Amazon - $10 gift card with many preorders
 

I noticed this on the video game deals forum at CAG...

Amazon is offering a $10 card on many preorders.
CoD World at War
Gears 2
Fable 2
Resistance 2
FarCry 2
and a couple others I can't recall.

Nothing for Fallout 3 though... :shrug:

found it for gears 2, but not resistance 2 ...

Circuit City is doing the same thing, but it obviously requires two trips. I guess it depends on how soon you want your game.

Do you mean CC is offering a $10 GC for preordering there any of the same games as amazon?

What's nice about this preorder deal is that once your first game ships, you can apply that gift certificate to your next preorder, making that total $49.99 and then applying that game's GC to the next preorder, ad nauseum (assuming the next title hasn't shipped yet). That's why I like it much better than Circuit City's deal.

Can't you do the same thing at Circuit City? Pick up your game/gift card and apply it to a different preorder?

:up: i have three preorders, and plan on rolling the GC (s) into the subsequent orders saving $20 and tax. nice.

that does assume that amazon will make the GC codes available in a relatively quick fashion.

Yeah, but they have said they would email it within 8-10 days.

And in answer to the above post, Circuit City is giving the GC at time of pick-up of the game and doesn't let you "pay-down" your preorder. So yes, if you had your gift card in-hand, you could use it to help pay for your next game at the time of purchase, but with Amazon, you can roll that GC right into your remaining pre-order balance.

I preordered Fable and Fallout from CC.com (got FW credit) and pretty much instantly got the 10.00 codes. Although I think the codes weren't good on preorders, so I couldn't stack them that way, but I did print them out and buy Rock Band 2 from the local CC.

Just how does the Amazon "Bill Me Later" thing work? I've always just ordered and paid with C.C right there? This is not some C.C or debit offer is it?

I don't know if it's a credit card. But I didn't think whatever discount is offered with it, was worth another stab at my credit report.

IT is what it sounds like. If you search on the net there is a lot of bad stories especially if you have to do a return. I know there is a lot of happy customers but there is some really unhappy ones too.

I currently have 3 pre-orders with the $10 GC (Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, and Little Big Planet). There's a good feeling about getting these games at last gen prices at least. Also, I'm a Prime member, and they're doing the free release day arrival for Little Big Planet and Gears 2, so it's a great deal all round for me. I don't pay sales tax, I don't have to go to Wal Mart on release day, and it's $10 off retail price per game. I'm tempted to get Far Cry 2, but I'm still thinking I need to see reviews before I commit to that one.

Has anyone received there Gift Cards yet via e-mail. I ordered Fable 2 and Fallout 3 and no Gift Card yet.

Funny, but thanks to the TRU sale, I've cancelled every last one of these preorders. A deal is a deal and I just found better ones.

No, but I emailed them a few days just to inquire about when I should be getting it, and they apologized and gave me a $20 credit! Pretty crazy, but it sure was nice of them.

I emailed yesterday to inquire about my LBP credit and they told me to wait longer. :lol:

Gotta love the completely random service you can get from Amazon CS. It is so hit or miss with everything.

i have two pending - one from resistance 2 and one from GOW2. IIRC, the preorder bonus said the GCs would be sent within 10 days after the promotion ended or release occurred.

I'm still waiting for my LBP GC too.

Me too. And I was semi-surprised to learn that it would work for any Amazon purchase. I thought I remember verbiage in the original offer that suggested it only worked with future video game purchases.

i received my resistance 2 GC today.

Has anyone received their Gears $10 email rebate yet? My Far Cry 2 and Resistance 2 rebates came within 3 or 4 days. Gears has now been a week and a half, and it hasn't shown up yet.
