Wow.
They were talking about how they didn't want to run it into the ground, like what happened with The Matrix. Yet, they went on to cite Star Wars as an example of not running the series into the ground, so I dunno what to make of it.

GameStop has it listed for 10/06/2009. Everywhere else just states Q4 2009 noting that Take 2's fiscal year ends on 10/31/2009 so sometime before that.

I guess it's a slow-moving zombies vs. fast-moving zombies kind of thing. I want my Big Daddies to be lumbering hulks, not nimble acrobats.

They only lumbered if they weren't engaged. If you fucked with them, they got awful quick.

Good thing those are big sisters and not Big Daddies then!

You know what I mean. I'll still get the game, but that image to me feels like something a marketing guy would have come up. "What's with these big guys in the suits? Can we streamline that in some way? Maybe make the suit form-fitting?"

We need some sex in the game to make it sell.

I like the look of the Big Sisters, and not in a sexual way*.

They are also adding "Big creepy-old Uncles" to the game. You don't want to know what his special ability is

I thought we were the creepy old uncles when we "cured" the little sisters. Hmm...

I think the cover image is a step backwards from the first game.

Wow that's a lot of criticism over just a GI cover. I think the image looks bad ass but that's just because I want to play the game so bad.

Cover of Game Informer. Spoilered just in case.

Spoiler:
Somebody has a hard on for horror in that issue. Space horror! Zombie horror! Underwater horror!

Re: Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams

Bioshock 2 details (url a little spoilery, so hover/click at your own risk)

Spoiler:
GameInformer subscribers have leaked the first details of highly anticipated sequel BioShock 2, including the revelation that co-op will be available, and that there will be NO Big Daddies at all. Strap yourself in for full details, and be aware that spoilers lie ahead.

BioShock 2 tells the story of a private investigator named Jack Abbott, whose daughter is kidnapped by the "Big Sister" character as shown on GameInformer's cover. Abbott pursues the creature by boat and confronts her, but is knocked unconscious and awakes in a certain famous underwater city, which is in even worse shape than it was before, thanks to seven years of ruination between this game and the last.

Things go from bad to worse when a Soviet submarine uncovers Rapture and gets introduced to ADAM -- the precious genetic resource of the first game -- and plan to use it against the Americans in the ensuing Cold War. Jack's forced to defend Rapture and safeguard ADAM from the nefarious Commies.

Hit the jump for more details.

Russian enemies are said to be far more intelligent than Splicers were, able to use cover and flank players rather than simply running headlong with wrenches in their hands.

There will be a selection of new environments that were unseen in the previous game, including a zoo with a collection of spliced up animals, including a mutated rhino and a giant squid that provides "an epic underwater boss fight." Other enemies include spliced dogs and bipedal robots which Jack will be able to hack for his own use.

As far as Plasmids go, we have two new ones confirmed. One slows down time for a few seconds, and another, far more intriguing one, is telepathy. Telepathy allows you to listen to the thoughts of NPCs, which can be useful for getting information like keypad combinations and the like.

Finally, the game will allow for co-op. That's all we know on multiplayer so far.

What do you think? Do these early details sound good to you? I'm a bit worried, despite my crossed fingers. The plot details sound like they could work, but I'll need to find out more before getting excited. Spliced dogs and rhinos also have potential to be incredibly silly as opposed to scary, so there's that. Co-op and the lack of Big Daddies are two pretty huge things that could dramatically alter the way this game goes.

In short, I don't know what to think. Somebody tell me.

Re: Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams

Not any spoilers but my thought above the spoilers:

Spoiler:

Not getting too excited about the spoilers. Commies? Really?
Is this Jack Abbott the same Jack from the first game? I hope so.
I kinda understand why no more Bid Daddies.

Yeah, I'm still getting the game in release date. Deluxe edition or whatever that includes a Big Sister figurine (the Big Daddy feels lonely).

That cover has killed any hope I had for this game. What a disaster.

I'm waiting until i get my GI in the mail to take any stock in those rumors. One Big Sister? I doubt that.

If it's not rated M or 26.5 hours long, I'm boycotting.

Especially since it's not even a picture from the game. It's an artist's conception. Who knows what the Big Sisters will even look like in the actual game.
