Noob Xbox 360 Questions

Hello,

My nephew's had an older, modded Xbox 360 with a 20GB HD for about 1 year and its had the RRoD on and off over the past few months. We've had it fixed by a local guy and it worked fine for some time but it just recently started freezing in games and then ultimately RRoD appeared.

I was thinking of just getting him an Arcade version of the Xbox 360 for Xmas as they are down to $199 now and hopefully some more deals to come between now and the end of the year. We're probably going to get the new Xbox modded as well.

I have a few questions for the experts out here...

1. Would the HDMI Arcade version also be able to output component video? He doesn't have a HDTV to hook up to.

2. Can he still use the 20GB HD that he has from the old system?

3. I saw the large sticky thread for the Xbox 360 and there were a lot of people saying their Elites are RRoD'ing. Am I taking another major risk with buying an Xbox Arcade?

Answers, Opinions, Suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Modding your system prevents you from taking advantage of the warranty if and when you get the RROD, so yes, that's a huge risk.

Put in a CD and select the songs you want to 'rip'...done. Easy as pie.
