The worm stage without gore is a strangely edited. Its like watching a film in Comedy Central's Secret Stash time slot: you get unedited and unaltered language but the nudity is gone.

For the worm stage...

Spoiler:

Carmine's death is censored. You don't see his glowing skeleton rather just his body still covered in armor. Makes his dying comments seem off slightly. They also trimmed some of the blood from the moments when Marcus chainsaws through the multiple membranes.

However, the group still gets covered in blood. When you cut the arteries, blood flows just like in the uncensored game. After severing the final one, the cut scene is exactly the same as the uncensored version. The blood spills out with the guys covered head to toe in it.

And yes, its still blood red.

Damn I really want to play this, but I have tried the original Gears and can't even get through Act 1 on Casual. Wish I had the patience and skill for games like this.

FusionX 11-20-08 04:33 PM

This is much easier than the first one, no comparison.

Giantrobo 11-20-08 06:10 PM

Yeah this one does seem somewhat easier than GOW1 which is probably why I like it so much.

I'll definitely give it a rental then. I really liked Gears 1 and if this one is a bit easier it will be worth playing. I like that it has multiple difficulty for the people that like to play on insane, but I really hate when the easy difficulty isn't all that easy.

Centurion 11-21-08 02:38 PM

Horde mode is such a blast.
Although, I don't think it's anything new. I think the guys at Epic already did something very similar to this with their Unreal franchise. I could be mistaken though.
Oh, and Dom is the man. I love his occasional remark after getting a good headshot or sticks the arrow with the torque bow..."Sup b*tches!"

fumanstan 11-21-08 04:16 PM

I played Horde for the first time last night and while it was entertaining, I got kind of bored. I joined in at Wave 4 and got up to about Wave 25 or so before I quit. By then I was kind of tired since it was just the same thing over and over again. Yeah it gets more difficult and a little more varied, but I don't think it's something I could play 3 hours in a row at.

Michael Corvin 11-21-08 05:20 PM

Did you play the same map or change it up?

K&AJones 11-21-08 06:16 PM

The different maps still make it entertaining. I still wouldn't mind trying and playing the other modes. Submission was cool, King of the Hill is fine and have yet to play Annex online. Has anyone done the Wingman mode? I should be on later tonight.

Raul3 11-21-08 07:04 PM

I tried Wingman. Well, at least I tried to connect but couldn't find any party. :(

I've been able to play other modes without issues.

fumanstan 11-21-08 07:05 PM

Yeah we were on the same map. First time I played so I didn't really know how it worked other then waves of dudes coming at you. I'm sure changing maps would make it better.

Deftones 11-21-08 09:27 PM

bah. everytime i play horde mode and i get a good team, people drop out. was up to about 27 when a few of my team mates bailed. want to get to 50. :(

K&AJones 11-22-08 10:07 AM

After going thru about six teams (random including one all spanish speaking one) I ended up with one that we got to 37. We had the right plan and right teamwork until the last stage where they spawned almost right on top us from two sides. While most favor "Day One" and "Security" we played "Clock Tower" and it has more pluses than the other two. For one shields were everywhere, you have the high ground and only two ways in.

FSUNoles - did ya'll make it to 50? I last saw where you were at like 42.

Martin - Got your invite but I was in another match and was about to call it a night anyways (2:30am!)

My weapons don't seem to cause hardly any damage, whereas everyone else seem like they only need one shot to kill me. Plus there are mortars being fired, etc. Where do all of these superior weapons come from?

Bump :)

Anyone got advice for me?

edstein 11-22-08 11:05 AM

They really need to get that fucking matchmaking fixed. We had a room of four people and it would take 5 to 10 minutes to get a fifth person. And all the bugs from Gears 1 are still present in Gears 2 plus more. The single player was awesome but they (epic) really dropped the ball on the multi-player issues. I hope they patch some of this shit soon.

I was joining you guys but kept getting dropped. It does suck sitting there for ten minutes waiting and waiting and waiting....

Giantrobo 11-22-08 12:02 PM

Why does it take so long? Is it a server issue or just a broken method/system for matching?

IMO, both.

The Gears guys tried to get way too cute with the matchmaking setup as well. Forcing gamers to play match types they don't want to play is just idiotic.

Considering the outcry, I assume there will be a big overhaul patched soon.

Giantrobo 11-22-08 02:33 PM

Oh ok. I think this was brought up earlier in the thread but isn't this similar to Halo 3's system? I don't remember them changing that game's system all that much.

It is nothing like Halo's system.

If you want to play ranked team deathmatch (Warzone) in GOW 2, you can't. You could in GOW 1.

Annex? Nope.

Guardian? Nope.

Etc...

I can't imagine Halo (though I retired and stuck with COD) or COD or Rainbow Six or any other heavy hour Live user game forcing you to play gametypes you don't want to play.

Raul3 11-22-08 05:58 PM

Add me if you want to play horde. I just need to finish level 37 to 40 and I get the achievement. :D
But yeah I'd play any level.

Played quite a bit of Horde the past few days with randoms and it's just a frustrating mess at times. I've enjoyed it for the most part, but when you get a bunch of guys who don't talk; even if they're really good, your team is toast around Wave 8 or 9.

I've had quite the opposite experience. Several times nobody talked but everyone knew what they were doing. One time we got to like lvl 39. I do hate it when you get one or two fuckers who cowboy it up running around like idiots. They don't realize that you need to basically stick together once you get past level 10.

I've sat through many a Shotty/Sniper matches in Halo 3 that I didn't want to play.
