120GB HDD is nice! I've got 70+ gigs free, with several games installed, about 9 or 10 gigs of RB DLC, and an assload of XBLA games.

I'd like a 120 gig drive but i haven't seen one in store for a long time. It is like they have switched over to the 60 gig drives and those are still like 150$ with a bunch of crap.

Checked 360voice.com and Death Tank had a purchase number of 201. It's appropritely named because it tanked and is dying a quick death. :rimshot:
For comparison, last week 3 on 3 NHL had a first day number of 764. Worms? First day = 12,345. Think Death Tank might be a little overpriced?

Per CheapAssGamer - the 120 GB drive is $122 at Buy.com right now with free shipping:

Not bad.

My question though, how safe would i be buying something like this used? I have seen some online for just under 100 that come with cable and CD. Are these things solid or should i be concerned about it being hosed?

No idea. I bought mine new a while back. Probably depends entirely on the site/seller. As long as you go with a site that has some sort of buyer protection, and you go with a seller that has lots of good feedback, I'd think you'd be okay. Just fully test the thing online and off before you leave feedback for the seller and complete the transaction.

If it's a $20 difference, I'd pay that extra bit for peace of mind. If it's much more than that, I'd go used if I found a good seller.

If you go the craigslist route, meet the guy @ the bank but take your xbox with old hard drive to transfer right there.

A friend of mine picked his up used from GameStop. He waited for one of those "25% off used accessories" coupons, and combined that with his Edge card. I think he ended up paying like $80ish for it. He's had it running with no problems for probably close to a year now.

Good point. The used would run me about 105$ shipped. So 122$ shipped new would be not too horrific and give me peace of mind.

Thanks for the link Gramps.

I sold my transfer cable and cd on eBay for like $60 right after I did the transfer, so keep that in mind to recoup some cost.

I hadn't thought of that. I will have to keep it in mind when the thing arrives from Buy.com in a few weeks.

XBLA Community Games montage:

Has anyone tried any of these (or other) community games that are worth a damn?

I tried Weapon of Choice (which is not in the montage), and it was surprisingly good - might even be worth the five bucks it costs.

Anyone have impressions of other Community Games?

Blow is my #1 Community Game pick.

I also bought Galax-E-Mail and it is a fun little shooter for 200 points iirc.

Star Pilot is also excellent if you like the Tron light-cycle style game.

Those are the three i can remember off the top of my head buying.

Carnyvale = very awesome. I think not only is it the best Community game I've seen by a lot; it's better than most XBLA games. 400 points really couldn't be spent any better (except maybe on Zuma).

From Major Nelson:

After the successful run the deal of the week had last December, we’re bringing it back on a regular basis. Starting Monday, February 23rd Xbox LIVE Gold members will receive a discount on a different piece of content each week (Arcade games, Game Add-Ons, Xbox Originals.)

With this announcement of the program, I am also able to give you a tip on what the first deal of the week will be.
Braid the award winning Xbox LIVE Arcade title normally 1200 points will be available for Gold Members in all Xbox LIVE regions starting Monday for only 800 points, a 33% savings.

Braid will be available for the special price after Monday February 23rd at 13:00 GMT/0800ET/0500 PT *
Now anyone who hasn't already purchased it has NO excuse not to pick up this masterpiece.

Carneyvale is very good but iirc it won a competition and should be coming to the regular Arcade eventually. That means it will probably be more expensive, a little more polished, and have achievements.

I'm guessing we'll probably be getting Exit 2 as our game this week, as it got bumped from last week for whatever reason.

Also on tap for next month, besides Puzzle Quest: Galactrix:

A rumor that Hasbro Family Game Night is coming soon

Peggle XLBA splash page - This usually means the game will hit within the next few weeks.

Damn, after not buying any XBLA games for a while, I'll be getting both Peggle and Galactrix. Really looking forward to both of them.

See... patience and conviction pays off. Assuming I'm not the only one who held out, here is a link to Braid on the Marketplace.

Also, pretty cool promo to do it every week. What does everyone else want to see on sale? Having recently finished the Force Unleashed I'd love to see that bonus content discounted. As for games, I've had my eye on Roboblitz since it came out. Maybe this is why we are seeing more 1200 point games, so that they can be discounted later to seem like a deal.

I'll be getting all those definitely. I wonder how Peggle's multiplayer will work.

In a way, I don't like the sale program now installed since I know I'll be getting screwed over and over again and since it might convince me to not buy some games right away in hopes of getting a discount later. I hope that the Mutant Storm games drop one way or another. Still charging 800 points for the first game is just absurd.

You know that Galactrix will more than likely be 1200, right? And Peggle will be at least 800, when you can get it on Steam for $5.

As for the sale pricing, go ahead and play the waiting game on stuff if you want. I'll be enjoying the hell out of stuff as soon as it comes out if I'm interested.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I bet most of the games/DLC that go on sale will be older stuff. Braid is already 6 months old. It's not like they'll put out Peggle and in two weeks put it on sale.
