Too bad to hear about that.
And don't blame Sony, they are just doing the same other videogame companies did in the past.

Going to be hard to talk about this issue without getting political.

You could just accept it as fact and treat it like any other delay

So if I were to put my copy on eBay, how would this be for the title?

Little Big Planet (PS3) RARE OOP - Blaspheme Edition!!!

Kidding, just kidding.

I went to the local K-Mart, no luck there.

I just checked out ebay and I don't see anyone cashing in yet. However it appears Kratos and Nariko codes are going for over $10 each.

What sucks is that will put this right in the thick of GH:WT and Gears 2.

Out of all the games for this to happen to, I can't believe it happened to one so cute and innocent looking.

EDIT:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/...elease-update/

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

Honestly, I would think that the outcry from angry gamers over a month-long delay of the game would be far greater than some sensitive Muslims getting upset over something so insignificant.

Actually, MediaMolecules had a patch ready to go already to fix this. But Sony didn't want to risk offending that large segment of gamers that are Muslim (and ultra-sensitive about it), own PS3s, were going to buy LBP on release, don't have internet access, and understand Somalian. So clearly they've made the right choice...

Crap-ola. At least I'll be able to get some Fable time in before this hits now.

Might I suggest they replace the offending music track with The Byrds' "Turn, Turn, Turn"? That might even things up a bit.

Why cant sony send out copies to those who have internet? When i installed my ps3 I had to register with sony and receive e-mails from them. They have us in the database there shouldnt be a problem.

Are you buying your copy from Sony? Because I'm getting mine from Amazon (even later now, ugh).

They should patch it, and require that you have a patched version to proceed, like how you can barely do anything on PS3 until you have the latest system update. I actually can't believe they are going to delay it, considering how important this title is to the PS3's fall/winter.

What are the odds that Sony implements some download that blocks that track on all versions of the game?

C-Mart posted the official MM statment at the very beginning of this discussion.
So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks.
So, I'd say pretty good that this gets pushed out on "day 0". In fact, I'd be surprised if it wasn't fast-tracked and implemented ASAP. That may be next Thursday, 10/23 unless PSN has emergency updates.

It is going to be hard for them to pull an "Iron Man" and have this ready to go on release day. Hopefully they will have it out no later than a week after the original release date. That is the least we can hope for.

What do you think the chances are that sony wont be able to collect all the games in time? Theres a lot of stores carrying the game and I'll bet you some are gonna have the game out come tuesday regardless of what Sony says.

Well, you're in luck. That's what Sony has already announced. See Brent L's post a few posts back.

I just got a call from GameStop letting me know that it has indeed been delayed until the 27th. I pre-ordered there to get the special code.

I thought a few people already have their copies of the game. Will those copies still get the patch?

I'm sure that the patch will go out regardless of which disk you have. Only those who already have the disk and do not have internet will have the "rare" version.

I'm not going to sweat this one too much. I'm getting Rock Band 2 this weekend and Guitar Hero: World Tour the next week so I'll have plenty to keep me busy, not counting the 6 games I just got at TRU.

I'm not really sweating the fact that it will be delayed but more the reason why it is being delayed. I also have bought enough games over the last week to keep me busy until the '09 holiday season.

The sad thing is I have games from the '08 holiday season I haven't touched yet - and yet I keep buying new games.
