Anyone play FEAR on Windows Vista?
I just got a new computer with
ati radeon 4870 x2 graphics card and I can play a game like Crysis at 1680*1050 (my screens max resolution) with all the settings to extra High with 4x AA and get a nice frame rate (around 30 frames or so) but a game like Fear, the performance is more around 8-15- Frames per second. anyone able to play fear on Vista? |
I know this was a problem for most. I think turning off shadows could help, but I don't think a solution for it was found. I'm assuming you already tried running in compatibility mode and running as administrator. I have 64 bit Vista and haven't even dared to try running F.E.A.R. I have been surprised by the number of games that will run well on 64 bit Vista including old stuff like Grim Fandango with the right installer.
I did get Oblivion to run well so I can at least revisit a few of my older titles on the new PC. |
Interesting info.
I just got my computer up and running after my mobo died and decided to switch to Vista 64-bit. I had just opened my F.E.A.R. Platinum collection yesterday, but had run out of time to install it to play Extraction Point. I had played the original game on my old XP computer, and it is one of my favorite games. Maybe they'll fix the compatibility issues with the release of Project Origin. |
I'll try installing it later today. I have Vista 64 Ultimate and have my box of FEAR lying around somewhere.
