerened in RB and RB2? Or do you pretty much have to go through the list online and find them?

Yes the interface is lacking. It is on both platforms. A search would be nice. Hell it doesn't even have to be a search box. They could have a 'tab' by letter to navigate quicker. Point being, that is out of our hands. There's no reason Harmonix should hold back content, whether it's 9 tunes a week or 90, because of limitations of the platform OS.

For the time being, you preview the tracks online, you view the charts via YouTube, I don't see what's wrong with queuing them up while you are at it. Then you get home, flip on the 360 and BAMM! They automatically background download. Win-Win in my book. The online marketplace was genius. I haven't browsed the normal marketplace since.

Chuck: Wait, you have a Zune!?
Morgan: Pfft! No, I'll go get my iPod.

Not even 23 hours.

Besides the Nickelodeon songs that have leaked, has there been any indication of tomorrow's announcement yet? Any IGN slip-ups or the like?

Nope. We might actually be surprised tomorrow at 2 PM! One of the previously-announced albums would make sense, otherwise I hope we get a nice selection of singles including some from bands that are new to RB.
