Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Yeah, PS3 and Vita are crossbuy while PS4 is separate. However, my Season 4 pass on PS4 has for some reason let me download PS3 and Vita versions. I think this was an error though, because I was unable to get the Season 3 tables I'm missing on PS3 and Vita with my pass from PS4.

I had no issues here with the latest patch, still have access to all my tables.

Vote to Play Coming Soon Exclusively for PS Plus Members

Hey PlayStation Nation – as you all know, we love to hear your feedback and work to bring those asks, demands and needs to life wherever possible. With that in mind, I’m thrilled to announce a new PlayStation Plus promotion that literally puts the choice in your hands – Vote to Play. This promotion enables PlayStation Plus members to vote on one of several PlayStation 4 games for the upcoming month’s Instant Game Collection.

The game with the most votes will automatically be included in our future free game lineup for PlayStation Plus. If your pick didn’t make the lineup, don’t worry. In the first promotion, PlayStation Plus members can get the runner ups at a discount. We love to listen to our fans – and we’re super excited to launch this promotion.

We’ll have more details for you soon on when voting begins, what titles will be up for voting, and how you can cast your vote.

Sounds cool, except when a game I want doesn't get enough votes because everyone else already has it. Or I already have the game that gets voted. This is assuming the vote is for older games getting a free release of course.

It would be cooler if you could choose a game of your liking out of a list of 4 or something. That way you wouldn't feel stuck with the choice the majority wanted.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Well, there were a shit-ton of games (mostly obscure, weird ones) for sale in Week 2 of the Summer Sale. Then of course the site crashed and since there's no update from the Blog, I can't post what was on sale. There were a lot of weird Japanese Vita games though.
I'll update in a bit...

All games coming out for the Vita are weird Japanese games, though. Do American companies even make Vita games anymore?

So that Lara Croft free game is actually pretty cool ... I was expecting a diablo clone, but it's not really like that at all. Seems like it might be kind of dull playing solo, though.

I started playing it, I like it so far. Kind of a fun change from the past Croft games. But still getting used to constantly using all of the buttons all of the time.

I've been playing The Swapper the last couple of days and have really gotten into it; I was in the mood after Limbo. I really like The Swapper, although I'm curious as to whether it's as difficult for other people as it is for me. Some levels have easily taken me 30-60 minutes each to solve, and I'm stuck on two right now that I've probably put a combined 2 hours of fruitless thought into. I'm trying to avoid any hints or cheats because I know I would hate myself afterwards.

Yes. The difficulty curve on this one is very steep. I went from solving them in a couple of minutes to immediately going for an hour or more to figure it out.

After devoting more time than I'd like to admit, I finished the game without ever looking for hints. I really got obsessed with finishing it, and I'll look forward to doing other things with my life tomorrow. Somehow I managed to complete the entire thing without getting a single trophy. Weird.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Wow, you're right. I haven't finished yet, but I haven't popped any trophies either. The most common Trophy is at 6.9%, and they're all secret. Very weird.

In other PSN news, on the advice of a couple of CAG posters, I picked up that Beach Buggy game on sale for $4. Surprisingly, it is kind of fun. It's a converted phone game with all the IAPs included and it works pretty well. It's a cart racer with a bright cartoony appearance like some of the old PS2 3D platformers had. Don't get me wrong, it sure ain't Mario Kart 8, but for $4, you might enjoy it. It's on sale until the store update tomorrow around Noon PT.

I have 100% on The Swapper and without a guide you would have a hell of a time getting all the trophies. They are all related to finding the ten hidden terminals found through out the game.

Does anyone know if the lara croft temple of osiris DLC is worth it? The season pass is $10, but it looks like it is just 2 more tombs and some weapons and junk.

Yeah, and some are hidden to the point where about the only way you'd find them is by looking it up. There's only 2 or 3 that you'd even remotely come across in normal gameplay, and another 2 or 3 that you can only be found by nearly exploiting the game itself.

The puzzles themselves are mostly easy, but there are a few real annoying ones, and of course the few the once you see how they're done, you'll hit yourself in the head for not figuring it out sooner.

yeah, it's not worth it at all. Maybe if it drops significantly in a sale or something.

Vote to Play Begins Thursday, Help Decide Next PS Plus Lineup

Posted by John Koller on Aug 11, 2015 // VP of Platforms Marketing, SCEA

Today, we’re pleased to announce the games that will be part of Vote to Play — our special promotion that enables PlayStation Plus members to vote on one of three PlayStation 4 games for next month’s PS Plus game lineup. All three of these games would be a great addition to our lineup, and we want to put the choice in your hands when voting begins on Thursday, August 13th.
Without further ado, here are the games on the ballot.

Armello

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tOEelkJyn7U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

A grim fairy-tale board game come to life, combining deep, tactical card play, rich tabletop strategy, and RPG elements. Set in a vibrant magical world with a tinge of darkness, Armello thrusts players into an epic struggle for power as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the mad king’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.

Grow Home

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8l48inqInYE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You play BUD (Botanical. Utility. Droid), a robot on a mission to find the Star Plant and save his planet. Discover a strange open-world: a planet of floating islands, with precipitous drops, caves and waterfalls to navigate, all rendered in a minimalist but beautiful art style. Grow the giant Star Plant and use your unique climbing abilities to reach ever higher ground, but be careful as you ascend because one wrong move and it’s a long way down!

Zombie Vikings

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ixUmHT3uGaU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

From the creators of last year’s indie hit Stick It to The Man! comes a new co-op, four-player stab-you-in-the-gut-a-thon with a dead-funny adventure. Hack through the boiling gingerbread swamps of Molgaga, take a cruise through the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent, fight giant troll poultry, and find out how Söccer was really invented.

Voting starts Thursday, August 13th at 8:30 AM Pacific and ends Monday, August 24th, at 8:30 AM Pacific. The final result will be revealed after voting closes. If you’re a PS Plus member and you want to cast your vote, simply log on to PS4 with your PSN account, and access Vote to Play under “What’s New,” “Notifications,” or visit the PS Plus section of the PlayStation Store, where you’ll find details for Vote to Play.
The game with the most votes will automatically be included in our September free game lineup, and PlayStation Plus members can get the two runners-up at a discount. We can’t wait to see what PlayStation Plus members decide for September in our first Vote to Play event. We’ll have more events in the future, so stay tuned.
You can find more information about Vote to Play here, along with the benefits of being a PlayStation Plus member.
So tell us, what game are you planning to vote for?

________________

So these are all new, yet-to-be-released titles. Very cool that we get to vote for them. I'm leaning towards Zombie Vikings since I really liked Stick It To The Man.

Vote to Play is up now, by the way. I voted for Grow Home, which currently has a pretty huge lead. Zombie Vikings is slightly edging out Armello for the #2 spot.

Vote Zombie Vikings During PlayStation Vote to Play

Posted by Klaus Lyngeled on Aug 13, 2015 // Zoink!

Möther Fafnir! Zombie Vikings is part of Vote to Play! You know what that means, right? It’s time for us to charm your asses off.

If you don’t know about us, we’re Zoink, an indie studio from the west coast of Sweden. You might have heard about our previous title — Stick It to The man. At Zoink, we usually end our weeks with our traditional Pizza Friday, and maybe that’s why we decided to create what we call a “Pizza and beer game.”

The last year and a half, ten little Zoink devs have worked crazy hard to create the awesome 1-4 player story brawler that is Zombie Vikings. Because of this, you will soon be able to take a cruise through the intestines of the Midgaard Serpent and fight giant poultry in a 30 level, stab-you-in-the-gut-athon stuffed with 40 unlockable weapons. Quite neat (but at the same time icky), huh?

This is what we’re thinking — games are the most fun played together, and with that we don’t just mean having your characters appear on the same screen. Oh no. We’ve created a bunch of ways to interact with your friends! Like building a tower of Vikings, stitching yourselves together to one giant Mega Zombie, or picking each other up with a quick stab in the butt. Since you’re a Zombie, the last one doesn’t hurt (at least we don’t think so).

If you’re still not convinced that voting for us is the best idea since ice cream stuffed with cookie dough, here are a couple of other reasons!

Single player and online/offline multiplayer!
Hilarious writing by Zach Wienersmith, author of SMBC!
Collectable Viking Runes. Gain new cool abilities and mix up your style of play!
5 versus arenas for the times when co-op just feels too nice!

So vöte för üs! If we win and get super famous and rich, we’ll invite you all for a huge smorgasbord, complete with Swedish fermented herring and Dala horse decorations. So burst out from your grave, grab a can of lukewarm Berzerker™and join the most epic hackfest of the first millennium!

Vote Grow Home During PlayStation Vote to Play

Posted by Pete Young on Aug 13, 2015 // Producer, Ubisoft Reflections

Grow Home is coming to PS4 on September 1st. Yay! Even better, you get to decide if it’s going to be free for all Playstation Plus members as we’re featured in the new “Vote to Play” campaign. We’d love your vote, and we’re excited to know what you think of it!

Developing the game has been a real adventure for us. It actually started as an experiment in procedural animation, but even in the early stages we could see a unique charm and personality coming from the way our character moved. The more we tinkered, the more we felt compelled to try and build a game around it.

At Reflections, we’re used to working on big team, big budget, high-profile titles. Creating a smaller game like this was very new to us, so we had to take a different approach. A tiny team of eight set about building a game we could share with Ubisoft staff around the world — we wanted to prove that we had something fun instead of promise it. The game spread internally, quickly reaching the desktops of top management who jumped on board giving us the go-ahead to officially launch it.

Grow Home is the story of BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid sent on a quest across the galaxy to seek out a new species of flora to help oxygenate his home world. He finds the perfect specimen in the Star Plant. BUD’s mission is to grow it to maturity and harvest the seeds it produces, resulting in a towering two-kilometer-high bridge from the ground to his space ship. Along the way you’ll explore floating islands, encounter strange plants and unusual animals. The Star Plant is a living thing, so growing and steering it is quite a wild ride. The shape it takes is all up to you, as you grow your own playground in the sky.

Using BUD’s hands, you’ll push, pull, and grab onto objects, as well as climb. Grabbing with the left and right trigger buttons brings a unique feel to how you interact with the world, especially the climbing which can be very physical and perilous — you get a real sense of vertigo and you’re acutely aware of the long drop below you!

As you make your way toward the sky, you’ll discover other ways of getting around faster. That’s where discoveries like the teleportation pads, bouncing leaves, flower parachutes and leaf glider come in. It might be safer to grow and climb everywhere, but once you have a glider or parachute to use if you fall then you’ll begin to push yourself to take bigger and bolder risks — jumping, bouncing, gliding, and falling with confidence.

We wanted to challenge how we make games at Ubisoft Reflections. Grow Home has given us a chance to experiment on a much smaller scale than we’re used to. It’s a project born out of our passion for games and a determination to do things differently. We feel we’ve created a beautiful and intriguing world that invites you to climb that next ledge and see what new surprises you’ll find. We hope you enjoy the adventure!

Vote Armello During PlayStation Vote to Play

Posted by Trent Kusters on Aug 13, 2015 // League of Geeks

Hey guys and gals! Trent Kusters here from League of Geeks. We’re huge tabletop fans here at LoG, and Armello is our passion project to bring board games to life in the medium we know best: video games.

With the stunning world we’ve created, bringing that experience to console was something we just couldn’t resist, and so surely there’s no better way than to mark our arrival on PS4 with PlayStation Vote to Play!

Set in a vibrant, magical world with a tinge of darkness, Armello thrusts players into a Game of Thrones-esque struggle for power in epic single or multiplayer action.

Players take on the role of a Hero from one of the four animal clans and navigate their character across the procedurally generated board as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the Mad King’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.

You’ll start your turn in your clan grounds and traverse the board with a set number of action points for each turn to spend on moving their character from tile to tile. Each tile presents different consequences including exploring a dungeon, gaining or losing health, claiming a settlement for your own, or granting stealth. With more than 100 beautifully animated and illustrated cards, you can cast spells, recruit followers, uncover ancient treasures, and execute treacherous plots as you quest for the throne!

There are four ways to win in Armello.

Combat — Slaying the king and surviving the confrontation.
Prestige Victory — Having the most Prestige when the King dies, whether from his afflictions (the King loses health every dawn) or dying in combat with the attacking player also not surviving the battle. Prestige is gained by completing heroic deeds such as killing other players, vanquishing banes, or completing quests.
Spirit Stone Collection — magical Spirit Stones can be found throughout Armello. If a player collects four, they can use them to assist the King in passing in peace, restoring balance to Armello.
Rot Victory — players who defeat the King in combat whilst having more Rot than him (and live to tell the tale) will win the game and shroud Armello in darkness.

We’re convinced you’ll love Armello. It’s something we’ve been pouring our heart and soul (and bank accounts) into for over four years now. All that time we’ve been heavily focused on creating something that not just speaks to that nostalgia we all share for great board games and tales of adventure, but breaks new ground as a contemporary video game.

Easy to Play, Hard to Master — Armello is an intuitive game, easy to pick up and experience but with deep and emergent strategy.
Dynamic Sandbox — Armello features a gorgeous dynamic world which procedurally generates a new map each and every game, complete with a dynamic quest system ensuring no two games of Armello are ever the same.
Multiple Playable Heroes — Full release will include 8 playable Heroes. Each unique Hero possesses a unique power, stat spread, and AI personality. Also heroes can be customized with Amulet and Signet Ring load-outs to match your play style or counter opponents’ strategies.
Fast & Thoughtful — Adventuring in Armello is fast-paced fun, filled with deadly tactical and politically complex decisions requiring careful forethought and planning.
Turn-Based Day & Night Cycle — Armello features a fuzzy turn-based system, cycling between Day and Night phases. The fuzzy turns allow you to still play cards and do certain actions when it’s not your turn, and when it is you use Action Points to move around the hex board.
World Class Music & Audio — By Michael Allen, internationally acclaimed artist Lisa Gerrard, and Jacek Tuschewski.
Animated Cards — Armello will feature over a 120+ beautifully animated in-game Cards, from artists all over the world.
True Tabletop Feel — We painstakingly cherry-picked the best parts of the tabletop experience, like our custom physics-based dice!

We like to say that Armello is “Kung-Fu Panda meets Game of Thrones,” but really it’s mostly just a treacherous board game that’ll see you destroy friendships on your way to the throne!

If board games, RPGs or turn-based strategy games are your thing, we can’t wait to hear what you think of Armello.
