Is anyone else getting really frustrated with the controls? It makes some of the tight platforming levels really difficult to get through. I don't mind a tough platformer. It's just annoying when the character doesn't do exactly what it should.

I'm leaning towards pre-ordering the game. But I'll probably end up throwing a couple controllers at the TV.

Hey, Brent L., if you haven't moved on from DJ yet, maybe it's time. This Beta ends in less than a week.

I'd say it's fair to wait one day from first contact before moving to the next on the list.

Do you have any other devices plugged in? I had the same problem because I had the Rock Band guitar dongle still plugged in, and it was counting it as a second player (even though the guitar wasn't on), so it wouldn't progress since everyone wasn't together. Once I unplugged the dongle it worked fine.

I do have a remote dongle and I thought the same thing(turned off the system, removed it and rebooted) but still nothing. I'll give it another try at lunch.

Thanks for the help guys. It definitely sucks that I'm in this limited thing and am anxious to play it and can't get it to work.

Are you referring to the jumping mechanics? They do take some getting used to. Other than the floaty nature of some jumps, they seem pretty good to me.
It's a little unusual in the game's presentation. I've seen plenty of 2D (i.e. Super Mario World), 2.5D (i.e. Crash Bandicoot) and 3D (i.e. Ratchet & Clank) games. This is none of the above. I'd call it 2.75D. You have full left & right movement and very limited in-out movement, like the whole game is played on a ledge. It makes sense -- it would be very hard to build full 3D platforming levels, still it does take a little getting used to.

I finally shot it over to keys88 this morning, and if I don't hear back from in by the time I go to bed tonight I'll try someone else.

I don't think DJ has even been online since I sent it, so I doubt it's been used yet.

I should't have waited that long, I agree. 12-24 hours is it from here on out.

I am loving this game. Easily the top contender for my personal game of the year. It does a superb of job of introducing gameplay mechanics at a good pace, and then introducing level construction concepts at a rate where it won't overwhelm you. I was able to easily and quickly create a rocket ship and a rocket car with forward and reverse thrusters (and a ramp to launch it off of). Complex levels will take a lot of time and tweaking, but you can throw little toys together really quickly. On top of all that, the existing player-created levels, even in the week or two since the start of the beta, are awesome. The Ninja Warrior level is brilliant, and the Shadow of the Colossus level is great too. I can't wait to see what these talented people can make given the final version of the game and a month or two of development time. Such a fantastic game!

Flashburn has been delivered a beta key.

Dragon Fly and kaze0, in that order, need to be added to the beta giveaway list.

Liver&Onions, did you ever get one from the LBP site? I didn't get mine from them until I updated my email notification preferences. But you do fit, as far as I know, the requirements to get it from them (one of which, though, again is the email notification from the site.)

Well, that was apparently the problem. Played through the three demo levels. Not bad. Hasn't exactly bowled me over though given all the praise the game has gotten.

The jumping feels a little weird. Isn't this a physics based game? Wouldn't said physics also apply to Sackboy's ginormous noggin? That's what it feels like to me anyway.

Thanks for adding me to the list.

How does the code work? Enter into into the PSN store and download? If so, could someone just start up a second PSN account just for LBP beta and a few of us could log into it and download off the same account?

If I remember correctly from reading some other places, once someone uses it on one ps3, then anyone else is locked out for 24 hours. Now, I don't know if it's 24 hours from when you log on or when you log off, but I've read of other people trying to share and it not working.

DJ got back to me just now in PM, so it looks like it's a race between him and keys88 as to which one actually uses the code I gave out.

I think that code was my last hope. Here's hoping there is some other generous soul out there with an extra beta code.

Brent I sent you a pm but I should thank you publicly.
Thank You !
I also want to apologize to DJ. When I came home from work I checked my PM's and saw the one from Brent. I went right to the PS3 and started downloading. I didn't come to this thread until later to find out he responded. I hope I didn't cause a problem.

Apparently, if you preorder with Gamestop, besides Kratos, you will also get Medusa and a Minotaur costume set as well as a GoW map pack.

I just noticed this little blurb in the latest GamePro magazine.

Talented amateur level designers will actually be able to sell their most inspired creations for cold hard cash.
That's the first I'd heard if it. Apparently the news broke a few months ago:

According to recent comments by David Reeves, president of SCEE, that's what's planned for the upcoming community-driven platformer. "What we're trying to do with LittleBigPlanet is almost iTunes meets eBay in the sense that once an individual or a developer has qualified by producing certain levels or certain add-ons, they will then be able in the future to exchange these and make money out of them," Reeves notes. "Eventually, it's feasible that you might well see the first LittleBigPlanet millionaire!"

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/20/...eated-content/
On one hand, this might lead to some top-notch levels. But as a consumer, I don't want to be nickeled and dimed to death. If it gets to the point where any worthwhile level costs $1-$2, that's going to suck.

I think the biggest control problems are moving between the foreground and background. Sometimes Sackboy will move back and forth on his own. And sometimes, when you want him to move, he won't. This is a problem in tight platforming games that require jumping in a particular spot or when you need to sidestep and dodge something. Or when you want to grab/push an item, and instead you slip around the front or back.

I haven't seen it mentioned much, so maybe this doesn't bother most players. But I find it pretty frustrating.

I preordered at Best Buy, so I'm hoping that it's gonna be the same kind of thing but perhaps with Heavenly Sword stuff. Maybe I'll go put $5 down at GS, though.

I'm bummed I missed the code from Brent. I was out of town all week on business. Oh well, I guess that happens...not a big deal. If anyone has a spare code, I WILL be around this week

Thanks!

I'm wondering if these user created levels that sony wants to pay the maker are gonna be made for Little Big Planet 2?
