Re: Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
idea is great, but the gameplay videos remind me of a crappy ps1 game, camera and controls look pretty bad judging by the video

Looks like the release date got pushed forward. GameStop has it as shipping today. Employees have guaranteed that it'll be in stores by tomorrow!
I might go move some pre-order money around and grab it, if I hear some good first-hand impressions.

Yeah I saw that we have it arriving today. I guess I'll have to finish paying it off and hope that it is fun. I should have hurried up and finished Halo Wars last night, now I'll have too many games to play

Point me towards reviews - it'll be weird is this ends up being not as good as the new 50-cent game which is similar in that it can be taken as a mockery of such games and is getting surprisingly good reviews.

I don't know about this game, it's an amazing premise and has some of the best marketing ever behind it but it seems like it is what it is making fun of, a generic action game.
I'll eagerly await the reviews for this game to see if it's any good.

Re: Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
I grabbed mine today at work...played the first 3 levels so far. The gameplay is very average, but it's kinda fun to play. It's not as funny as I had hoped, and progressing through the game consists of hiding behind a wall and head-shotting someone with a pistol. I've definitely played worse, but it's not bad for $50.

Well, back to the store with this game. The tentacle boss at the end of level 5 is un-beatable. I even retried the level on easy and can't survive for more than 20 seconds. It's a 1 hit kill Boss that slams tentacles into you, but you have no way of telling where the tentacle will come from. You must randomly sprint around, hoping to not get hit...really lame and a game breaking/ending design flaw. I now lower my initial review to...piece of crap game

Hmmm.... well... the humor is pretty decent in this, a lot of pop reference which is somewhat funny. The controls are a little sluggish and some levels are insanely retarded. I spent probably 20 minutes trying to pass the first sniper rifle segment with Bill the Wizard (who cracked me up) - only to find out there are 2 more segments of this.
The very first boss fight had me .

Really? When I played, it was the standard "boss hits here, then there, so stand where the latest strike was" approach. I passed the first section with ease, but I am hung up a little on the second part, as I keep missing the damn mines.
EDIT: Second time was the charm. I thought I died, but it was part of the game. I don't get all the dislike of the tentacle boss, I died once and that was it. The patterns are pretty clear, but the camera isn't the best. Still, they give you 40 points for beating it, a decent reward.

Re: Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
I love the premise and the humor of this game. However, the gameplay leaves something to be desired. I can't understand why they make games that dont have either a jump or dodge button anymore. The character himself even makes a comment something along the lines of "geez I wish I could jump or something" I would also not consider the movement to be very fluid to say the least.
Despite all it's flaws, most of the game is enjoyable though. The 2 main exceptions being the tentacle boss and the RPG style boss. Did they really have to add all of the enemies to fight alongside them? It seems to evade the bosses attacks sometimes you have to run, but if you fun then the enemies shoot and kill you. I almost gave up on the game during both of these
I'm glad I went with renting instead of purcashing

Re: Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
I just finished this, 820/1000 on a single runthrough. This took three sessions, around 6-7 hours total. Easy as cake. I will hunt down a couple more of the achievements, but I won't be playing again on the hardest difficulty level, given how cheap the AI is.
