Nope. Two player only through the campaign.

Gears of War 2
(Xbox 360)
Arrives 11/7
Call 1-888-244-6594 to order

The only way to get this deal is to call in the order? Can you still pickup in the store or does it have to be shipped directly to you? Wonder how the recent store closings may effect this. The closest store to me closed today.

Yes, it seems you can only get it by calling, which I just did. They did not offer in-store pickup.

What REALLY irked me was when she said the game will arrive "7-10 days after the release date." I'm really hoping they're just covering themselves and it'll get here sooner, but who knows. Standard shipping was free.

Still, it's worth it for the 1600-point card. I can wait a little longer for a free $20 card.

Michael Corvin 11-04-08 11:00 AM

FWIW, here's the list of closings.

Looks like my CC of choice will remain open. I plan on just hitting them up on Friday. Now will this be a Friday am release or something they will hold until 2pm?

Groucho 11-04-08 11:04 AM

Wow, none of the Utah stores are closing. Whenever I go in there it's like a ghost town. The employees outnumber the customers 3:1 at least.

From Speedy's BB post for Nov 9, $30 GC with purchase. That's a better deal than the 1600 point card.

Michael Corvin 11-04-08 12:42 PM

So... wait until Sunday? I think I can handle that.

*edit - just checked the thread. Looks like you have to buy a 360 and Gears 2 to get the GC to me unless I'm reading it wrong.

The deal was in the CC Sunday ad, so I assume you can just stop in and buy it. That is what I plan to do (or maybe pricematch to Best Buy). Where do you live (I am in Chicago, and the North Ave store is closing).

Side note, do you know if you can return pre-orders from Best Buy? I bought 2 Rock Band and 1 GH:WT when I had $15 in reward Zone that was about to expire. Don't need them so can I return them for the $5?

Michael Corvin 11-04-08 01:52 PM

Yes you can return them. If you used reward zone GC's they will go back in your account. You won't get any cash back for them.

I am hoping to return them at same time I buy GOW2 (pricematch to CC if possible) to knock the $15 off. Can that happen or will I have to go print the certs again?

That sucks. Where's the deal for those of us with a 360 already? A free toy tank? Fail! I'll take the CC deal.

Buy it on eBay with the MS Live 25% rebate. Can probably get it for $45 net.

Michael Corvin 11-04-08 02:37 PM

That's still only $15 off. I guess it depends on how likely you are to use the 1600 points, or how soon you want the game.

Use the 1600 points for the first map pack released ;)

I already think we are getting a better deal that normal. Seems $10 off is the norm, so a $20 card ain't bad.

mattysemo247 11-04-08 03:47 PM

If you have one of their gamer cards, you also get another 10% off too

Just wrapped up the single player on this one. Final playtime was about 8.5 hours (normal difficulty). Overall I'm satisfied, but again...aside from vehicular combat there aren't really any new gameplay additions. And without spoiling anything there is no scene after the credits, just a metal gear solid type voice over.

7-11 near my house broke street date, and at least four of my buddies got it early  Microsoft is gifting me a free copy so I'm not so bummed!

mattysemo247 11-05-08 07:22 AM

So I went to Target last night to get the new Scene It game, and sitting right next to it in the case of GOW2 LE. So I told the girl I wanted to get both games. She went and rung them up and a screen popped up stating that GOW2 was not to be sold before the 7th. She called a manager back to see if they could sell it since they put it out already and he said no and pulled out the other two copies from the case :(. So no Gears until Friday.

Michael Corvin 11-05-08 07:48 AM

Meijer is having a midnight party with some unnamed giveaways.

How are they gifting you a copy? I just went round and round with their elevated complaints department about the reimbursment they were going to send me. All the crap and games they had to choose from I already owned. I asked them if I could get a copy of GOW2 and they straight said no.

Kicker_of_Elves 11-05-08 08:33 AM

Amazon shipped my copy today. I hope it gets here in a timely manner. :D

Spoiler:

starseed,
how did you get pass the sea monster in act 3?
I got inside the mouth, but what are you supposed to do once you are inside?

UncleGramps 11-05-08 10:43 AM

Not to be a dick, but if you guys are talking about techniques for beating bosses in Gears 2, can you use spoiler tags? The game's not even officially out yet.
